Chapter 2 - 2: Smoke, fire and many screams

Well the end may have been an exaggeration. The scene Salem saw out side the window was that of a large burning building in the distance. Salem's lab was situated on the banks of the river Thames, situated in Central London, from here he could see the urban jungle of the capital of the UK in every direction he looked.

The building in question, that was currently burning was thw Shard, the largest complex in the city. The tip of the 300 metre was ablaze with an odd green fire that seemed to be spreading rapidly down the glass windows at a sprint. Much to Salem's horror, the green flames continued to dance down the building and he could hear sirens in the distance, indicating that the relevant authorities were trying to handle the situation that was occuring a few miles away from him.

Unbeknownst to the citizens of London and in fact the residents of earth, the green flame that was burning simultaneously: on the Shard in London, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Empire state building in New York, Shanghai Tower, Taipei 101 in Taipei and many other tall iconic buildings, was a beacon.

The flames were similar to the Olympic flames in that they also signified a start and an end. The green flames or 'Oblivions Sigil' as they were later called, were "The indicators of the end of the current world and the birth of a grand transformation that is occurring on mother Earth" as eloquently claimed by poets and scholars in the future. Most normal people however just called it the apocalypse.

Currently in his lonely laboratory, Salem Sinclair was unaware of the future struggles that he and the entire human race would have to deal with. Right now he was simply watching in disbelief a horrific spectacle of a burning building along with the rest of the residents of London.

*pitta* *patta* *pitta* * patta*

Almost by divine blessing, a sudden storm befell the metropolis and it started raining heavily. Miraculously, the green flames were put out by the green rain.

"Wait, why is the rain green?" Salem questioned as he saw the green droplets land on his window, he hurriedly wore some gloves and stuck a beaker out the window to collect a sample of the rain to test.

Salem divided the solution into several samples and put each one into different machinery to run various tests at the same time, a few minutes late the first set of results came in from a few of them. "Unknown" he read from several different reports, a few reports came up as errors and some of the more sensitive instruments stopped working altogether as soon as he inserted the green rainwater into them. "What is going on?" Salem questioned as he put on a hazmat suit in fear of possible radiation from the weird rain. "I should have bought a geiger counter" he lamented as the biochemist wss not in possession of the radiation measuring instrument. He was still waiting for his order of the machine to arrive to his new lab.

*Ring* *Ring*

Salem's phone started Ring and the screen indicated that it was his mom that was calling, she had started a group call and it looked like Sara and Sierra were already in the call. "Come home right now" were the first words Salem heard from Samantha Sinclair as she ordered her beloved children to return to the family abode located in the outskirts of North London.

From the look on Samantha's face, Salem and the rest of his siblings knew it was serious, "Whats going on mom?" He questioned as it seemed like he missed out on something vital from the looks of Sara and Sierra. "The end of the world bro!" Sara had half screamed half cried to him in reply, "What the hell do you mean?" Salem asked, his voice rising an octave in panic. "Sal there's no time to explain, meet up with Sara at the entrance of here college as fast as you can and come to the house, I'll go there directly from the office so you don't have to worry about me." Sierra tried to calmly state but the tinge of panic in her voice was evident.

"I don't know the exact details dear but I just know that a great catastrophe is going to befall the world and its going to start in the major cities first, I was informed by the secretary of defense a few minutes ago and hence why I am calling all of you know. Do what your sister said, quickly meet up with Sara and come home, bring anything in your lab that might be useful, bring as many 'health potions' as you can as well as Corri. Oh and bring Alice and Skye, its very important you do dear."

Before Salem can process what he just heard from his family or ask anymore questions his family ended the call one by one in a hurry to start preparations. Sara sent a map and marked where she would meet Salem through and text and she too ended the call.

In a panicked state Salem starting packing as many 'health potions' as he could into a big leather duffle bag that he often used to store spare lab equipment, additionally Salem also took along some chemicals and equipment that may be useful in regency situations. Salem rushed over to Corri and opened the glass case holding the 1 cubic metre blue slime. He ordered the slime to wrap around his chest and he carried his duffel bag and ran to the elevator.

As Salem descended in the elevator he was wondering what kind of catastrophe was going to befall the city. "Maybe a terrorist attack" he guessed having no idea how wrong he was. After leaving the elevator Salem rushed into the dojo and looked for Alice.

In the corner of the dojo a 5ft6, short black haired beauty was teaching another short haired blonde beauty, that was slight taller than the former, how to kick, unaware of what was happening outside. Alice Moore, two time Olympic gold martial arts and former SAS soldier. She had an athletic figure with the hint of muscles indicative of her active lifestyle, she had ample breasts and a shapely backside which Salem greatly loved.

"Alice, Skye change into comfortable clothes quickly, it's an emergency, you guys are coming with me." Salem hastily said two the two beauties in front of him, trying his best to avoid looking at Alice as the awkwardness was still present between them. The two sisters stared at each other before heading towards the changing rooms in a hurried pace.

Skye Moore was the first one out of the changing rooms wearing activewear and carrying a bag. Skye Moore was slightly taller than her older sister standing at 5ft7 and she was less endowed compared to her sister but regardless she too had a very athletic and nice figure. "As expected of a olympic gymnast" Salem muttered as he admired the blonde beauty.

Once Alice also came out Salem hastily explained what his mum had told him, the two sisters were clearly in disbelief but considering their close relationship to the Sinclair Clan they didn't question what Samantha said and instead started packing essentials into the bags they carried. Salem even saw Alice sneakily hide a pistol into her trousers.

"Guys dojo closed, everyone there's going to be a massive terrorist attack in London get as far away as you guys can!" shouted Alice before she and the other two made there way to Salem's car.

Salem unlocked the doors to his matte black g

G wagon, gifted to him by his elder sister for his birthday. The trio put there luggage in the back and they all hopped into the car.

*Crash* *Bang*

Suddenly a very loud explosion was heard and the tremors were felt by the trio in the car, to the groups horror they could see that an airplane had crashed into the London Eye.

That was not the only thing, screams could be heard all around them and several flames danced around many buildings around the Thames.

Smoke could be seen covering the skyline of the city.
