"Himawari (Sunflower)"
"Naruto, can you look after Boruto for a while? I'll just prepare our dinner?" Hinata asked her husband.
"Sure leave him to me." Naruto moved closer to the young boy who was playing with his toys.
Naruto sat down beside him and watched him play. Boruto stopped playing upon noticing his dad sitting beside him. He looked up and saw his dad grinning at him.
"Boruto..." Naruto muttered and tickled him. Boruto burst out laughing and suddenly gone lying on the floor while his dad kept on tickling him.
"Dad, stop!" he begged. His cute voice wanted him to tease him even more. Boruto was still so young. Naruto stopped from tickling Boruto and let him sat on his lap.
"Boruto, I'll be off to work tomorrow with uncle Sai. Don't be silly, okay?"Naruto told him.
"I am looking forward to playing with you tomorrow, but..." he said while pouting.
"I will play with you when I'm back. Take care of mom until I get back, understood?" he told his cute son. Boruto nodded and gave his dad his sweetest smile. Naruto tapped his head.
"We can play right now though," Naruto said and Boruto's face lightened.
"Really?" he wanted to confirm it. Naruto nodded.
Boruto gathered all his scattered toys and brought them closer to Naruto and they played together.
"Dinner is ready!" Hinata yelled from the dining room.
"Come on Boruto. Mom will be mad if we don't come right away." Naruto said and carried Boruto on his back.
"Alright dad, make me fly!" Boruto shouted then chuckled. He looked so innocent.
"Alright, hold on tight," Naruto said and rushed towards the dining table where Hinata was waiting for them.
They enjoyed their meal together. Hinata and Naruto were laughing at Boruto's silly actions.
"I'm going now Boruto. Don't forget what I told you last night, okay?" Naruto reminded him and he nodded as an answer. He waved goodbye to his dad and saw him off.
He looked up to his mom and spoke.
"Is dad going to be fine?" Boruto was waiting for Hinata's answer.
"Of course, dad is so strong." She answered and smiled at him.
Boruto stared at her for seconds and then painted a serious look on his face. Hinata got confused.
"I want to be as strong as him when I grow up." He declared. Hinata was surprised. She could not believe Boruto would say those at his young age, but she could not help herself but smile.
"Dad will be very proud if you will become someone as strong as him," Hinata said staring at her son.
"You are still a kid and all you can do for now is play and help mom in doing the chores," Hinata said. Boruto responded by nodding his head.
"Boruto we are going to the supermarket. I want dad to have his favorite dish when he gets back." Hinata said. Boruto agreed while he was putting his toys inside the box.
Hinata prepared his clothes. She grabbed the basket as soon as they were ready to go off. They were walking in the village's streets. Boruto was amazed by what he was seeing. He was gazing at the stores they passed by. He always got his innocent look. They stopped at the sweets store. Hinata bought him a lollipop.
"Hmmm... thank you, mom." He said and licked on it. Hinata was amused by her son's reaction.
Soon they had finally arrived at the market. Hinata was grabbing stuff from the shelves. There were cans and vegetables she was putting inside the basket. Boruto was just watching his mom. Upon finishing her task, they left the market.
"Wait a minute, let's buy some bread." She said and they stopped at the nearest bakeshop.
"Hinata?!" A woman's voice called out for her. She turned her back to her.
"And if I'm not mistaken, this is Boruto." She added.
"Sakura," Hinata muttered.
"You went shopping?" Sakura asked.
"Yes, I bring Boruto with me because nobody will look after him at home," Hinata answered.
"I see. Is Naruto on a mission?" She asked. "Yes," Hinata replied with a nod.
Sakura bent down to see Boruto.
"Hey Boruto, how are you?" she asked him. Boruto did not answer instead he hides behind his mom. He seemed to be shy in front of Sakura. Sakura just tapped his head and smiled at him. She stood up and faced Hinata.
"Are you here for bread too?" Hinata asked.
"Yes. I will bring Sarada some too. She likes the bread here." Sakura answered. Hinata nodded as if to say 'I see'.
They had small talks before they waved goodbye at each other. Hinata and Boruto walked their way home.
Hinata was cleaning the house while Boruto was in his room when someone suddenly knocked on the door. She rushed towards the doorway and immediately opened the door to know who had have come to see them.
"Yo!"
"Kiba! Shino!" she was so surprised seeing her former teammates. Akamaru barked as if he was extending his greetings to her.
"Akamaru." She muttered and tapped his head.
"Please come in." She invited them inside.
The two including Akamaru entered the house.
"Have a seat. I'll get you a tea."Hinata said and immediately went to the kitchen. The two settled down and Akamaru sat down on the floor.
After few minutes Hinata came back carrying a tray of cups and a tea kettle. She puts it on the table and quickly served them a hot tea.
"I'm so glad that you visit us here," Hinata said as she settled down.
"We passed by your house and we decided to stop for a while," Kiba explained.
"Where's Naruto?" Shino asked in his usual emotionless expression.
"He got a mission with Sai," Hinata replied and the two nodded as a response.
"Where's Boruto by the way?" Kiba asked. He had noticed his absence.
