Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 - Darkness fall and Blood Splatter

Darkness filled the hall and I didn't hesitate to summon everyone but Rathlaos and Kuriboh. I felt the presence of all my summons and felt a weight lifted off my chest even as I tensed. The darkness that had fallen over the room wasn't normal. It was inky and I couldn't hear a damn thing.

I waved a hand in front of me and frowned when the darkness swirled like inky water.

"Boss?"

The voice was extremely faint and it took me a few seconds to realize it was leone calling me. I glanced at the shapes around me and realized that despite them being so close, I couldn't see any discernable feature on any of them. One of them, which had the body shape of Leone, was turned towards me and I opened my mouth to speak but the words that came out sounded just as faint as Leones.

What the fuck, I thought.

Just as I was about to send a mental command to one of my summons, the darkness vanished, and a wave of noise hit me as I blinked in surprise. Everything looked the same at first then I move my gaze to the door and had to swallow.

Adarra stood over the corpses of her brothers and had their advisors on their knees in front of her. Her hand was covered n blood and I noticed that all her guards were behind her, alongside Gisela, Leubast, and Allard, and Aldith.

"What's your call, boss?" Leone asked and I glanced over at her. She had a hard look in her eyes and was tensed, ready to activate her teigu, just like all my other summons. Zombiman had both his hand cannons out and Domino was packing double smg's. Gible looked eager and Lilah was as still as death, primed and ready for slaughter.

"Ah, Nathan," said Adarra noticing me and my group. "Good to see you didn't panic like my foolish brothers, but I'm afraid it won't help you. Neither will those pets of yours."

"We aren't pets," growled Leone.

Adarra gave her a mocking smile then turned her attention back to me. "Nathan I think it's time you give in. There is no use in fighting, and I'm afraid I find you far too interesting to simply allow you to leave. My mages may not have been able to pierce your mind but your scent betrayed you the moment we met. Quite the valuable talent, don't you think."

I opened my mouth to respond but stopped when I realized I had notifications.

[Congratulations: Quest Completed: War of Three: Head to the capital and take part in the gathering of the three heirs]

[Reward: 2 Summoning Tokens, 1 Situation Token]

[Reward: Summoning Ability(Attack Force)]

I quickly checked the description of Attack Force and hoped it was something good. With the current situation, it was clear a fight was about to go down and in all honesty, I was sick and tired of simply standing by and watching. Yes, I was a king, but the greatest of kings fought alongside their people.

[Attack Force: Gain the Abilities and Strength of a single summon of your choosing. The chosen summon must be in storage for the skill to work. This skill will not work on a summon that is out of commission/resting in storage and will physically alter your body when necessary]

I grinned and turned my gaze back to Adarra. "I'm afraid not, Adarra. I am leaving, but clearly not without a fight."

She shook her head and I noticed Allard grin behind her, his face full of clear bloodlust and eager anticipation. Yeah right prick, I thought, as if your gonna kill me.

"Such a shame," Adarra said, shaking her head. Then her eyes went cold and the mask that she'd been wearing up until this point fell away completely and her true colors were revealed. A cold, merciless, and manipulative woman. "Bring me, Nathan, kill the rest."

"Transformation! Lionel!" Shouted Leone in savage warcry, and as if that had been a signal everything went to shit.

I focused and sent zombieman to storage even as I activated attack force and took on his abilities. I felt a shift in my body and suddenly felt lighter and stronger. It was clear I'd gotten everything from him even the boost in physical traits which while not as useful as his regeneration or weapons was still handy, especially since I wasn't exactly a bodybuilder.

Leone charged at the guards as they closed the distance, followed by Lilah who unsheathed her blade in a quick motion and intercepted Aldith who had been aiming directly for me. Neena's guns were already blazing and dozens fell as she gracefully dodged bolts of magic and arrows fired from archers which had entered the room.

This was clearly planned, I thought, this is what she must have meant yesterday.

It was chaos everywhere, but I didn't focus on my summons for long as a blur shot forward and as though a truck had hit me I was sent flying back into a wall, a hand gripping my throat.

I looked down and met Adarra's gaze.

"So easy, so weak," She sang, a cold smile on her face.

I couldn't help it, I laughed. "You're truly are a fool, and so was I to ever put myself in your power. Goodbye Adarra."

I noticed it then, the widening of her eyes and the moment she realized her mistake, the twitch and glow of silver energy that spread around her body. Too late, I thought, too late.

