"Ate nice?" Jacob called out softly to his sister, who was sitting alone on the windowsill.
"Stay in bed, cob." Janice responded while keeping her gaze outside the window.
"Why aren't you sleeping?" he asked as he rubbed his eyes because he was still sleepy.
From their bed, he looked at his sister, who looked beautiful bathed in the light of the moon.
"I just can't sleep."
He looked at his sister worriedly and asked, "Are you still upset because of what happened?" His sister responded by laughing at his question.
"I am not upset. Our mother hated us and treated us badly, but I am not upset at all. I know our mother was like that. We should understand her. " She said it casually, as if she was not bitter about it.
