Chapter 16 - 16. Beastly behavior

"What just happened!" Rebecca exclaimed horrified.

Kira was loss for words, while Rebecca wouldn't seem to stop from rambling.

"Did you see that?" Rebecca asked as She began, pacing. "She had fangs! Kira your doctor had fangs!"

"Are you even listening?" Rebecca asked annoyed.

"I wonder if she's okay?" Kira mumbled silently.

"Are you freaking asking if she's okay after her teeth turned into her fangs!" Rebecca shouted.

"She did try to save me," Kira whispered.

"To save you?" Rebecca scoffed, "She might be the reasons you're life was in danger." She said in a matter of factly tone.

Kira wanted to protest but she did the opposite instead, "You're probably right."

"I'm sorry," Rebecca frowned, wrapping her arms around Kira.

"It's fine," Kira mumbled, "I'm going to bed."

"Okay. Goodnight." Rebecca muttered.

"Goodnight," Kira whispered as she made her way to her room.

Kira would twisted and turned. Everytime she closed her eyes she saw Jennifer's worried eyes, staring back at her.

She knew Jennifer was only protecting her but why? And from whom?

What would anyone want from her?

Jason was sitting in Jackson's office, reading a book. When he felt as if someone had just pierced a blade through his abdomen.

He could feel the blade cutting through his spine and tissues. Before it was forcefully removed only to ran across his neck.

"What are you doing?" Jackson's noticed as he trailed his hand across his neck.

"I should go," Jason mumbled as he stood to his feet.

On Jason's way out he saw Lora with a sword in her hand as she made her way to Jackson's office.

He knew something was wrong the moment he had tried calling Jennifer and she didn't answered.

No! No!

He began panicking as he made his way towards his manor.

"Jennifer!" He called as he burst through the door.

"Jennifer!" He shouted and when she didn't answered he dialed her number.

Where are you?

He wondered as he ran through the forest, before he came to a halt at Kira's apartment. He could smelled her fear from a miles, and his reflexes he quickly made his way to her balcony.

Why was she afraid?

Jason pondered as he slide through her door that was ajar. And as he approached her, he could hear her whimpering.

"Jennifer."

Jason took a step backwards until he was standing outside the balcony and made a leap. He closed his eyes as he began sniffing the air, only for his blue eyes to changed into red ones.

With his vampire speed he followed Jennifer's scent to an alleyway. Where he find his sister's lifeless body.

"Hrrrrrrwrrrwrrr!!!"

An inhuman growled erupted from his throat as he body shook violently. The guilt he felt was like nothing before, he could have saved her but instead, he avoided her calls.

As Jason lifted Jennifer's body it started to rain, it was only drizzling before a stormed broke out. When Jason arrived at his manor he was soaked, his clothes clung to his skin.

As he lay Jennifer's body on the couch he reached for the one of the many phones that was rested on the lamp table. And dialed the only person who cared for his sister had much as he did.

"Jason, you never call this hour, is everything alright?" Marcus asked after, answering the phone.

"She's dead," He croaked the words sound foreign to his ears.

"I'll be over immediately," Marcus said before the line went dead.

He was out for blood, he wanted vengeance, he was going to rewrite their fates one by one. And he was going to start with Kira, he was going to be her tormentor. After all, she did wished it.

Jennifer's lifeless body was the first thing Marcus saw when he walked into the sitting room. She was pale as ice from blood loss all and the black and purple brusies were visible.

"She didn't go down without a fight," Marcus mumbled, "What happened?"

"I found her like this," came Jason's voice.

"Who was she fighting?" Marcus asked as he shifted his stare to Jason.

"I don't know but I know who she was protecting."

"Does she know what she even is?"

"No." Jason answered, shuffling to his feet, "But I do planning on fixing that minor issue."

"Do you think it's the right thing to do?" Marcus questioned.

"Look before you Marcus, my sister died, trying to protect her!" Jason voice trembled from rage, "She deserved to know what evil she is."

"What about Jennifer's body?"

"I want her to be cleaned and dressed nicely," Jason spoke as he turned on his heels.

Squealing, Kira woke up up from the nightmare. She stared at the ceiling, hearing the loud pounding of her heart in the quiet room. She felt guilty for leaving Jennifer and more guilt for not checking up on her.

Placing her hand on her chest, she tried to calm down as she reached for her phone off the bedside table. As she dialed Jennifer's number her hands began trembling.

She had a feeling that something bad had happened. And when she didn't answered her calls she decided to visited her.

"Kira?" Rebecca called as she burst through the door, "Why are you not ready?"

"I'm not feeling well," Kira lied.

"Do you want me to stay home?" Rebecca asked.

"No, I'm just a little tired, I'll feel better by noon." She tried to smooth Rebecca.

"Okay, but call me if you," Rebecca said as she made her way through the door.

"I will," Kira smiled.

Shortly after, Rebecca had left Kira rushed to the bathroom and took a quicker shower. After, she had gotten dressed she hurried to the hospital.

"Good morning," Kira greeted the receptionist.

"Good morning, how can I help you?" The lady smiled at her.

"I'm Kira Quinn, a patient of Jennifer Hale I've baked her a pie and I was hoping I would get her home address."

"I'm sorry, Ms. Quinn but there's no doctor by the name of Jennifer Hale who worked at the hospital."

"Are you sure?" Kira asked.

"I'm sorry," The receptionist gave her a small smile.

"Okay, thank you." Kira smiled politely before turning on her heels.

If Jennifer wasn't a doctor then who was she?

And why would she lie about being a doctor?

Could it be that she knew who attacked me at the dinner and who had been sending me notes?

Kira walked down the streets absentmindly when she saw the club where Jennifer had took her. Wasting no time she made her way across the road and towards the club entrance.

"Hi," She greeted the bartender.

"Hey, gorgeous, how can I help you?" He asked in a flirty voice.

"I'm looking for this girl," Kira showed him the picture of Jennifer, "Do you know her?"

"She's one of our regular customers."

"Do you know where she lives?" Kira asked.

"If I tell you what's in it for me?"

"I'll pay," Kira handed him three hundred dollars.

"You can find her at this address," He  said as he scribbled something on a paper before handing it to her.

"Thank you," Kira smiled as she took the paper.

After paying the cab driver, Kira got out of the car and went up the path that led towards a manor. She was in awe as she stared at the manor it was quite extravagant and huge. It screamed elegance and luxury.

The vast entrance was made of a large wooden door and had two small towers on each side. Stone steps led to the enterance.

Kira walked towards the wooden door. It had two large door knockers in the shapes of bat.

Strange, she thought. She was used to seeing lion heads.

With her heart racing, she knocked lightly at first and waited. When no one answered the door, she knocked again, this time a bit harder.

The wooden door opened with a creaking sound. Kira expected to see someone on the other end but only greeted by darkness. She peaked her head inside.

"Hello?" She called, feeling a bit frighten. "Is someone home?"

Her voice echoed in the dark, but no one responded. Warily, she stepped inside and the large wooden door shut behind her with a loud bang.

Kira's heart jumped to her throat as darkness surrounded her.

She looked around but couldn't see anything. "Jennifer?" She called, this time her voice shaking slightly.

Again, she was met with silence. Could it be that no one is home?

Suddenly she was met with a pair of cold sapphire blue eyes, that made her breath hitched in her throat.

"I see you have found the lion's den," Jason spoke his words dripping with venom.
