He jolted awake when a voice called out his name, opening his eye and glancing around him. He frowned, seeing no one and wondering if he was beginning to lose it, when he heard his name called out again. He looked towards the source of the voice, seeing it was coming from his hand, or more like the ring on his left ring finger. He had completely forgotten about the ring Elaine gave him five years ago, and her voice called his name, causing him to slowly raise it to his face and answer.
"Yes, I am here."
He heard her cry for joy, glad to hear her voice; unlike her, he had no way of finding out where she was besides rumors, and they all stop at her destroying thousands of soldiers with a storm of fire.
"I was so worried! Are you alright? Where are you?"
He paused before answering, not wanting to worry her anymore and making sure his tone was not off.
