Chapter 7 - Chapter 7.

I crossed my legs, getting more and more immersed in the book, that I was currently reading. I bit my lips trying to hold back a shriek that was about to escape through my lips.

The poor girl was about to be caught.

I fell goosebumps raise on my skin as I was about to turn the page but was ripped out of my trance by someone continuously ringing my doorbell.

I growled out in annoyance and stalked towards the front door.

Who dared to disturb my sweet time with my book?

I opened the door and came face to face with a certain tall and bushy-haired 18-year-old boy and a red-haired girl who was giggling hysterically behind him. I just threw them my most intimidating death glare, but it didn't seem to cause much effect on them.

"Aren't you going to invite us in tiger?" Ryan said and pushed me slightly so that he can enter, Mia followed his suit.

"Make yourself at home," I said sarcastically.

"Of course little furball," Mia said while grinning like a Cheshire cat.

"Damn, I wish I had won a scholarship, this place is fucking huge," Ryan exclaimed.

" Yeah, this place is cool. It was fully furnished and the fridge was loaded too." I said casually.

"That's crazy man!" Mia exclaimed.

"How are the dorms?" I asked them.

"The rooms are nice and all except for the roommates. " Ryan said.

"What happened?" I asked them.

"Mine happens to be a fat prev Ted senior (A/n : I mean no offense to the overweight people out there. Please ignore the above phrase. It was just for the story.) who likes to stalk girls on Facebook and keeps those dirt porn type of magazines beneath his pillows. It was just straight disgusting." Ryan said.

Then I turned towards Mia.

"...well mine happens to be one of those queen bee types, who doesn't know how to keep her legs closed," Mia said while scrunching up her nose in disgust.

"We were so excited about college but now just wishing this semester to be over. " Ryan admitted with a sad and dejected look on his face.

I started to think about the various ways in which I can be able to help my friends. My train of thought stopped at a single conclusion. I have an idea in my mind, but I don't know if I should tell them about it or not. What the hell am I even thinking? They are my best friends. They have been with me on my good days and also on my worst days. I am a stupid bitch to doubt them.

"You know, this apartment is pretty big. It has three bedrooms. I have settled myself in one but the other two rooms are lying barren." I said. "What are you trying to say?" Ryan gave me a suspicious look as he narrowed his eyes at me.

"You know, you guys can move in with me if you want," I said.

"We don't want to be a burden to you, Mel," Mia said.

"You guys will never be a burden on me and I don't like living alone anyway. You see, my motives are completely selfish. " I said while flipping my hair.

"Okay then." Ryan agreed.

"Me too." Mia chirped in.

"Group hug." Ryan shouted as he enveloped us in his strong arms."

"Stop," Mia shouted as a look of realization crossed her face. Both Ryan and I gave her a bewildered look.

"You have to talk with Mr. Hottie before we move in," she said like it's a matter of fact. "Who?" I asked her, completely perplexed by her statement. "Honey, we don't want to cause you any problem, so we think that it's best if you talk to Mr. Blackford first," Mia said slowly like she was talking to a five-year-old kid.

"Do I have to?" I asked timidly. Ryan gave a sympathetic look and nodded his head. "Okay then, I will do it," I said with a fire of determination burning inside me.

NEXT DAY.

What was I even thinking when I agreed to this? How can I even talk to that guy without stuttering like an idiot? I think I should drop this whole idea. I don't even have the guts to face him let alone talk to him. But I can't chicken out now, especially when my friends need me. I let out a defeated sigh when I reached in front of Mr. Blackford's apartment. My hands were practically shaking and beads of perspiration appeared on my forehead when I lifted my hand to ring his doorbell. I fidgeted in my place nervously. After thirty seconds or so the door finally opened before I can think of running away, a disheveled Alexie came into my view. He looked quite surprised to see me.

"Can I help you with anything Miss Melissa?" He asked me. "Yeah, I actually had to talk to Mr. Blackford," I said.

"I'm sorry madam but he is not here at the moment, he's in his office." Alexie apologized while stating the reason for his boss's absence.

"It's okay Alexie. Maybe I will stop by later." I said.

