"Everybody, get in your positions! We will initiate our attack as soon as the diversion begins," Said Nyoko,
We hid and waited for the arrival of other soldiers from afar. The intensity that we felt during our long anticipation boiled eventually came to ease when we saw our men charging to every entry point of Fairdrift.
The Devil's army wasn't expecting the attack. They were all scattered around from their positions when our soldiers storming them in well-mannered formation. The fight has finally begun. The sound of clashing swords thundering through the sky and the voice of raging soldiers filled the entire city,
"This is our moment! Charge!" Nyoko shouted,
We began to set our movements towards the city. The diversion was a big success. None of the Devil's army was focusing on us while we marched ourselves into the main gate.
While we were sprinting down the street, Nyoko said to us, "From the intel we've gathered, Uglin may be located somewhere in the upper district of the city. Let's split up into two subgroups! Ichijou! Darren! Come with me! The rest of you! Check the west and southern point of the district!"
"I will give the leading for your subgroup to Cicily! She will be in command for all of you!"
"Yes! Commander!" Cicily replied to her,
Nyoko then proceeded to say, "If any of us located the whereabouts of Uglin, send a blue signal up to the sky! We will come to aid before battling him! Remember, signal up and do not approach the target until we arrive!"
We nodded abundantly and responded, "At your command!"
Onward from that, we finally split up. Along the course of our searching, it didn't go as smoothly as we expected. Although having a massive diversion made by the other soldiers, Fairdrift was filled to the brim with enemies. We kept stumbling upon the Devil's army, who tried to stop us from going further.
Instead of fighting against them, Cicily commanded the regular soldiers in our team to take the enemy down, "Charge them all soldiers!"
We have to conserve our energy as much as we can. Fighting against one of the Great Devil's General must be taken in great seriousness. One wrong step could literally spell our death.
About an hour has the battle rage, we finally received our first green signal from the group located in the northern part of the gate. They succeeded in securing the perimeter. Our hope was up to the roof to learn the news. Cicily then shouted to us,
"Our brother and sisters are counting on us! We must locate Uglin as fast as we can!"
"Yes! Captain!" We shouted,
Eventually, we finally arrived at our first destination; the west point of the upper district. The enemies that were guarding that place shooked when they saw us came. No time was wasted, and they charged us instantly while riding on the back of their monsters.
The lizard-like creature with jet-black fangs sticking out of their jaws and a body charred like a lump of burning coal began to devour our men. This is one of the toughest battles yet for us. The enemy that we're dealing with moved ten times the speed of the normal ones. Their agility, as well as flexibility, made us having a hard time striking them.
I tried to avoid using my Karma against them so that I could utilize it much later when we found Uglin. But, these creatures have been pushing us back with their powerful attacks, leaving me no other choice but to use them.
To avoid the soldiers from being killed by those monsters, I summoned my shield and called Olympius to fend the attacks. It was a great benefit; Olympius was able to take all the damage into his shield and protect the other soldiers, giving them a chance to back out and return to their primacy.
Ellisa was a great help healing up the wounded soldiers while Cicily attacked those monsters with her magnificent bow skills from afar. I kept Olympius on my side to stay on guard while I took out my sword to countered the attack,
"Hero stance: Smite!"
A glimmering, red surge sparks appeared onto the blade of my sword when I swung it towards the opponent. The attack resulted in a massive shockwave shooting out from the swing that I made, obliterated the enemies on site. But, not all of the Devil's army was affected by it; some of them were able to dodge just in time before it hit them.
They were all attempted to engage me when they assumed I was done with my attack. Then they realized how naive they were when I began to strike another skill upon them,
"Hero stance: Execute!"
I swiftly slammed my sword onto the ground, and hundreds of light particles immerged up in the air above the enemy. It began barraging upon them at high speed, killing every single one that's left in the vicinity.
"Nice one, Kiseki!" applauded by both Ellisa and Cicily,
A few moments later, we were presented by another green signal up in the sky coming from the west point of the entrance gate. We were delighted by how well are the soldiers from other groups were doing. But somehow, there was some unsettling feeling that I had lurking inside me about this mission.
The fact that this operation has been flawless from the beginning was the main reason I felt bothered. It's perfectly executed, too perfect. I tried not to let myself be hindered by this feeling and progressed with the mission.
"Everyone check the whole area for Uglin! Report back once you find him! If not, we will proceed to the south side of the upper district!" said Cicily,
The soldiers then responded eagerly, "Yes, Captain!" and began their hunt,
Ellisa was still healing some of the wounded soldiers at the rear end of our formation. She looked pretty happy how this was all going,
"We will definitely win this battle, guys! Keep fighting!" She said to the wounded soldiers,
They were melted by Ellisa's cheerful personality and replied, "Yes, Ma'am!"
I wonder how Ichijou's group was doing. I Hope their searches when smoothly as ours,
Ichijou's POV
"These monsters are everywhere! Darren! Set up a shield bubble around us quick!" shouted Nyoko,
"Yes! Commander!" he complied,
A few minutes after our intrusion into Fairdrift, we were bombarded by the enemies from every side imaginable. Their numbers grew larger over time, and our soldier was slowly getting killed by them. Making our way to the upper district of Fairdrift was like taking a quick tour into hell.
