Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"I'm so happy you've picked this fine establishment as the place where you are planning to reside, Mrs. Hawkins," the man spoke, stroking his long beard.

Janine takes the pen out of the man's chubby fingers. A small smile plasters her lips as she signs her signature.

"Thank you for doing business with us." "I hope you and your husband enjoy your new home," the man says proudly again.

Janine fakes a chuckle. "It's just Ms. I'm single," Janine says, getting annoyed, and it wasn't the man. It's just the thought of him calling out a husband that brought her back to some dark times.

'Nah, don't start this thinking shit, Janine.'

"Oh really? Wow, a pretty little thing buying a multi-millionaire home?"

" How did you ever manage to afford this?"

Janine could feel herself getting irritated. This man was one of those types of men. You know the ones that figured a woman couldn't do much unless they had a man on their shoulder. Those types of men could go to hell for all she cared.

"I just worked my ass of," Janine said as the man just laughed.

He thought shit was funny, and Janine was steady losing her patience, "If your finish now then it's best you leave."

The man laughs merely and stands up, walking towards the door as Janine follows. She opens the door, letting him walk before she could get a chance to close the door; it's blocked

"Wait a minute, darling. Since you are single, let me take you out sometime," Janine hear the man ask behind the door.

Now it was Janine's turn to start laughing, and the man looks at her confused. "What are you laughing for?" The man questions. Janine narrows her eyes at him as she tells him, " Hell no, there's nothing a greedy old, pot-belly man like yourself can do for me."

"You, sir, lack morals to even respect a woman." Any woman in their right mind would be a fool even to give you a little bit of attention." And with that said, Janine slams the door.

She releases a sigh as she leans against her door, closing her eyes to recollect her thoughts. Janine smiles, opening her eyes once more to look around her home. The home was beautiful, a three-story house with a glass structure, a beautiful patio, and a built-in swimming pool in the backyard.

She then walks into her kitchen, trying not to knock any boxes that were in her way. "Trifling ass moving companies just come in and place shit anywhere."

" Don't make any damn sense."

"If any of my shit broke, best believe I'm calling them," she says as she makes her way through.

Janine turns on her faucet, trying to make sure her water was on, and to her surprise, the water was running. Back in the hood, she'd have to wait a few days

before her water gets transferred over.

The same with her lights, it seems that wasn't the case in these Suburban homes companies, and the government period was on their shit. Grinding harder to take care of these types of neighborhoods, Janine wasn't surprised though these places gave up the green.

"Damn, water better had been on all the money I put in this place," she says, turning off the water as she walks around towards the boxes that were labeled kitchen. Janine grabs one of the boxes, figuring since she wasn't the slightest bit of tired shed get some of this unpacking shit out of the way.

She rips the tape off the box opening the flaps as she looks inside. Old decorations and some kitchen utensils. Janine grabs the kitchen utensils but leaves the old decorations inside. She was tired of the old pig and chicken display that was used in her old home.

And she would order some other types of decorations, but for now, she just put up her plates and silverware. Maybe a shelf man theme? She didn't know, but she would figure it out. The same goes for her living room,  bedroom, and bathroom. Sadly she also had to stress her brain to think about all her other rooms, but she worried about the ones that she had been dealing with.

After finishing up the rest of the unpackaging, she took the remaining boxes and placed them by her garbage can. She would take them out tomorrow. Right now, she was a drain as she assorted her assortment of wine in the cabinets, only leaving out her Paul Masson. She goes to her fridge that she had stacked with all her groceries only thing she would have to worry about with the kitchen tomorrow is the can goods. She grabs her can of coke and closes the fridge. She would also have to go to the grocery store.

She lets out a frustrated sigh as she was poor herself a drank opening her coke pouring it into the Paul only to mix it.

"So much shit to do," she says after taking a sip of her drink. Janine sighed for the hundredth time that evening and finished her drink. Even though she was happy to be in this home, thinking about all the shit she has to do plagued her mood a bit. But more the less, she still smiled as she walked up the stairs but not before cleaning off her counter because her nerves of getting a stain on the counter scared her.

Luckily she didn't have kids; otherwise, she would have a heart attack. She laughs to herself and walks into her bedroom, turning on her light.  Her bed set was leaning against the walls. Janine didn't feel like setting up her bed, so she places a pallet on the floor using the covers that were in her box set off to the side.

After doing that, she walks over to some bins opening them to reveal some clothes.

She grabs some nightclothes and walks into her bedroom bathroom.

"Oh my fucking god. This is a beautiful bathroom. Wow," Janine says as she looks towards the tub that didn't look like your average tub, more like a hot tub. Janine could cry. This was life, and from now on, she will start living it.

The floor was more comfortable than she thought it would be as she sat up after that relaxing bath; she was just so excited to go to bed and was just too tired to stay up.

  " Look at you Janine."

Bless with this nice ass house, and nice car."  "Only more blessings to come." "As the saying goes it's only up from here." Janine whispers before drifting to sleep.
