Jack threw some more wood on the fire, making sure that it was going well and that he had plenty of wood to keep it that way for the night. He frowned at the stone walls of the cave, wishing he had somewhere better to take them; once the guards learned of their escape, the entire city would go on lock down, with buildings being searched to try and find them. He was fortunate that he had discovered this little cave on the way here, otherwise they would be camping in the open, exposed to the elements and any patrols.
He took out some meat from a snow deer he happened upon when he was looking for firewood, skewering it on a stick before holding it over the fire to cook. The sky was dark and filled with angry looking clouds, and he was grateful to find some food for the elves before the rain hit, making things more miserable than they already were. Once the meat was done, he ripped it apart and handed some to Noelle and Anastasia, pulling out a water skin with blood for Annie.