Despite the other group's success in invading the entrance gate, that wasn't a similar case for us. All this time, Nyoko has been making a bad judgments when going against the opponents. Every move that she commanded was predictable. Every step that she made was avertable. What is wrong with her?!-
Back when we were the soldiers of Fearrun, she was a multi-talented person when it came to planning out a fight. Why is she looking so nervous when leading this operation?
"The rest of the soldiers! Charge in at full speed! Fight off the enemy!" Nyoko commanded,
"Idiot! You're making the formation break apart! What the hell do you tryna achieve by getting our soldiers killed?!-" I said to her,
She quickly responded, "Shut up! Don't question my authority!"
The soldiers complied with her and started making their way towards the enemy. That was a huge mistake they've made. They're all scattered around and deranged. The opponents that they going up against are far superior to them in one-to-one combat. If this keeps ongoing, we will be annihilated soon.
I charge in out of anger for Nyoko. I took the lead in battle and tried my best to save any soldiers that we had left,
"Hear my Command! Euphoria!"
I buffed up my comrades around me with strengthening skills from my Karma and quickly shouted to them, "Everyone back to defensive position! Take them one at a time as a team! And get the wounded to the center of formation!"
Nyoko was generally pissed at me and said, "What do you think you're doing?!-"
"Saving these people's ass!" I inflict a sword slash against the enemy and killing them one by one.
"You don't have the right to command my troops!" she replied,
"And you don't have the right mind to command these people to their death!" I shouted at her while kept slaying down the monsters in front of me,
She has a disapproved look written on her face. As soon as I finished clearing out the area, she suddenly attacked me from the back.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" I said to her,
She was filled with rage and responded to me, "Your act is against my authority! I'm the one in charge of this group!- If you have the audacity to take that role away from me, I'll kill you here and right now for the act of felony!-"
"All you've been doing was making a bad decision for our group!- You want me to just sit here and watch all these people die because of your ignorance?!-" I shouted to her angrily,
"I know my way to lead my own troops! I don't need any judgemental opinions from someone who gave up on their fight!-" She replied,
"So you want to bring up the old-time in this situation?! Are you fucking joking?!-" I responded bitterly,
She screamed towards me out of anger and said, "I don't want to hear anything from you!- If you ever question my authority! I will kill you for real!- Soldiers! March our way forward!"
She still holds her grudge and hatred towards me after all this time. I can't let her put this mission in jeopardy due to that attitude.
After about two hours had passed, we received two signals from the north and west part of the entrance. Seems like the other groups have been doing pretty well in securing the area.
"Look at that, boys! My plan has worked out flawlessly!" Nyoko said arrogantly, "The east point of the upper district is just ahead of us! Keep on pushing forward!"
"Yes, Commander!" the soldiers responded,
Once we entered the upper district, everything looked awfully quiet in every direction. Not a single enemy within our line of sight. The place seemed abandoned for some reason. Nyoko demanded what was left from our troops to spread out and looked for the whereabouts of our enemy.
We searched tirelessly all over the place but couldn't find any clue where they went to. We then headed to the north part of the upper district, and still, the result was the same.
"Why can't we find Uglin?! We haven't got any news from Cicily's group either! The intel said the General should be here!" Nyoko said to us while walking around nervously,
Our soldier looked tired after the long search; I then said to Nyoko, "We should let the men rest for a moment. We're drained, and some of us are wounded,"
She shouted at me, "I know! You don't have to state the obvious to me!"
My patience finally crumbled with her attitude. I suddenly yelled at her, "What the hell is wrong with you! Ever since this morning- you have been nothing but a fucking asshole to me! What's your issue?!"
"I have no issue with you!-" She responded,
I quickly cut through her words and said, "Nonsense! I can see in your eyes that you hated me! You despise me! You see me nothing but a loser!"
She finally spitted out her true feelings, "Exactly! I hate you for all you've done to me!-"
"If you want to settle the old things, this is the time now! Don't drag these soldiers into your selfish thoughts!" I responded to her,
When she was about to open her mouth, something unexpected happened. Darren called out to us and said, "Look!" as he pointed his finger up.
The sky that was once filled with green signals from the succeeded party changed in color. One by one turned into red. Something doesn't feel right. Eventually, every side of the entrance was beaming a red signal.
A sudden roar burst throughout the city. It sounded like a beast that was much larger than the Colossal Worm that we've fought before. The ground trembled by the footsteps that arose from every direction. What the hell is going on right now?
Soon, we were surprised by the appearance of ginormous Titana Cyclops, with its height soaring just below the clouds throughout the city. I finally realized, we were dumbfounded all this time. This was a trap from the beginning. We're not really the one that's hunting; we are being hunted. They let us breach the city just so that they can trap us all in here!
The gigantic Cyclops began swaying their legs onto the buildings in the city. The destruction that they made was unimaginable. From the sound of swords clashing into our ears not long ago changed into the scream of horror by our comrades.
"ALL MEN SEEK FOR COVER!" I shouted to them when one of the Cyclops rushing towards us,
