Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Reincarnation Day 3

I have been here for three days now.

Here's an update on my situation:

For one thing, I am much weaker than I thought. Three days ago, three transformations left me on my ass. One bolt of lightning and the electricity in my blood had calmed down.

Besides, my body is not really in good shape. I must not have visualized myself properly as I was crossing the gate, because flying, whether as a bird or a human, is just plain exhausting.

Speaking of flying, secondly...

I have no idea how to do it! All I can do is flap my wings, and even that is exhausting...

Last but not least... I'm butt naked!

I can't believe I had clothes on when I woke up (where did they even came from? Can this whole reincarnation system be really that convenient?) and I destroyed them so stupidly and without realizing it.

Since I haven't met anyone yet, it's not a big deal, and I like this body of mine actually... I may have forgotten to make my body fit, but I didn't forget to correct the flaws I didn't like about myself... what does that say about me?

To pass the time, I think clearly "status", and information is written on the palm of my hand. It's a menu that is visible only to me and disappears when I stop focusing on it. I may already know what I'm gonna see, I just want to look again.

And yes, not only have I been reincarnated into a fantasy world, but also a game-like one! We spent a long time talking about it with Mr. Factory. I was wondering how this world could be so much like a game... Mr Factory thinks that the authors and creators of games on Earth probably had unconscious memories of their past lives in worlds like this one.

Either way, it looked exciting and fun and I was looking forward to being able to learn cool skills and magic. Because, you know. Skills and magic!

But, man, guess what.

When I look at my status... I understand none of it!

Because of course, it's another world here, why did I expect anything else? Why am I even surprised not to find my good old English?

Considering that I had clothes on when I woke up, I think the very least would be to make my status in English, even if only I can understand it! I'm the only one that can see it, after all.

But, alas, the difficulty level just keeps rising here.

But don't laugh just yet. I'm known to be a highly adaptative and dependable person. Just wait and see!

Both to exercise and to find food, I set off on foot in a random direction. I am in a forest with few trees, but no man-made paths. I literally didn't meet anyone after walking slowly for three days. But it's like a natural paradise, there are lots of waterfalls and small rivers. After three days I feel less weak, both as a human and as a thunderbird. But I still can't fly, which is annoying. I've wanted to fly ever since Mr. Factory told me about the shapeshifters. Besides, I could find my way around a lot quicker rather than walking at random like I do now.I simply have no idea how to do it, and I'd rather forget the bruises I've gotten from training so far.

To take off from the branch of a tree? Nobody would have such a stupid idea. The only result one can expect is to fall flat on his face. Of course I would never do such a thing.

It is getting dark. I don't have a problem going on at night, my eyes see very well in the dark. But I am completely exhausted. Yet I didn't walk that far after all. Ironically, I almost regret my bike.

Looking for a place to stop for the night, my eyes fall on a cave entrance. Day or night, even though I'm naked, I've never been cold before, even though I prefer warmth to cold.

I tell myself that I might as well explore at leisure and find a nice place to sleep. I haven't encountered any predators or dangerous animals, only something that tasted like chicken but looked like a cat with rabbit ears and green fur. A surprisingly cute animal, but survival first!

Still, I don't sense any unusual scent in this cave, as if nothing or nobody had been there for a while.

The cave is dark and chilly. A joy for my feet, which suffer more from the lack of shoes than I do from the lack of clothes.

The cave is neither wide nor high, but surprisingly deep. The path is gently sloping and goes straight forward. Finally, after about ten minutes, I reach a door.

It looks heavy and old. There's a blue stone cut into a circular shape, about the size of my hand, but no handle. When I touch it, I feel my mana flowing towards the stone. It's similar to what I felt when I felt the electricity in my blood when I was a thunderbird, but different. It's like a cold current flowing through me and lighting up the stone more and more. I have a kind of intuition, telling me not to worry. I know somehow that it's not dangerous. But the stone takes more and more mana without the door opening. When I decide to let go, finally it lights up completely from the inside and the door opens by itself. This time I am surprised: the path behind the door has nothing to do with the ground I walked on until now, on the contrary, it is a black and elegant pavement, and on the walls there are candleholders. Every ten metres or so there is a door with a wrought iron handle. From a distance I can see that the doors are all the same, only the handles are unique. Even with my good eyesight I can't see the end of the corridor, only more doors. For lack of anything better to do, I walk through the doorstep... my first adventure in a fantasy world?