"He is in his room." Hinata quickly replied. They were having a conversation when they were suddenly interrupted.
"Mom, my toy got destroyed," Boruto yelled while he was rushing downstairs. He stopped when he noticed the presence of the two men.
"Yo, Boruto!" Kiba greeted him. He slowly walked towards his mom.
"Boruto, your Uncle Kiba, and Uncle Shino are here for a visit. Give them your greetings." Hinata said in her usual soft voice. Boruto just smiled at them.
"By the way, we got something for you," Kiba said and grabbed something from his pocket.
It was revealed to be a box tied with a red ribbon. Boruto accepted it.
"Come on open it. It's a gift from us." Kiba said. Boruto opened the box as Kiba wished.
It was a shuriken necklace.
"Wow!" Boruto muttered.
"It looks beautiful," Hinata commented.
"Thank you," Boruto told him. Both Shino and Kiba smiled.
"We want you to be a splendid shinobi like your dad," Kiba said.
"So when the right time comes, I am expecting to see you at the academy," Shino added. Boruto stared at them for seconds then turned his gaze at the necklace.
Kiba was currently a police officer while Shino became the Academy Instructor as Iruka's successor since Iruka was promoted as the Academy's Principal. After the war, they had come to have self-realizations as what the peace had brought them. What they would have become after the team disbanded and that was it. They chose what would fit them.
"Hinata! Boruto! I'm home." Naruto greeted. Boruto rushed towards the doorway when he heard his dad's voice.
"Dad!" he yelled and hugged him tightly.
"Welcome home, dear," Hinata muttered behind Boruto. Naruto smiled at her.
"Daddy, let's play," Boruto said.
"Okay!" Naruto enthusiastically answered and gave his son a thumb up.
"Hey, let's have some lunch first before you play and Boruto, daddy must be tired." Hinata interrupted.
"It's fine Hinata, but let's have our meal first," Naruto said and Boruto nodded.
Hinata prepared the table. Everything was set, the three of them settled down on the low table and said,' Thanks for the food' simultaneously. They munched on the food cooked by Hinata. The two seemed to be enjoying the meal and Hinata was so happy seeing his boys together again.
"Tomorrow is my off. Why not we go see your grandpa?" Naruto suggested.
"It's a good idea. Father and Hanabi would love to see you, Boruto." Hinata agreed. Boruto nodded and smiled at his parents.
"Are we going to do a picnic there?" Boruto asked his mom.
"Most likely, but..." Hinata answered.
"But your grandpa is not a fan of picnics," Naruto said and rubbed his nose. Hinata chuckled.
The three walked towards the Hyuga Clan. Hinata was carrying a basket on her arm while Naruto was in charge of Boruto.
"Hinata, Naruto and..." the old woman blurted upon seeing them, but she looked closely at Boruto. Boruto looked away.
"Is father around?" Hinata asked.
"Yes, he is at the training grounds." The woman replied.
"Training grounds?" Naruto and Hinata muttered.
They headed towards the training grounds and soon they had seen Hanabi sparring with some Hyuga guys and Hiashi was sitting on the floor watching his youngest daughter.
"Father..." Hinata murmured.
Hiashi turned his back at the voice and faced Hinata and a smiling Boruto. His eyes widened upon seeing his grandson. Boruto was quite intimidated and he hid behind his mom.
"Is that you, Boruto?" he confusedly asked.
He rushed towards the young boy upon confirming it was his cute little grandchild. He hugged him tightly, Boruto was all shocked and a bit annoyed.
"My cute little boy..." Hiashi muttered. Naruto and Hinata just let a wry smile.
Hanabi paused upon hearing some noise from her father's direction.
"Big sister, big brother," Hanabi yelled. She left her sparring mates and ran towards them.
"Boruto, my cute little nephew," Hanabi said and hugged him too. Both she and her father were hugging Boruto and that made him even more annoyed, but he was trying to compose himself.
"I'm so glad that you came to pay a visit," Hanabi stated while all of them settled on the floor and each of them was holding a cup of tea except Boruto.
"We got some free time," Naruto responded.
"You look so busy training, Hanabi," Naruto commented.
"I got bored so I asked them to spar with me." Hanabi casually replied. Naruto and Hinata looked at her.
"You be preparing as the next clan head," Naruto added.
"Hanabi must be well-prepared before the right time comes," Hiashi spoke joining the conversation.
"Umm..." Naruto murmured while nodding his head in agreement.
"Why don't we start training, Boruto?" Hanabi suggested.
"That's a good idea." Hiashi agreed. Naruto and Hinata looked at each other.
"Hey, do you train Boruto at home?" Hanabi asked. Naruto and Hinata shook their heads.
"I think Boruto is still young for training." Naruto defended.
"It's better to train the kid early so he will develop his skills fast," Hiashi remarked.
Boruto was just listening to the adults.
"You are right about that father, but I doubt Boruto is ready for it now. He doesn't know anything about training and stuff." Hinata was a bit worried.
"Let's try then," Hanabi said.
"Hanabi..." Hinata murmured she was still confused.
