At last, it was dismissal time, and Mo Aini had returned to free Hu Chuntian.
"Did he make any ruckus while I'm not around, Doctor?" Mo Aini asked while untying Hu Chuntian and re-wrapping the bandages properly.
"No." The Doctor briefly replied, still engrossed in his newspaper.
Hu Chuntian grinned at him. "See? I've been a good boy, Da Ge. Where's my reward?"
"I'll spar with you next week."
"Next week!?" Hu Chuntian grumbled. "Why not now? We can go to my house and---"
"I'm not allowing you to throw punches with hands like these." Mo Aini made the final knot on the bandage. "Let them heal first, then we can fight. If you injure them again, I'll keep postponing it."
"What about the treat you promised me?"
"Here." Mo Aini took something from the plastic bag he's carrying. "Bubble milk tea."
Hu Chuntian really felt wronged. Da Ge tricked him!
But it was his karma anyway, he was the one who wrecked his own knuckles in the first place. And he does like sweet drinks like bubble milk tea.
Still, he shook his head. "I don't want that. I want to learn fighting techniques with you in my house."
"We will next week. There are just some things I have to take care of first, and you're in no condition to fight right now. Don't be mad at me." Mo Aini shook the plastic cup in front of him. "You sure you don't want it? I also bought extra sugar packs if you think it's not sweet enough."
"How do you know I like sugary things, Da Ge?" Hu Chuntian finally took the bubble milk tea and took off the cover to put four packs of sugar on it.
(I know everything about you because of your bio.) Mo Aini thought. (But damn, if this was my world, I'm worried that he'll have diabetes. But this is another universe anyway and they're in anime style so it's likely Hu Chuntian wouldn't become ill from this kind of diet.)
The system neither confirmed nor denied this conclusion.
Mo Aini shrugged and reasoned, "Because you're a kid, and kids like sweet stuff."
"I'm not a kid! I'm a 19-year-old adult man! " Hu Chuntian protested while drinking from the straw, taking all the tapioca first. He slurped all of them in annoyance that his cheeks puffed up.
"Sure, sure." Mo Aini poked his cheek. "You're still my Di Di. So I'll always think of you as a kid, especially when you act like one."
Eventually, the clinic doctor had to push them out because it's already sunset and they parted ways, promising to see each other again in class tomorrow.
--------------
"I'm not part of Class C anymore?"
Mo Aini blinked as the homeroom teacher told him this as well as Hu Chuntian who had just waved at him when he entered the door.
"You were the one who created the art piece at the exhibition room, correct? That's why you have been moved to Class A." The teacher said.
(So I was right the first time. The system can only move from world to world but all the timelines are the same because they are parallel universes. Going back to an earlier time or erasing the effects I have made from a certain world is not possible.)
Mo Aini scratched his head. "Oh, yes, Ma'am! I just forgot because I was so used to being in Class C all my life. I'll be going now."
Mo Aini gave Hu Chuntian an apologetic look and mouthed the words, "Sorry, lil bro."
Hu Chuntian looked so upset and was about to call out to him so he left before he could feel even more guilty and rushed to Class A.
He took his seat beside Shu Chuanli and saw that the seating arrangement had changed compared to the one in Shu Chuanli's route. Mo Jiagei and She Haoran now sat at the front, right beside each other. They were a little too far but he can see them talking.
"Where have you been, Mo Aini?" Shu Chuanli asked as he sat. "You were absent yesterday and we will be having a quiz ten minutes from now. Have you studied yet?"
"Yeah. I got a cold yesterday." Mo Aini lied.
Suddenly, a hologram screen showed up in front of Mo Jiagei and She Haoran.
[She Haoran is asking you which would be a better decoration at the Spring Festival next year. Your reply:
> Anything, really
> Give your honest opinion]
The right answer is quite obvious. What matters is to use reverse psychology since Mo Jiagei had grown cautious of the paper plane cheats he had been giving. Mo Aini wrote on a paper plane again and tossed it in Mo Jiagei's direction. Mo Jiagei opened it and it said 'Anything, really'.
That way, she would pick the 'Give your honest opinion' thinking that it would lead her to the Bad Ending.
But Mo Jiagei really did pick it!
(Was she following an online walkthrough now?) Mo Aini wondered. If so, that would be bad because whether he uses reverse psychology or not is useless!
[Don't worry, there can never be cheating sites for Shuaige games. We made sure of that. Mo Jiagei had just gotten smarter.]
(What does that mean?)
This was answered during the PE class, where they were taught how to play chess as part of mental exercise. The teacher asked for volunteers to demonstrate how the game is done. She Haoran and Mo Jiagei raised their hand and sat in front of each other to play chess, She Haoran at the white side and Mo Jiagei at the black.
[You and She Haoran are playing chess. He is a known chess master. Do you:
> Play honestly and give it all you got
> Take it easy on him and deliberately lose. ]
Mo Aini used reverse psychology again and gave Mo Jiagei the wrong answer: Take it easy on him and deliberately lose.
