Chapter 17 - Choice

Glancing at the door, Rollin noticed Branch and introduced to Sylvie with a smile. "This house is his home. I'm just borrowing this place! His name is Branch!"

Seeing that he had frightened the little girl, Branch took out a jar of candy from the cabinet.

After grabbing some candy, he squatted down beside Sylvie and handed the candy to her.

"I'm sorry! I'm born tall, but please don't be afraid! I'm sorry for scaring you!"

Seeing the kind-looking Branch, Sylvie took a red candy from his wide palm.

She held Branch's hand with her other hand and introduced herself in a low voice, "my name is Sylvie!"

With that, she pulled her hand away and hid behind Rollin, sticking her head out to look at Branch.

In order not to scare her again, Branch sat at the side of the dining table and said to Rollin, "there are cheese and hot dogs in the refrigerator freezer! There are vegetables and bread in the crisper. You can make some breakfast!"

Knowing the location of the ingredients, Rowling arranged for Sylvie to sit across from Branch and began to make breakfast on the stove.

In half an hour, a pot of corn soup and sandwich sets were ready and placed on the table.

Before bringing these things to the table, Rollin found that Sylvie was already sitting with Branch and playing games.

This made him look at Branch in a new light. No wonder he saw a group of children surrounding Branch previously. It was probably because he was kind!

After breakfast, the three of them sat in the dining room and started talking.

In the morning, Sylvie had just woken up and had not sorted out what she should do. Now, Rollin had to make some decisions. He said to Sylvie beside him, "I'm in a very difficult situation. It's not convenient for me to take you with me!"

"If possible, can you tell me about your family? That way, I can think of a way to help you back to them."

When she heard that Rollin was going to send her back, some tears immediately flowed out of the corners of Sylvie's eyes.

Seeing this scene, even Branch, who was opposite her, could no longer bear to watch.

"If you're very busy, you can leave her with me first!"

Hearing this, Rollin immediately told Branch, "it's complicated... It's not that I can't arrange for her. I want to know what happened to her."

"If there's a large group of forces chasing after her, and if I rashly leave her with you, it will bring you a disastrous problem! I brought her here, so I have to take responsibility until the end!"

Hearing this, Branch could not say anything. He could only sit there quietly and wait for Sylvie to say something.

After calming down for a while, Sylvie said to Rollin, "It's a very long story! I hope you can quietly hear me out. I was a little girl who grew up in the slums. I have nothing to do with anything..."

Sylvie told them about her background in a very concise manner.

"The Dumyakan family? That's really a big problem!"

After hearing Sylvie's background, Rollin could not help but feel sympathetic towards her. At least, he still had his grandfather's secret help, and his life went relatively smoothly. However, this little girl who looked like she was only in her teens had actually encountered so many troubles.

Not only did she have to face the pursuit of her biological father, but she also had to find out the cause of her mother's death.

Branch, who was by the side, was already filled with tears. Rollin had never expected this two-meter-tall man to be so gentle.

"I've already understood the matter. The enemy is Dumyakan, but I can still help you!"

"I'll give you two choices! The first is to go to my grandfather's Stoke family's territory! The other is to stay here with Branch for the time being. I'll come and pick you up after I'm done!"

"At this stage, I'm also facing a very big problem, so I have no way to help you in these two years!"

After hearing Rollin's words, Sylvie was very hesitant, but she had no choice but to make a choice.

The intelligent Sylvie quickly understood Rollin's intentions. She asked, "if I go to the Stoke family, will I be able to obtain learning resources?"

Rollin rubbed his head and thought for a moment. Since his grandfather could not help him completely, then helping to take care of someone should be a very simple matter.

"There's not much of a problem. I'll see what you choose!"

"You don't need to worry about these things because even if my grandfather doesn't pay, I can still help you with my own methods!"

After hearing Rollin's promise, Sylvie was a little hesitant. Why did this man in front of her want to help her?

However, now, she did not have so much time to think about these problems!

Whether it was to be used as leverage, or get her to become a slave, she no longer had the leeway to refuse. As long as she could obtain the power to grow, any price was worth it!

Thus, Sylvie steeled her heart and said, "I want to go to the Stoke family to obtain the power to grow! No matter what kind of terms you offer in the end, I will not reject you!"

Seeing her determined gaze, Rollin felt a headache, but he did not want to explain too much.

After all, this little girl was picked up by him. Out of the kindness of his heart, Rollin had no way of casually throwing her away.

"Alright! We'll talk about the price later. I'll go and contact my grandfather now."

Hearing the conversation between the two, Branch could not help but be surprised. He had never thought that Rollin was actually the grandson of the Stoke family.

Rollin walked out of the room, sent Sylvie's photo and name to his grandfather, and then dialed his number.

After letting the phone ring three times, Twain picked up. "Hello! Is this Rollin? I've seen the information! What do you want me to do?"

"I hope that you can help me raise this child well, grandfather, so that she will be useful to me in the future."

Hearing this, Twain was silent for a moment before he agreed to the matter.

"The daughter of the Dumyakan family? What an interesting thing!"

"When you send her back, just find someone to help her change the color of her hair!"

"Leave the rest to me. I'll raise her as the family's elite!"

After hanging up the communication device, Rollin returned to the living room and said to Sylvie, "the matter has been settled. You don't need to worry about your future."

"Just live peacefully in the Stoke family's territory!"
