And she was grateful to have Canary by her side.
As the conference came to a close, Canary and Lisa were joined by two men who were Canary's friends and business partners. They introduced themselves as Marcus and Ryan, and Lisa could immediately sense the camaraderie between them.
"Who's this?" Marcus asked, nodding towards Lisa.
"This is Lisa," Canary replied. "She's a colleague of mine."
Ryan's eyes lit up with interest. "Ah, nice to meet you, Lisa. What brings you to the conference?"
Lisa smiled, feeling a bit shy but also curious. "I'm just here to learn," she said. "I'm interested in the industry."
Marcus and Ryan exchanged a glance, and Lisa could sense their curiosity. "Well, we're happy to have you along," Marcus said. "Maybe we can show you around the city a bit."
Lisa first looked at Canary to make sure he wasn't angry about this but Canary showed no reaction.
" Yeah, Sure.." Lisa agreed.
" So, How about we have a drink for now ?" Marcus asked Lisa.
Canary, who had been quietly observing the exchange, suddenly spoke up.
"I don't think that's a good idea," he said, his voice firm but polite.
Marcus and Ryan looked at him in surprise. "Why not?" Marcus asked.
Canary hesitated for a moment before responding. "I just think it would be better if we all went together," he said.
Lisa raised an eyebrow, sensing a hint of jealousy in Canary's tone. "It's okay, Canary," she said. "I can handle myself."
But Canary was insistent. "No, really, it's better if we all go together," he repeated.
Marcus and Ryan exchanged a glance, and Lisa could sense their confusion. "Okay, sure," Marcus said finally. "We'll all go together then."
As they left the conference center, Lisa couldn't help but feel a bit amused by Canary's behavior.
She had never seen him act this way before, and she wasn't sure what to make of it.
"Hey, Canary, what's going on?" she asked him as they walked.
Canary hesitated for a moment before responding. "I just don't want anything to happen to you, that's all," he said.
Lisa smiled, feeling a bit touched by his concern. "I appreciate that, Canary," she said. "But I can take care of myself, really."
" I know. But you don't know these men." Canary warned.
