Chapter 18 - Eighteen

The food was already set. His workers were happy to have him back and safe after a long demise. Although it was just two days.

Detective Rod sat on the chair as they brought him a tray of food. Moses, meanwhile had been helpless. Ever since he saw the news that his wife was found but were being huddled by assassins, he hadn't been able to think straight. However, Detective Rod assured him that his men had encircled the area, in such a way that no one comes or leaves. And they would alert them if they found anything.

"Take your time and eat, we'll find her soon"

"I'm not hungry" Moses replied.

"You haven't eaten since day before yesterday, and you must eat now" . After series of bouts and arguments, Moses yielded and began to eat. And in doing so, he began to devour his food. Within minutes, he finished the heap of food placed before him.

"Hungrier than I thought" he muttered. Detective Rod smiled when he said this. He brought out his tablet.

"Investigation time" . Moses sunk on the chair in despair. He hated this long boring question and answer series.

"I promise, it will be over" he said trying to sooth him. Moses looked at him for a while and nodded his head in approval. He returned the gesture while putting on his tablet.

"Now the obvious question, how did you escape that hospital?" . Moses chuckled despite his worry as he wasn't expecting that question.

"You were cuffed both hands, legs and waist to the ground. This metal wasn't the type to be easily broken even if someone tries to help you. And CCTV reveals that you ran away, an hour before the mass assassination and blood shed"

"Which mass assassination? " Moses asked confused at this instant. Detective Rod handed him his tablet. It was the CCTV footage of how assassins were fighting each other in his ward. He flinched in horror when he saw how different parts of parts of human bodies flew in all directions at an incredible rate.

"I can't watch this" he said handing the tablet back to Detective Rod.

"Now tell me, how did you get out of there" . Moses began to think. He tried to describe the old man.

"A swordsman released me". Immediately he said this, Detective Rod fell into a deep laughter.

"Enough of the joke Moses, I'm serious this time around"

"I'm serious, okay, let's put it this way, a man with a sword broke me off the chains. " he replied.

"With what?"

"His sword of course" Moses said. Detective Rod stared at him and laughed again.

"Moses, I'll set one day aside for you to humor me, how can a sword break what a high-tech laser can't?" At this, Moses twisted his face in surprise.

"Do you know how dumb that sounds?" he asked facing Detective Rod.

"That's what you're telling me" he replied. Before he could talk, gunshots was heard from all angles. Troops of assassins stormed inside the living room before anyone could react.

"Moses, stay still" Elba said as he walked towards him. He was dressed in an assassin's uniform.

"I can deliver your wife to you right now, only if you comply" He walked round the round him, feeling he had all the power in the world.

"What are you waiting for?!!" he shouted.

"Actually, you're the one delaying the due process" . His anger rose again. This time like a hot furnace. Four assassins held him firmly before he could act bizarre.

"To get your wife, you have to sign these papers." Some assassins put a clean sheet of paper on the table together with a bic pen.

"Sign this" Elba said tapping the paper. Moses looked at the paper and took a deep breath in defeat.

"Please, you know very much I can't sign this" he said pushing the paper towards him.

"It's just like saying, you don't want to see your long missed wife" Elba said. Moses heaved a sigh. Detective Rod glanced at the paper confused at this instant. He didn't know what was going on between the two.

"Well, you can keep it. I'll come in the evening to check up on you. " He brought out a flash drive and kept it on the table.

"Your wife said I should tell you hi". The assassins led the way as he walked out of the house.