He was expecting Mo Jiagei to pick it again, but this time, Mo Jiagei picked the opposite answer!
[+5 Cupid Points!]
(So she's alternating between following what I say and not following what I say? That's her technique?) Mo Aini sighed of relief. (Ah, meimei, that just made it easier for me to have you get the 'Good Ending'.)
But Mo Aini was proven wrong.
Mo Jiagei does not follow a strictly alternating pattern at all. She doesn't just go follow- don't follow- follow- don't follow.
Sometimes she would decide to follow Mo Aini's paper plane advice three times in a row, them not follow it again. Sometimes twice following, twice not following. It was deliberately inconsistent, and Mo Aini was about to go nuts.
(Meimei, I was wrong. You were just as smart as your gege, I take it back. Please don't make things harder for me QaQ.) Mo Aini sulked at a corner by the time classes had ended.
[That is why we told you to take as much chances as you can. Don't waste time playing with unimportant characters. Or would you like to see what She Haoran's Bad Ending would be like?]
(I'm on it, evil bossy system. No need to remind me.) Mo Aini scowled at the system. (This is very difficult. How in hell could I find a foolproof way to guess whether Mo Jiagei would follow the answers I gave her or not?)
[That's your job as a Cupid. It was never about tricking others in the first place.] The system reminded apathetically. [A Cupid's job is to make people fall in love.]
(But it's critically impossible to make Mo Jiagei fall in love with someone who's not her type!)
[You're not Hu Chuntian's type, yet you made him fall in love with you twice.]
Mo Aini's face turned red and cleared his throat. (It wasn't on purpose. I didn't even want it. At first, I just want him to leave me alone. Now I just wish us to be friends.)
[You're already friends with Hu Chuntian 3.0 right now, aren't you?]
(What? Nah, I wouldn't say it like that, it's only been less than 48 hours. More like acquaintances or people with the same interest. Which is beating up things.)
Mo Aini chuckled when he remembered how stubborn his 'lil bro' was. (All he could say is 'Let's spar, Da Ge! Let's spar, Da Ge!' Honestly, for the one who's supposed to be the most violent version, he ended up being the less intimidating. So childish, it's....)
[Endearing? Adorable? Lovable?] The system supplied him with the words.
(Hey, don't take the words out my mouth. I was going to say 'annoying'.) Mo Aini scoffed. (Every version of Hu Chuntian is annoying in their own way. But I kinda want to get to know him more because of that..... as friends, of course.)
[But again, two of them like you. If you merge them to the current one, are you not scared that the friendship will be lost? Isn't it better to just forget the first two and enjoy your time with this one?]
Mo Aini thought about it, honestly conflicted. He narrowed his eyes at the system. (You're trying to confuse me, aren't you? Trying to get into my head. You said you aren't against the soul convergence because it doesn't affect the Cupid program at all, but why are you always trying to push Hu Chuntian and me away?)
[We're just stating the facts, User Mo Aini. It is up to you how you interpret them, but it doesn't change that it is true.]
Mo Aini ignored this and stood up. As he pushed the door open....
"Da Ge!"
Hu Chuntian came running towards him with a bright smile and a baseball bat behind his back. His cute expression and his outside appearance don't match at all, with his windswept hair, piercings and bandaged hands.
"Da Ge, why didn't you tell me you were Class A all this time?"
"I forgot." Mo Aini patted his shoulder.
"You forgot? Da Ge must be aging really quick, already having awful memory." Hu Chuntian joked. "If it was me, I would never forget that I finally got into Class A. There's this girl I used to like and she was the star of the first play I was in."
Hu Chuntian blinked. "Now that I think about.... She kinda looks like you, Da Ge."
Mo Aini smacked his forehead, thinking. (Here we go again.)
He went to explain that he and Mo Jiagei were siblings, his secret identity in the club as Jie Taime, and all the stuff that has to be said again and again in every route.
Mo Aini realized something as he prattled on. "Wait, 'used to' like? You don't like Mo Jiagei anymore?"
"Don't tell this to anyone else because it would hurt my reputation, Da Ge, but...." Hu Chuntian went over to whisper to him. "She Haoran already claimed her. We had a brawl match and I lost. So I backed off, became his lackey. It was really frustrating that I vent my frustrations on the Shenling flies he asked me to clean up."
"She Haoran is also good at fighting? Is there nothing he couldn't do?" Mo Aini was baffled by this.
Hu Chuntian frowned. "Hey, I'm also quite talented myself Da Ge. Aren't you supposed to be on my side after such a loss?"
"But still.... You got over your feelings for Mo Jiagei just like that?"
Hu Chuntian shrugged. "The girl looks really in love with her boyfriend and I'm not a homewrecker. I don't take scraps and I never steal what doesn't belong to me."
Mo Aini blinked. "She Haoran is already my sister's boyfriend???"
(Then what was the point of this route? Shouldn't they become lovers AFTER the Good Ending? If She Haoran already admitted his feelings and Mo Jiagei's character MC already accepted it, there's no conflict and there's no plot! Why are they together so early!?)
[You'll know why soon enough.]