"Boruto come with me. I'll teach you the basic combat stance." Hanabi said.
Boruto was in awe, he then remembered what he had said to his mom that he wanted to as strong as his dad and Kiba and Shino were rooting for him too. So he went to the training ground with Hanabi.
Hanabi started teaching him the basics. Naruto, Hinata, and Hiashi were watching them. After an hour of doing the basics, they went back to them.
"Mom, Dad. Training is fun." Boruto cheerfully told his parents while he was gasping.
"Really?" Hinata muttered. He nodded as an answer.
"You look like you really enjoy training. Keep it up." Naruto said while grinning.
"I want you to train me, dad. I want to be as strong as you." Boruto declared. Naruto was astounded by his son's words. He smiled at him. Hiashi and Hanabi saw the determination in his eyes.
They were so happy about Boruto's dream.
A year later...
"Dad, Mom's belly is hurting," Boruto yelled, he was in his mom's bedroom.
"Wait a minute, I'll call the hospital," Naruto yelled back as he was pushing buttons on the telephone.
Hinata was about to give birth to her second child. Boruto was on his mom's side, he never leaves her side as he was so worried about her condition.
"Hang in there, mom." He told her. Hinata was touching her belly it must be very painful, Boruto thought.
After a while, the emergency vehicle arrived and rushed Hinata to the hospital. Hinata was sent straight to the delivery room. The two boys remained outside and were waiting for the result.
After an hour, the doctor came out. He talked to Naruto and soon they were allowed to see Hinata and baby. Hinata was carrying the baby in her arms. Boruto ran towards her and Naruto followed him.
"She is so cute," Boruto commented. His eyes twinkled. Naruto stared at the sleeping baby girl. Grains of tears were forming in the corners of his eyes. Hinata smiled at both of them.
"Mom, what do you want to name her?" Boruto asked in his innocent voice.
Hinata stared at Naruto as if she wanted him to decide.
"She is our little sunshine. Himawari, you light up our lives." Naruto said and kissed the baby's hand.
"Himawari..." Boruto repeated. His blue eyes shined and then painted a smile on his lips.
Two years later...
"Where are you going, daddy?" Himawari asked her dad while he was wearing his ninja shoes.
"I have a mission together with your uncle Shikamaru," Naruto replied. Himawari's face saddened. Naruto stared at her.
"Look, I'll be back after three days."Naruto rest assured his daughter and tapped her head.
"You take, okay?" Himawari said. Naruto nodded. Boruto and Hinata were standing behind her.
"Boruto, take care of Hima and mom okay?" Naruto reminded him.
"Leave it to me," Boruto said and gave his dad a fist bump. Naruto waved goodbye to them.
"Don't worry about dad, Hima. He will be fine he is super strong." Boruto said. Himawari nodded and smiled.
"Why don't you play inside?" Hinata suggested. They looked at each other.
"What about visiting grandpa and aunt Hanabi?" Boruto suggested.
Himawari's face lightened and she then gave them a big smile.
"Let's go to grandpa." Hima blurted in her cute voice. Boruto and Hinata smiled at her reaction.
"Boruto, Himawari, my dearest grandchildren," Hiashi said with tears flowing on his cheeks (comedy). He hugged them. Hanabi arrived and greeted them. Hinata was stuck behind giving them an awkward smile.
"Boruto, let's train again," Hanabi said. Boruto nodded.
"Let's spar for a while, leave Hima to father." She added.
They sparred in front of them. Himawari was watching them. Hanabi went easy with Boruto.
"Aunt Hanabi, don't be so hard on big brother," Himawari said with a sad face.
"Don't worry Hima, I'll be gentle on him," Hanabi replied, but went seriously against Boruto.
"Aunt Hanabi, that was too much. Wait!" Boruto complained. Instead of fighting back, Boruto ran away from Hanabi. Hinata and Hiashi laughed at him.
"Hanabi was serious as always," Hinata remarked.
'Two days later...
"Hinata, where are you up to with the kids?" Temari asked along the way. They bumped at each other. Hinata brought Hima and Boruto with her.
"Boruto!" a kid who was with Temari called out to Boruto. He had his hair tied up like a pineapple, he also had teal eyes and Temari's facials.
"Shikadai!" Boruto yelled back and rushed towards his friend. Temari smiled and Hinata smiled back.
"They sure get along together," Hinata commented.
"They got their dads' friendship as well," Temari replied.
The two boys were telling stories while Temari was talking to Hinata and Himawari.
"Don't you tell me are going to the village's gates too?" Hinata asked.
"We will be welcoming Shikamaru home," Temari replied.
"I see we are heading the same way then," Hinata said.
"Oh..." muttered and they both laughed.
They walked towards the gates and waited for Shikamaru and Naruto.
"Dad!" Himawari yelled while pointing at the men's approaching. The two boys rushed towards them and Himawari followed.
"Be careful," Hinata told Himawari who was rushing to her dad already. They hugged them tight upon reaching their dads' arms. Naruto and Shikamaru were so happy seeing their children after being away for a while. They could not help themselves from smiling.
