She sat down in the chair taking his hand in hers.
Lisa's eyes welled up with tears as she gazed at Canary's peaceful face.
She had never felt such a deep ache in her heart before. Seeing Canary, the strong and vibrant man she loved, lying helpless in a hospital bed was almost too much to bear.
She reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair out of Canary's face, her touch trembling with emotion.
"Why did this have to happen to you?" she whispered, her voice cracking with sorrow.
Lisa felt a wave of despair wash over her. She had always been the strong one, the one who held everything together.
But now, seeing Canary like this, she felt her strength crumbling.
She took a deep breath and tried to compose herself, but it was no use.
The tears began to flow, and Lisa sobbed uncontrollably, her heart breaking for the man she loved.
A gentle voice interrupted Lisa's sobbing. "Ma'am, I think you might need to take a break. Would you like me to get you a glass of water or something?"
Lisa looked up to see a kind-faced nurse standing over her, a concerned expression on her face. Lisa nodded, feeling a little embarrassed about her outburst.
The nurse handed Lisa a box of tissues and a glass of water. "Here, take a few deep breaths and try to calm down. Your friend is going to be okay."
Lisa took a few sips of the water and tried to compose herself. She looked over at Canary, who was still sleeping peacefully.
"What's his condition?" Lisa asked the nurse, her voice shaking slightly.
The nurse smiled reassuringly. "He's stable, but he's going to need some time to recover. The doctor will be in to see him soon, and we'll know more then."
Lisa nodded, feeling a small sense of relief. At least Canary was going to be okay.