"Ma'm please wait for a second, let me inform Sir first." He said behind me, making me stop in my tracks as I turned to him and gave him an unsure look but allowed him to do so. He quickly fished out his phone from his pocket and dialed someone. Must be Mr. Blackford.

While he was talking on the phone I was able to hear part vague of their conversation.

"Sir Miss Davis is here to meet you...

Yes sir....

Of course Sir.....

I will inform her...."

With that being said he cut off the call and turned to face me.

"Miss, Sir wants to see you in his office and the discussion your topic," he said.

"Right now," I asked nervously.

"Only if you like" he clarified.

"Okay then the sooner the better," I said nervously.

"Will you tell me the address to his office. I don't exactly know the way. " I said sheepishly.

"About that. He had ordered his personal Driver to drive you there."

Suddenly his phone beeped with some notification. He unlocked his phone and typed something before turning to me.

"Miss, the car has arrived. Let me escort you." He said.

"Yeah sure, but let me grab something first," I said and dashed out of the apartment without waiting for his answer. I rushed into my apartment and headed straight towards my bedroom. I quickly grabbed my purse and put all the necessary things in it like my wallet, phone charger, earphones, and then headed towards my kitchen. I opened the pantry and grabbed a packet of Doritos and a can of diet coke with a water bottle.

What? A teenage girl cannot leave her place without food. Food is life

I quickly checked my appearance in a mirror making sure that I didn't look like a complete hobo in front of all those formally dressed people in Mr. Blackford's office.

When I walked out of my apartment, I saw that Alexie is already waiting for me near the elevator. I quickly locked the door behind me and walked towards the elevator. He gave a slight bow before gesturing me to step inside the elevator which has surprisingly had already arrived.

When did he push the button? Was my attention span that horrible that I didn't even notice him pushing the elevator button? How am I even going to survive in New York with the attention span of a grape?

He stepped in after me and luckily this time I saw when he pressed the button that will lead us to the lobby

and within no time we hit the ground.

Just kidding about the 'hitting' part though.

He led me to a sleek black limo, where a driver was already seated.

Alexio opened the door for me.

"Miss Davis, Mr. Blackford's assistant will escort you to his office once you reach there." With that said he closed the door and we drove off towards our destination.

******

It took us around 15 minutes to reach his office. His office building basically screamed money. It was all sleek and classy. Suits his personality though.

A mighty building for a mighty CEO.

Michael the driver who seemed to be in his late forties was a humble man with a small family which consists of his wife and their two sons who are still in high school. He told me that he had been Mr. Blackford's Driver for the last 6 years.

He opened the door for me. I carefully stepped off the car and mumbled a quiet thanks to him. He just nodded his head and gave me a small smile. I walked into the giant magnificent-looking building before taking a deep breath.

******

I can't believe it. This place is even more huge and magnificent than the outside structure.

A beautiful white-colored fountain was in the middle and there were numerous glass elevators on one side. And on the other side, numerous desks were placed on which a placard was set saying Information and Reception. I slowly made my way to one of the desks.

"Excuse me," I said and the woman behind the desk looked up from her computer screen. The receptionist was beautiful with her blonde hair and perfect body.

"What?" She snapped at me rudely

Well, she may have been beautiful but her behavior is kinda bitchy. But then again who am I to judge her. For all, I know she may have been having a bad day. One thing that my parents taught me that was never to judge a person based on the clothes they wear or their appearance or the first thing they say when they meet you. Looks can be deceiving.

"I am here to see Mr. Blackford. " I said politely completely ignoring her rude behavior.

"Do you have an appointment?" She asked me in a bored tone while she smacked her bubblegum loudly. I internally cringed at this but did not show it.

" No. I mean yes, kinda....." I started nervously but she cut me off.

"Just spit it out girlie. We don't have all day." She barked out at me.

"His butler, Alexio had talked to him on phone," I said.

She gave out an annoyed sigh and glared at me.

"Listen here, you sweet cheeks, Mr. Blackford ain't got time for little girls like you..." She was interrupted in her rant by someone.

" What is going on here?" A deep voice asked us, interrupting her rant.

We both snapped our heads so fast that I thought we may have got whiplash.

And then our eyes finally met with the voice who interrupted us...
