Chereads / Global Castle Age: My Farmers are Level 100 / Chapter 2 - Farmers Can Level Up

Chapter 2 - Farmers Can Level Up

'Wait a minute, am I seeing things?'

Xu Hang rubbed his eyes. The farmers had indeed leveled up. He was shocked but also excited at the same time.

However, his excitement did not last long. Xu Hang quickly calmed down and fell into deep thought.

'How unusual!

'According to the rules of this game, leveling up requires a certain amount of resources.'

However, Xu Hang noticed that other than the 40 grains required to summon the additional two farmers, the rest of his resources did not decrease at all!

The farmers had leveled up all by themselves. It was fantastic!

'Perhaps the farmers could level up through mining and planting things?'

Xu Hang's eyes lit up.

'What an amazing game!'

The farmers were ready to excavate the gold mine but first, a gold-mining building was required.

'It costs 100 wood and the building will be done in one hour. That's pretty fast!'

He gave his instructions to the farmers.

After that, Xu Hang found a shady spot under a tree and took a nap.

Not long after, the farmers called out for him.

"Master, the gold-mining building has been completed. Do you want us to start digging the gold mine now?"

"Ah, have I slept for so long?"

Xu Hang opened his eyes and looked at the diligent farmers who stood in front of him.

He nodded slightly.

Then, he realized something.

"Huh? It had only been half an hour?!"

Xu Hang was dumbstruck.

"You guys finished building in just half an hour?! Are you kidding me?"

The farmers did not provide any explanation. They merely moved aside and revealed the building behind them.

It was a building made entirely out of wood and it looked exactly like the picture of the level 1 gold-mining building that Xu Hang saw in the system.

A brand new level 1 gold-mining building!

Xu Hang also noticed something else.

The two farmers seemed to be much stronger than they were half an hour ago.

As if the system had read his mind, it proceeded to display the farmers' statistics.

[ Farmer ]

[ Strength Level: 3 ]

[ Attack: 28 ]

[ Defense: 26 ]

[ Endurance: 26 ]

'They actually... leveled up again?!

'Rather fast too!

'How intriguing!'

Xu Hang then saw a message on the world chat channel.

[ Can farmers level up? ]

He silently stared at the message. Fortunately, he had the option to hide his ID, so he did not have to worry about the anomaly being exposed.

Besides, it might not even be an anomaly. Perhaps this was just a part of the game's mechanics.

[ Are you joking? ]

[ Where did this noob come from? Farmers are trash. ]

[ Even if we could, what's the point of leveling a farmer? Hahaha. ]

Upon seeing the wave of replies, Xu Hang frowned. Their words were annoying him!

'Does this mean that one shouldn't be able to level up the farmers?

'Could it be a bug?'

After thinking about it, Xu Hang looked at the chat again.

[ Wait, farmers can level up, right? ]

[ Zhang Wuji: Farmers can't level up. Only soldiers can level up! ]

[ Zhang Wuji: I've already built a level 1 barracks and produced soldiers. Food and gold are required to level them up, but I also needed to be at least level 10 to progress any further! ]

[ Zhang Wuji: Sigh! It's a pity that I'm currently only level 5! It's too slow! When will I be able to dominate this world? ]

Following that, a screenshot of a level 5 soldier could be seen.

[ F*ck! This guy is no joke! I worship you! ]

[ Boss, can you take me as your underling? I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm only level 2 now! ]

[ Please help me! ]

[ Me too! ]

[ Zhang Wuji: Talk to me privately. For just 20 grains, I'll provide you with all the tips and tricks! ]

...

Everyone in the world chat channel seemed to be worshipping Zhang Wuji.

Xu Hang silently closed the screenshot of the soldier.

"What rubbish. His level 5 soldier had half the numerical values compared to my level 3 farmer!"

"Did I encounter a legendary bug?"

The farmers were still mining and Xu Hang's resources were increasing at a rapid pace.

Suddenly, it hit Xu Hang on how this game should be played.

Survival game? No! This is an infrastructure game!

All he had to do was build different sorts of buildings and upgrade them. It's that simple.

The invasion? It did not matter!

Since the farmers were leveling so quickly, their combat power was also off the charts. Defending his castle would be child's play.

'Right now, I just need to focus on building!

'First, I'll set a small goal. I'm going to build a city!

'Before that, I need to choose a suitable location. That's quite important!'

Xu Hang looked at one of the farmers who was mining and waved his hand.

The farmer dropped his shovel and walked towards him. Then, he said respectfully, "Master, what are your orders?"

"Come with me!"

Xu Hang decided to name the farmer Hill. Together, they went deeper into the forest.

Previously, he dared not explore because he was worried that he might run into danger, but now that he had Hill as his bodyguard, Xu Hang felt much more at ease.

With each step they took, the pitch-black map gradually lit up. Although it was only displayed as a little corner, the map had actually covered a radius of ten miles.

The danger within the ten miles radius had been eliminated and the area could be considered as Xu Hang's private territory.

Xu Hang inspected the landscape. In order to build a city, a water source was very important.

Hill carried an axe and was walking behind Xu Hang. He focused on the surroundings and made sure that there were no dangers along the way.

The system suddenly popped up a window.

[ Discovered a hidden treasure! Do you want to mark the spot? ]

Xu Hang's eyes lit up. Once again, he had discovered something valuable!

[ Yes ]

A light blue dot promptly appeared on the map. Xu Hang followed the directions according to the map and soon arrived at his destination.

He could see a bronze chest lying quietly by a path. The chest was stained by some paint.

However, more importantly, there was a ferocious wolf beside the chest. It seemed to have noticed Xu Hang's presence.

The wolf immediately stood up and had a fierce gaze in its eyes. It then charged at an extremely high speed towards Xu Hang's direction.

In just a few seconds, the wolf was directly in front of Xu Hang. Its entire body was emitting the stench of blood.

Xu Hang went numb. He was horrified.

"Hill! Do something!"

After saying that, Xu Hang turned around and ran as fast as he could!

His heart was filled with the desire to survive.

"Awoo..."

A fierce roar was heard and then, it was silent.

'Did Hill settle it?'

Just as Xu Hang was about to let out a sigh of relief, footsteps could be heard coming from behind him. It was getting louder and louder.

Xu Hang was about to take off again but suddenly, a hand grabbed his shoulder. His entire body stiffened

A familiar voice rang out.

"Master, it's settled!"

Upon hearing his voice, Xu Hang let down his guard and his despair disappeared. His sore and numb thighs could not support him any longer and he fell to the ground.

Xu Hang turned his head around and saw Hill.

Hill had a simple and honest smile on his face. He held the wolf's head in one of his hands while carrying the rest of the wolf's body on the other. Fresh blood was dripping onto the ground. The sight was rather cruel.
