Kira reached for the knife and held it to his beck but then, the man abruptly turned.
Upon seeing his face, the knife was released from her grasp. A storm of emotions flashed in her eyes. Anger, hatred, heartbreak, sadness, Kira did not know what she felt at this moment.
Her expression went back to normal after a while before she asked coldly with her eyes narrowed.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm here for my wife.",he replied and pulled her towards him with a hand on her waist.
"Mr Grover, I'm sure you are aware that we divorced eight years ago.", Kira reminded in an icy tone.
"If so...", he paused for a while before continuing, "then marry me again."
She raised her hand to slap him but he caught it right before the slap landed. "I'm serious. I want you back.",he said with sincerity in his voice. However, his words earned a scoff from Kira.
She pushed him away in fury, her breathing quickening. Memories from the past flashed past her mind. There was a sharp pain in her chest but she continued to hold back her tears.
"Get out! Get out, Jayden! I don't want to see you!", she screamed at the man, hitting his chest continuously.
"Baby, I'm sorry.", he whispered in her ear. There was a lump in Jayden's throat on seeing Kira like that. He knew he was the cause of all her pain. He was the reason she suffered for so long.
"I hate you, Jayden Grover. I hate you with all my being." She ignored his words of apology.
Kira wanted to speak more but the sound of her phone ringing cut her off. She released herself from his embrace and without sparing him a glance, she left the kitchen for her room.
