The sun's unwelcoming light hits me right in the eyes as soon as I wake up winning a wince me. Annoyed, I grabbed my phone beside the bed and looked at the time. 8:05 am. Surprised my brain went blank for a moment processing the information before jumping out of bed and dashing to the bathroom like it was my mid-life crisis.
I rush through my daily schedule in the bathroom halfway through I glance at my phone which I had dragged along with me and stop. It was ...Labor Day? Thinking my phone was glitching I quickly asked Google and I got the same answer. It was Labor Day.
"Wasn't Labor day yesterday?" Confused I dazedly walked out and sat on the couch. I swore it was Labor day yesterday. Because it had those things in the sky right? I quickly look outside to the sky and...nothing.
Nothing was in the sky. Wait, what was I looking for again? Why would anything be in the sky? Bewildered, I stood in the middle of the living room feeling like I had forgotten something and the feeling kept bothering me nonstop. Hearing the footsteps of my adopted dad. I turn to the stairs.
"Oh, you're up early." My stepdad said before smiling. "Did you forget today is Labor Day?" I stared at him and was still dazed "Hey, you okay?" Slowly, I responded. "Yeah I'm fine but, wasn't yesterday Labor Day? I can swear I saw it yesterday....! Ugh, what did I see?!"
Raising an eyebrow my stepdad stepped closer to me. "Are you sure you're okay?" He carefully puts a hand on my shoulder. "Y-Yeah, I'm sure. ...What was I talking about again?" We both blinked at each other. "I think you were saying you had a headache, I-I don't remember myself actually."
"Yeah, your right I do have a bit of a headache." Deciding to just move on, I look at the clock on a wall. "It's getting pretty close to 8:30. Do you wanna eat something?"
Kim nodded before saying he'll make breakfast and ordered me to sit down. I tried arguing but I was quickly shot down. And like that the day passed along. Although nothing was out of the ordinary I couldn't help but feel like something was wrong. Evening came and so did my stepmother Alis from her job as a local nurse. Everything was normal as I crawled into bed. Everything was normal when fell asleep. And everything was normal in my dreams.

The next morning I woke up and snatched my phone turning it on. The number 7:00 flashes on the screen. "Thank god " I mumble, as I bounce off the bed. Quickly using the bathroom. I head downstairs to eat breakfast. The entire house is quiet as I pour some cereal into a bowl. By the time I've finished breakfast and changed. It was already 7:30, so I quickly left the house whispering goodbye as I left.
Arriving at the bus stop I slow down seeing a familiar face. Who, I had just become familiar with just yesterday. Rory was it? His family had sent him here because of a scholarship he had gotten overseas in his home country. Something about STEM? Anyways he was now living with Mrs. and Mr. Thomson next door.
The person in question was happily chatting with a group of people that were in the nearby school Merrico's Engineering club, seemingly talking about robots. Suddenly as if feeling my gaze Rory turned to Me and upon seeing me, his face lit up.
"Yo! Adrian ower 'ere!" He waved his hands over to me. Walking over I wave my hands back at him. "How are you doing settling in?" I ask looking down the highway before turning back to Rory. "Eh, naething muckle. Aye'm pissed that ah have tae go tae school whin ah juist kinda git 'ere two days ago. Lik' let me rest a wee bit, am ah right?" Rory said laughing.
"Ah! Let me introduce ye tae mah, fresh mates." Rory quickly introduced me to all the people he was talking to before. They awkwardly waved their hands at me and hesitantly one of them tried sticking a conversation with me.
"You go to Centennial, right?" I frown before leaning forward "Can you say that again?" She repeats the question louder this time and I respond in turn and we manage to pick up a decent conversation before the bus arrives. As the bus nears a crowd of kids forms, eager to get on the bus first.
I feel a pull on my hand and I look up to Rory. "What's wrong?" Rory waved his hand "Hee haw, juist wanted tae speak wi' ye" I raise my eyebrows. "What about your new friends?"
