BACHUÉ:
"The dark-Skin woman must die at the stake," the archbishop stated forcefully.
"Pardon me, my Lord, but I must disagree," the Duke refuted.
Lord Soto, the Archbishop, Count Ortaez, and I were holed up in the chapel of the Kristala, discussing the outcome of the recently completed trial by duel.
"Did you not see the duel?" asked the archbishop indignantly.
"That is what I ask you," replied the Duke, "We all clearly saw how the Judge fell first."
"Perhaps," Count Ortaez interjected, "but the Judge cut off the dark snow's arm, so he must have died first."
The difference of opinion was because when they took the pulse of the two fallen warriors, neither had a pulse.
So… Who died first?
Indeed, the Judge fell first and seconds later Lorias fell. But… what if the Judge didn't die right away?
What if he was just unconscious until he died afterwards? No one could know for sure. There was a legal uncertainty.
