After going through a few final things, Zoe left my office.
The door behind her barely closed when it opened again.
"Did you forget something?" I asked, thinking it was Zoe.
To my surprise, Duke appeared at the door.
"It seems you forgot about your mate," he grumbled.
I didn't expect him there. Did he wait outside for Zoe and me to finish?
I looked helplessly at the silly man. From grumpy about me leaving for one night, he turned into a child who was sulking now.
"How could I forget about you? Come here."
"No," he pouted.
I gave in and stood up to walk to him.
"You know I will be back in the morning, right?"
Duke narrowed his eyes at me. "It will be a long night without you, Serina." His expression was stern, but I could see the grief and longing hiding in his endlessly blue eyes.
