Chapter 5 - Enchanting and some magic! 1/2

In a world which is filled with magic and fantasy. Deep underground, in a big cave with a lake in the middle. Not far from the lake on top of a tree, there was a treehouse. In the house, a young man who looked around eighteen years old, was sitting on a chair deep in his thoughts.

It was Noah, who was trying to gather all of his knowledge about enchanting. He started to softly mumble to himself.

"I don't have anything that is mana conductive and the same time I could write with it, something like the blood of an animal."

'Hmm' Noah scratched his head in confusion.

"I could try with my own blood but I get dizzy because of the blood loss."

'Either I could go and hunt down an animal and use it's blood or I could try and brute force it' tought Noah with a visible frown on his face.

He didn't want to go hunting. For hunting you need to be patient and it needs time, even with magic. And Noah now was feeling the opposite of the world patience. Yes, he was really excited with the endless possibilities of enchanting. If anyone would ask him, what is better magic or enchanting. His answer would be enchanting with out the slightest hesitation. Because, Noah thinks combination of enchanting and science is limitless.

"Okay, I can't think of anything so the brute force it is!"

Noah looked down on his hand, with a hint of uncertainty in his eyes. And one last time he recalled the basics about enchanting. 'In theory you need four thing for enchanting. Runes, mana conductive materials, mana and finaly will power. The most important one is the will power. Enchanting in the most basic way is putting your will into something, and this is same with magic. The magic is happening because of your will too, it just, instead of putting your will into an item, you putting it into your environment.'

'So in theory everything should be possible with magic. But there are a lot of things that stopping this. Like your mana reserves and the nature has his own will too. But with enchanting you don't need to supply it with your own mana, it draws mana from its surroundings. You only need to use your own mana to embed your will into the object of your choosing. And science in a way is the will of the nature. So combining magic and science makes evrything way easier. Like you can make steam out of nothing with magic but it's not worth it. It is much easier and cheaper to just summon water and heat it up.'

'So the reason why you need mana conductive materials, because the more mana conductive something the more mana it conducts. Like electricity: if too much current passes through a leaf, it will ignite. But with magic, it doesn't just ignites but has a high chance to blow up. And with the low mana conductive materials, the magic that holds my will has a big chance to dissipate and then enchantment is disprese too.'

'The final piece in the puzzle, is the runes. Because our will determinets the outcome of the enchanment so in theory we don't really need them. But for some reason useing the correct runes amplifes the enchantment. But the most annoying thing about the runes, is that I don't get the theory behind them! Like why random scribles are capable to amplify the enchantments?!'

Noah's head started to hurt from all of the thinking. It was too much information to process, even his enchanted brain started to over heat. He rubbed his forehad whit his hands. Hoping it lessens his headache. He drinks a sip of water from his second favorite cup. His brain started to cool down, because it wasn't normal water it was from the magical lake so it was extremly refreshing.

"Delicious!"

After taking a second refreshing sip from the cup. Noah looked down at the piece of black leather. Starred at it for a while. But after somme time he was immersed in his thoughts again.

'So in summary, I should be able to enchant this piece of leather. The leather should be conductive enough and I think, I have a pretty firm will too. The mana shouldn't be a problem because I have a pretty big mana reserve. The only problem is with the runes. I got the most basic runes from the system but as I said I don't have anything that is magic conductive and I can write with. So the only thing I can do is to brute force it, so I burn the rune into the leather. It weakens the final resoult but it shouldn't make a big difference.'

"Okay! Lets do it!"

Shouted Noah and slapped his cheeks twice. Leaving behind two faint red hand marks on his cheeks.

He held his right hend up and turned his attention towards his fingers. And started to concentrate on his index finger again like the last time when he was trying to make a wind blade with magic. At first nothing happened but after a while the air around his stretched out finger started to change like the last time. But this time it was different, the air around his finger started to distort and his finger started to glow in a bright orange light. In the room where Noah was, the temperature started to slowly rise. And a few drops of sweat started to tickle down on Noah's forehead.

"This is way to much!"

----------

Hello, the author here. I just wanted to apologize about the huge info dump. I didn't want to write this much about magic and enchanting but it just kept comming and comming. So I had to cut the chapter in half. I think the next chapter has less information in it (at least I hope). And at last: I hope you enjoyed the chapter.

Ps.: Sorry about the bad grammar. I wrote this chapter on my computer, so I think the grammar is especially bad without the handy autocorrect on my phone.
