Chereads / The Awakened Mechanic / Chapter 7 - 7. The red serum

Chapter 7 - 7. The red serum

Maketh looked at Vader who was lying there with anticipation.

"Vader Herko... You are a great guy and a good friend. But, I will make this clear..."

"After you inject me, I'll leave this place. If I die, I die... Your life won't be intervened." Vader said with a smile.

"No, you dimwit... I wasn't asking for you to leave. You are my patient and my responsibility until you leave. I was about to explain with what materials. I've made this," Maketh frowned.

"Hah, my bad," Vader sighed.

"Okay... I have named this serum the Red serum. Every single molecule within this is alive."

As soon as he activated and focused on the red serum in Maketh's hand the information of the item began to appear in front of him.

[Red serum (Regenerative injection)]

[Details: It possesses molecules similar to nanites called organite, a natural compound. It is made with molecules of the species called Kryna. The red serum holds properties that can reconstruct dead cells, modify cells, modify genes and the internal system of any living organisms.]

[Note: The organites aren't programmed and need to be improved.]

[Possible side effects: Heart stroke, Fiber stiffening, blood coagulation]

[Uses: Quick recovery, Rebuilds tissues, and fibers, Higher immunity]

'Possible side effects? This is a gamble... But, I do not have a choice. I don't want to like my incarnation of the past. I want to achieve something!' Vader thought.

Well, he had to gamble, no questions asked. This is the only way for him. If it succeeds he'll be doing things that'll rival the stellar wielders.

"I extracted these from the bone marrow of Kryna. Honestly, this is a gamble. I couldn't modify these or tame the particles within this, to follow the whims of the treatment. They are just rawly synthesized with a few medicinal chemicals."

Kryna is a beast known for its healing factor. Though the healing rate of those monsters is low, it is an incomparable factor if it's injected into humans. After all, the physique varies very much between both humans and a monster.

However, those weren't truly nanites. They were similar in some cases but, those were different if compared. The organites cannot be programmed like nanites. They choose their ways to work on their own.

"I am doing this because you mentioned you have a passion for something... By injecting this within you we are officially partners in crime."

Maketh said, placing the injection on Vader's arm. The injection didn't seem normal. The sheer size of the syringe would make people flinch back in fear because the container was about the size of a hand with red particles moving within it.

At first sight, the content would seem like a nonviscous liquid but upon focusing one can see the particles moving around.

"Turn your focus elsewhere or on me."

Maketh said.

When Vader focused on him, he abruptly injected the red serum.

"Argh! Fuck!"

Vader cursed as Maketh pinned him down on the table since tried to jump in a startle.

He swiftly tied him on the table.

"Take a deep breath and within a few minutes things will start to kick in."

"AHh! Hah!"

As he instructed, Vader took a deep breath. Unlike Maketh's expectation and calculation things went amiss and chaotic. As soon as he got it, injecting the serum began to work.

"Stay cool! Focus your mind on the wounds you want to heal. Concentrate and focus!"

The next moment Vader closed his eyes and began to focus on every single place that was paining for him including the cut on his face one by one.

He couldn't help but feel the blisters forming on his hands. He was able to feel the organites forcing themselves through his blood vessels.

Suddenly Vader got struck as his mouths arched to a corner along with his legs twitching.

"No! No! No!"

Maketh uttered and grabbed him.

However, his worry faded away as Vader retained control over his body but he coughed blood out of his mouth.

"You'll be alright! Endure!

As they were speaking, the molecules injected within him rushed through every direction that was possible and entered the wounded areas, and inflicted severe pain from the inside of his body. The process will surely take one or two days to fully heal since this wasn't something that's programmed with biotechnology. It is something of an organic matter extracted from a monster to heal itself so, injecting it into anything else will certainly cause disruption to get itself merged into the host's body.

There weren't heartbeat monitoring machines but Maketh sensed his pulse going down and began to give him CPR.

It was a battle of time. If Vader endures this adversity he'll be resurrected as a brand new man. After a few minutes of struggle, Vader fell unconscious.

Maketh didn't give anesthesia since Vader should direct the serum and particles through his blood vessels which would have gone haywire if he went unconscious.

Three days later,

"Arghh..." With a groan, Vader woke up.

The first thing he noticed was Maketh who was sleeping in a corner of the room. It seemed like he was tired from the things he had to go through for two days.

Vader might not know but, he had several strokes and sudden ups and downs in his heart rate for two days which made Maketh sleepless.

"I feel healthier than before."

Vader said to himself and dismounted the table, beginning to stretch his hands and legs to warm up his body.

Originally the organite is a healing factor of Kryna so, obviously, it could even seal the cracked bones of a mere human. But, he felt his muscles have become stiffer. It was certainly a side effect caused because of the regeneration.

"uhh? You woke up?"

Maketh asked drowsily, opening his heavy eyelids.

"You woke up!"

Maketh snapped out and yelled.

"Yes, thanks to you," Vader replied with a smile.

"Haha, I thought you wouldn't wake up." Maketh laughed.

"Haha, guess I am fated for greatness." Vader boasted wearing a cocky smile on his face.

"So, What are you going to do next?"

"Hunting," Vader replied indifferently.

"Hunting?" Maketh said furrowing his brows.

"Yes, hunting... I'll have to get back at those bastards," Vader replied as he picked up the grey cloak lying at the corner of the room.

"But how are you going to take them down without Stellar capabilities? Moreover, we have to check your condition before moving." Maketh said.

"Agreed, but, It's guns that'll defeat them. Also, I don't have time to run through tests."

"It just takes a few hours and you know full well that they can easily defeat guns," Maketh said.

What he said was true. The range of the guns made in Nanor is low. Also buying one would be hard. The current government of Bodium had placed several bans and taboos. Lastly even if he succeeds in getting one, the stellar wielders would easily defeat him.

Stellar wielders are gifted with extreme senses. In simple terms, they are superhumans with heightened senses. So, compared to them Vader was a mere human who hasn't even trained his human senses to the peak of what a human can achieve.

"I just have to come up with tactics."

"I just hope you'll make it back alive. But, I want to hear about what your goal is."

"The first Mechanic scavenger who'll turn the tides of Nanor."

"Mechanics? I didn't know you were interested in mechanics."

"Few things happened."

"Well, I don't understand what happened to you but, sort of giving out a different feeling... But, I thought you were more interested in becoming a scavenger."

"Maybe it's the scar on my face"

"Haha, Indeed... You seem like a criminal now. No offense."

Maketh laughed, patting Vader's shoulder.

"Haha, Sure... It seems the serum couldn't heal the scars inflicted by toxins, Maybe we can work on that." Vader said.

"Seems like so. From what I can see. You simply want to make those bastards pay. Also, I didn't know you were interested in mechanics but that doesn't branch with the serum? Are you perhaps saying that you'll make the serum work to our command?"

"Exactly! You are surely a genius to catch up with what I said... We'll talk about this later. I'll leave now. Your father might start suspecting you."

"Hah, indeed, that man gets on my nerves. I'll soon be moving out. Also, where are you going to stay?"

"In the slums."

Vader replied indifferently.

"Hmm okay, But make sure to be careful," Maketh said looking at Vader's blood-clogged eyes.
