Chapter 2 - In The Old Days

" Students union, Long Live. Anybody who challenges us will be destroyed. Students union, Long Live"

" Bobby what's this nuisance? " The frustrated principle asks "

There is a protest going on in the University. The Student Protest Movement was initiated by the newly empowered minds of Katoka's youth. The student who initiated the movement was Student Union Leader ' Bobby aka Ishmael ' supporter of the Student Rights Movement. These students mostly middle class believed they were being held down by overbearing University fees. This created an extremely controlled environment and severely impinged on the students rights to free speech. In reaction to such limitations, a college student attempted suicide which gave rise to The Student Protest Movement (SPM) which began at the University of Katoka.

" The government that deprives students of their rights and silences their voices. We condemn it. The University promised us free education but the fees are being continuously hiked. Lab fee, canteen fee, library fee, we pay all these fees. You should work for our benefit and not fill government coffers " says Bobby to the principle.

After some time police arrived and decided to handle the matter politely. The protest was closed and students were asked to focus on their studies. Bobby and his friends were relived after this and went to negotiate with the girl who committed suicide.

" I wish you could fight for your rights as bravely as you tried to commit suicide. " Said Bobby to Anita.

Tagline " Student Union, Long Live " was everywhere in the University. The whole University was echoing with this sound.

Bobby always believed that " We may face tough situations but we shouldn't give up. Sometimes we need to fight for our rights. Comrade Suryam is my grandfather. He not only taught me to live respectfully but he inspired the entire neighborhood. He is my inspiration and then I started raising voice for our rights through Student Union. We would treat the problems of students as our problem. I would raise my voice against injustice and hence I was called comrade "

Bobby deals with severe anger management issues. He's a rebel without a cause, like his grandfather Comrade Suryam. After realizing that Anita attempted suicide on repeated torture from a local politician Bulliah's to reciprocate his love. Bobby's nostrils flared as he stared at Anita. He couldn't believe she could hide such a big matter. Bobby and friends set off on their bikes to deal with Bulliah. Arun cooled down Bobby and asked him to stay there so he could talk and resolve the matter calmly. Bulliah's comments on Anita fuelled the chances of a fight. Bobby stood there, his fists clenched by his sides, and rolled his shoulders back, glaring at Bulliah. 'Care to say that again?'. Bulliah again referred Anita as his mistress and Bobby contorted with rage and a huge physical fight provoked between all of them. This massive fight resulted all of them to land in prison. Bobby and his friends were arrested for a large scale fight.
