Chapter 97 - Chapter 97 - The Raid

The streets of Graywake were silent at night, always silent. The only sound that could be heard in one of the richest cities in Larra was from the many manors and mansions that help regular parties and gathering for the rich and wealthy. Carriages lined the streets nearby these manor our within the ground and gold, jewels, and riches aplenty were shown off casually.

Zombieman leaned back and took a pull from his cigarette. These nobles were celebrating the end of the war and the peace and prosperity the new king was bringing, or that was what they told themselves, but in reality, they were simply doing as they'd always done.

He would have been angrier but he knew what his king had in store for them, and he had other things to focus on tonight.

All over Larra, the criminals infested cities, towns, and even the larger villages, causing problems and distributing the growth his king was trying to bring about. The wilds were almost cleared, which wasn't a surprise, the beasts would have a field them roaming about, clearing the filth from the forest and plains, but Zombieman preferred a more human type of work.

"Five minutes to go," A rider said from beside him.

He looked over at her and nodded, making sure the other dozen riders caught it as well. He was part of one of many groups scattered around the city, waiting for the signal. When they'd first been given these tasks they'd come up with many ideas, but he'd been the one to suggest a kingdom-wide raid. There had been some back and forth, but eventually, they'd agreed and spent the first few days gathering information from all over and finding the bases, hideouts, and headquarters all across Larra and then setting up a raid to get rid of them.

Similar to him, Leone, Blair, and Domino were all in other cities about to do the same thing as him, and if all went well, then overnight, most of the major criminal element of Larra, would be wiped out.

"Sir, one minute to go," The rider beside him said.

"Get ready," He replied, summoning his machetes. When he'd first been summoned he was little better than a human with extreme regeneration, but the levels had increased his power and now he held superhuman strength and agility as well, not to mention the fact that his reflexes had gotten a major boost along with his senses. He was far more confident in his ability to fight now than he'd ever been, although his strength wasn't at the level of someone like Leone or any of the others.

"Sir, it's time."

He nodded and glanced over at the riders beside him. "Remember if you have to, then kill them, but, if you can, knock them out so we can take them in."

They all nodded, and a second later they all burst through the roof of the warehouses, weapons ready.

The men that were scattered across the warehouses didn't even have time to really react before over dozen trained talon riders and one super zombie were upon them. Some tried to fight back, but after only a few minutes the entire room had been subjugated, with only a single dead.

All across Larra, similar scenes were taking place as groups of talon riders alongside summons were breaking into criminal bases and taking them down. There was a pushback fo course, but no warning could really be sent out as it was happening everywhere at the same time. They tried to fight back, but the power of the royal investigators and talon riders was far greater than theirs as at the end of the day, they were just criminals while the talon riders were elite soldiers who were fanatically loyal to the king, and alongside the royal investigators who were just as deadly, the criminals of Larra didn't stand a chance.

By the time the sun had risen the next day, almost all of the criminal element of Larra was gone, dead, captured, and on their way to the capital, and while most assumed imprisonment or death awaited them, if they'd know what or who awaited them in the palace dungeons then they would've asked for death rather than accept being captured.

"Sir, it's all done," A talon rider said.

Zombieman nodded, looking over the prison caravans and boxes that would be used to move the prisoners to the capital. Everything had been a success and he'd received a message shortly after, informing him that their king has called them all back to the capital.

"Get going then," Zombieman replied, heading over to the Talon rider he'd be flying with. He wasn't really a fan of it, but it was the quickest way of travel he currently had access to, and he wanted to back at the same time as the others. He didn't want to be the one holding everyone up.

With a flap of its wings, the silver hawk took off into the sky and a few minutes later the city of Graywake was nothing but a distant sight. A city were criminals had hidden and ruled, now empty and clean of crime, unbeknownst to the people of Graywake.
