ANNE:
I walked along the south wall, looking towards the horizon, where the invaders' camp was. Hundreds of campfire lights and torches adorned the nightscape.
I opened the spyglass and brought it to my eye. I was able to see more clearly. The enemy's troops seemed to be in good condition. There were many guards around the tents, more than could be counted.
Apparently, they had learned their lesson from the last attack they suffered.
Three days had passed since the Prince left the Kristala without accepting the terms of the negotiation, and all the while I was anxious. Wondering if they would attack me first before I attack them.
What was Lord Huescar's plan? Why didn't he attack? And why was he so sure about taking the Kristala?
I closed the spyglass.
"I want us to attack now," I said.
General Fontaine, who was next to me, flinched.
"Duchess, the priest stipulated a week of mourning for the Duke's death."