"Agh, they kin hauld yer horses, We'll be in th' identical dancin anyways. Beasides yer mah neighbor!" Widening his smile Rory pulled me on the bus and we spent the time to our respective schools talking.
There was a bit of a comedic happening when he realized we were going to different schools and had a look like an abandoned puppy.
After he had been gently kicked out of the bus with a little help from me and his robotics friends, I sat down again put on headphones, and sat down looking out the window. "The skies are pretty clear, no one clouds at all..." My voice whispered to me as I gazed up into the heavens.
"Damn, this MafuNafu song slaps."
Eventually, I reached Centennial the school I had been going to for the last year or so. "Have a nice day!" I say to the bus driver as I step off the bus flowing into the crowd of kids entering the school. Looking around the main entrance I spot Ella, a friend of mine at the door to the cafeteria. I call to her and wave, she looks up from her phone hearing me. I squeeze through the crowd to get to her.
"Where's Micheal?" I huff out when I finally reach her. "He overslept so he's late," she replied signaling for me to sit down. "Ha, Mr. Perfect overslept, well that's new," I note looking at the sea of kids looking for Micheal, Ella's boyfriend.
Ella pouted "Give him a break, he's been like, helping no-stop for Shres's party. He said doesn't have any more plans afterward so bear with it a bit." I raise my eyebrows and smile, resting my forearm on the wall's edge. "Someone's jealous~." Ella's pout turned into a frown. "Mind your own business." She mumbled turning her attention back down to her phone.
I put my hands up smirking showing my innocence. I look back at the steady river of students coming into the building. 966 students right? Almost a thousand students. I look at a nearby map of the school and note its seemingly small stature compared to the number of student bodies it possessed.
'Well more than one-third probably only attends in name, ditching to get addicted to some random drug.'
Amused by my own joke I smirk. Suddenly an arm rest's it's self on my shoulder startling me. "Who got you smiling like" A blonde boy with a bright smile comparable to Rory's enters my vision. "Dude, Micheal, you scared the shit out of me."
"Damn, my bad you chill?" He said as he rubbed his hand on his shoulder. "Nah, I'm fine, but I shouldn't be the person you should be worrying about you know?" Micheal frowns "What do you mean? Is someone hurt?" He whispered concerned.
"Not now but pretty soon~" Micheal's face twitched "Stop playing around who's in trouble." Raising an eyebrow I smirk and point to Ella, who was unamusingly looking over at us. "Ooooh. Shit." Laughing at my poor friend's despair. I see him backing away slowly acting like he didn't see Ella. His movement was quickly stopped by a hand grabbing his backpack.
Chuckling he turns to me "Whatcha are you doing Adrian? Surely, you wouldn't, right?" Micheal slowly turns to me. "Right?" Micheal squeaks quietly. I smile calmly "Don't worry I'll send flowers to your funeral. Besides a captain goes down with the ship."
Looking at me with horror as I pulled him towards Ella, trying to resist, but eventually giving in. "When did I become a captain of a ship?" Honestly, it felt like I was handing in a convict. "Look at who I caught!" I waved at Ella. "Thanks, Adrian. Now, WE, need to have a talk." Ella says through gritted teeth, staring a hole into Micheal. "Could you give us some space?"
"Be my guest" I said as I opened my arms. Ella simply nodded.
While being dragged away Micheal threw me a middle finger, which I kindly returned with a bow of course. Smiling, I rise back up shaking my head. "He never learns, does he? This is like the fifth time he ignored her and spoke to someone else first. Ah~ the troubles of young love."
Suddenly the morning bell rang signaling the start of school. and the river of students that had slowed down to a trickle was revived back into its great momentum. I began to move with the crowd to carr-
Suddenly my world shook and I found myself under and on top of numerous students. Groans of pain and several curses floated in the air. Slowly argument calmed down and everyone got up and carefully looked around.
And immediately something was clear. We definitely wouldn't be in school today. "What the Fuck" I heard someone say as rolling green hills and a blank white sky greeted us