The click of the desert eagle in my hand was loud, and I gave Adarra a smile full of pity and mocking as I pulled the trigger and blew her brains out, splattering the floor behind her. Almost comically she stood still for a few seconds before she toppled backwards, dead.

I felt triumph, but also empty. This hadn't been much of a fight, even if I hadn't been able to kill her now, with my regeneration and my summons we would have won, which made the fact that I'd been so docile at our first meeting even worse.

"No!"

I looked up to see Allard staring in shock at Adarra's headless corpse. He moved his gaze to me and the pure unadulterated fury was evident in his eyes.

"You bastard!"

He charged forward his blade set to pierce my chest. I didn't move or flinch. Halfway to me, a yellow blur intercepted him, sending him to the ground, screaming in pain as Leone tore his throat out. He had always struck me as an idiot and that just proved it.

I turned to see how things were going with the rest and smiled as I spotted Gible tearing through soldiers as they feebly tried to hit him, but he was far too quick and with dig. Well, it looked like a game of wack a mole, but more brutal, because every time Gible appeared he used metal claw to break or tear someone apart. He jumped out of one of the holes and I let out-breath as he cleanly severed a spine. Godamn that's brutal, I thought, don't fuck with pokemon.

Domino was having even less difficulty with her enemies. They couldn't touch her, and her guns were highly effective, tearing through guard after guard, splattering and spraying the walls with blood and viscera. It was sort of pitiful, watching the guards fall like... well dominos.

However, Lilah was probably the bloodiest. She was like an angel of carnage and death given form. She made no sounds and moved in sharp and precise motions, each clean and perfect, just like in the game she was from. Two guards tried to flank her, but her hand shot out and latched onto one of their faces and began to glow a whitish-green, The man let out a bone-chilling scream as his soul was forcibly pulled from his body. While this was happening, Lilah was easily deflecting all blows from the second guard and the moment she let go of the now pale and soulless guard she tore the other in two with a single swipe.

Wait a second? where was Aldith? I looked around and winced when I spotted her corpse. She had been gutted like a pig and her guts were spilled all around her.

"I always knew you were trouble, I told her so, aye she should've listened to me," said a voice to my left and I turned to see Gisela charging at me with a sword.

I cursed and hastily raised the pistol to fire but was too late and let out a scream as the Amazon-like woman shoved her blade into my chest bypassing defense force. The pain was tremendous but even as my body burned in agony I summoned zombiemans axe and brought it down atop her head. The priceless look of shock and confusion was the last thing on her face before it was torn in half by the axe that pierced her skull and cleaved all the way down to her torso. She fell to the floor and blood poured from her body, but I didn't care.

"Aaaaaah," I let out a scream, as I pulled the blade from my body, which was replaced with a sigh of relief as the wound healed in seconds. Thank goodness for attack force. Without it, this would be a lot harder.

"Boss!"

Leone rushed to my side and immediately began checking me over. Her face was panicked and furious.

"I'm fine Leone I got a new skill," I said soothingly, patting her on the shoulder. "Is everyone down?"

She nodded and some of the panic fell away, but I could tell she was still pissed, which was understandable. I was just as pissed, but I needed to keep my emotions in check.

"All down," said Domino as she made her way over, unsummoning her guns as she did. "The flying one was a bitch to deal with but he wasn't fast enough to dodge bullets. All that's left is the advisors."

The advisors? Oh, yah Adarra hadn't killed them. I got to my feet and looked at the notification that had appeared during the fight.

[Congratulations! You have Leveled up! You are now Level 5]

[Reward: Summoning Token]

[Congratulations! Lilah has Leveled up! Lilah is now Level 3]

[Congratulations! Leone has Leveled up! Leone is now Level 3]

[Congratulations! Gible has Leveled up! Gible is now Level 3]

[Congratulations! Domino has Leveled up! Domino is now Level 3]

I smiled. Now I had 4 common tokens and 1 situation token. A fortune to me. four new potential summons just waiting to be revealed, but first the advisors.

I moved my gaze across the room and had to let out a whistle. You know in some movies when someone says let paint the room red with blood? Well, that was exactly what had happened but even worse. The room was splattered in blood, viscera, and unfortunately, shit, and piss, which wasn't unsurprising. The body could do that sometimes after death.

"Holy fuck," I muttered as my gaze landed on the advisors, who were looked at me and my summons in shock, fear, and awe?

When they noticed my eyes on them as one they fell to their knees and pressed their foreheads to the floor.

"What the-"

"We live to serve, your majesty," one of the older advisors said in a shaky voice, interrupting me.

I stared at that for a long moment before I responded.

"Well, fuck"
