The blue purgatory flame created a barrier between Holak's left fist and the purple mist, while his lightweight shield, which had survived the Shadow Strike, wasn't something that an epic-tier weapon could easily pierce. The result was a Swoosh! as the First Marshal was sent flying backward again, trying to regain his balance.
