Chapter 7 - Steering wheel

I am a driver of my own vehicle.

And I am driving in an endless dark road which seems to stretch out into the nothingness.

I'm lost and the gas meter is barely full.

But, I continued.

I continued driving for miles and miles, alone with nothing but the silence.

Once or twice, I saw shadows on the streets and then I realized the night seems unending. It scares me and I'm losing hope.

I started thinking about my family, the people that I'd left behind if ever I didn't get out of this road.

I continued.

I drove.

Eventually the gas ran out and I'm in the middle of nowhere. Alone, hopeless, tired.

I left my vehicle in the middle of the road, grabbed my gun and pointed it on my head.

I pulled the trigger 1..2..3 then I heard the sound of the gunshot echo through the dark, No. I didn't shot myself, I fired at the sky, In just a few seconds the bullet would fall somewhere.

The gunshot was a temporary comfort in the deafening silence. It's still dark but my resolve is unwavering. I stood up from the place that I fell.

I walked.

It's tiring

I felt the soreness in my legs

My feet are starting to cramp

but, I continued

I was starving

I was lonely

I had no one

but, I continued

The shadows started accompanying me.

I was scared

The whispers in my head started

They are telling me to just end it.

I ignored them

and continued

Albeit, the fact that I may never escape.

I choose to die trying than to die hopeless.

I kept walking then eventually I saw the sun.

I'm saved.
