Jack stabbed his sword the instant they appeared elsewhere, the vampire vanishing again. He looked around, frowning as he did not know where they were; they were still in the plains, but he couldn't hear or smell the place of the massacre anymore. He turned, seeing three vampires standing before him, and he knew who they were without asking, glaring as he took his helmet off, the sun having finally set. He tossed it aside, unclasping his cloak and letting it fall to the ground, seeing them do the same as he pointed his blade at them, knowing that the others could be in danger and not wanting to waste time.
"Clever little trap, but I do not have time for this. Stop chasing after me; I am not going to return to the army to be killed. Move aside, or this time I really will kill you."
He waited for their response, his heart beating faster as his adrenaline began to course through his veins. He really didn't want to kill them, as they were the only other vampires besides Midnight and Drake that he had grown close to. Twilight opened her eyes, more calm than last time but still filled with anger and confusion as she spoke.
"Jack...we have decided to stop you. If that elf is killed, we can convince Zillion that you were brainwashed by her magic, or any excuse we can think of. But we know you will not let us, so we have to take care of you first. I hope you can forgive us for this, but I will not allow some elf to take you away from us."
They drew their weapons and charged at him, all three of them attacking at the same time. He waited for them, taking deep breaths, and the fight began, Jack moving and parrying as Ethan and Twilight attacked him at the same time. His sword became a blur as it moved, his eyes flicking back and forth between the two, trying to conserve his energy as best as he could. He found an opening and struck, only for his sword to be yanked towards Rebecca's shield at the last second, throwing him off balance as she stabbed at him. He moved at the last second, her sword skidding off of his armor, and regained his stance, continuing their deadly dance as he looked for a way past their offense.
Rebecca's ability allowed her to turn her shield, or anything metal, into a magnet and attract one other metal. She used this to keep him from attacking the other two, attracting his sword whenever he attempted to attack to throw him off balance and save her comrades. Twilight kept up her attack, getting faster as her blows began to hit harder and harder, and Ethan kept appearing in different places randomly, trying to catch Jack off guard and land a blow. The three of them worked well together, and he found himself too pressured to use his black liquid ability, having to focus on three different skilled enemies at once.
He kept his composure, increasing how fast his brain processed images, the three vampires appearing to move slower. He could increase his speed and try to kill them quickly, but that would use a lot of energy, and these three knew how he fought well; Rebecca's timing with her ability matched his breathing perfectly, always using it right as he was about to attack, able to predict his actions from how many times they trained with him. None of them had landed a decisive blow yet, but he could feel himself beginning to grow tired, and Twilight's blows were beginning to hit hard, jarring his arm every time he parried her sword and making it go sore. If things kept on like this, he would lose, and he could not allow that to happen.
He began evading all of Twilight's attacks, only using his blade to block or parry her when absolutely necessary, his mind racing as he tried to think under the pressure they were applying. Just like they knew how he fought, he knew how they fought together, and he knew that he would get nowhere unless he could stop Rebecca from interrupting his attacks.
He suddenly struck out at Twilight, aiming for her face, and as he thought she would, Rebecca activated her ability, pulling his sword towards her shield as she stabbed out at him. This was what he wanted, and as his body moved towards her, he activated his black liquid, forming a blade on his left hand. He roared, charging and taking her sword to his shoulder, the blade being caught in his armor and cutting into his flesh. Her eyes grew wide with surprise as he swung his other arm, sinking the black spike into her throat.
The other two froze for a second, eyes wide with surprise as Rebecca looked at the spike. Before she could blink, he yanked the spike out and kicked her away, her sword being yanked from his shoulder as her blood sprayed into the air, covering his face as he swung around. Their hesitation over Rebecca's death proved fatal, as he swung around and plunged his sword into Ethan's chest, finding a gap in his armor and sinking his blade into flesh, his speed so great that the sword burst out of the armor on his back. Ethan gasped, the life fleeing from his eyes as his body fell back, Jack's sword getting stuck and being pulled from his grasp.
He turned around just as Twilight roared, and her blade came at his face. He moved his head back too late, the tip of her short sword hitting the left side of his temple and slicing down his face, adding a new scar to join the others as he felt his face explode in pain. He grabbed her arm before she could pull it away, his black liquid rising from the ground and covering his body. She screamed, tears streaming down her face as she lifted her other hand to strike, but his black liquid shot out, turning into spikes and piercing her chest and armor with east, stopping her attack.
She looked into his eyes, pain and grief flooding her eyes before the life faded from them, her head falling and her body going limp. He cancelled his ability, her body falling hard to the ground with a thump. He panted heavily, his face and shoulder protesting as his heart hurt, having killed three vampires that he had once considered siblings. He fell to one knee, trying to catch his breath and compose himself, surrounded by their blood and dead bodies, and before he made his way back to the others, he let his tears fall freely, knowing that it would be a long time before he got over their deaths at his hands.
"Why...didn't you listen? Why did it have to end this way? Why why why why why!"
He yelled at no one, crying quietly to himself, their dead bodies providing no answers.
