Chereads / James The bodyguard / Chapter 2 - 2 ~ Could you cover yourself, please?

Chapter 2 - 2 ~ Could you cover yourself, please?

I get dressed quickly, risking to fall several times: I open the door and run up the stairs.

I am tremendously late!

The lady who welcomed me yesterday came to wake me up early in the morning, telling me that there will be a meeting with all the staff.

And it has already begun, since it's 8:10 am.

I hurriedly climb the stairs, and then go down the long silent corridor, starting in search of room 5S.

There it is!

I sigh and put my hand on the handle, but the door is open, so I don't think twice before

entering, waiting to be picked up by the old woman.

As soon as I enter, however, instead of finding the assembled staff, I find a completely naked man turned around

and with a small towel in his hand, which he rubs into his wet hair.

I blush violently and would like to run away, taking advantage of the fact that he is not looking at me, but my

eyes remain nailed to his shoulders, then end down, lower and lower.

His body seems to have been sculpted by a sculptor, but as I lose myself in that view, I don't notice the

fact that he has just turned around.

At first he assumes a surprised expression, then he raises an eyebrow in a bully expression, without taking bothering himself to cover ... the private parts.

I meet his pale eyes for a split second, unable to hold his gaze.

With my eyes I reach the triangle that his muscles form, covered by a giant

tattoo.

But then I recover and, unable to look him in the eye again.

"Er ... what are you doing here?" - I ask him with a trembling voice.

"I should ask you the same question." - he says quietly.

"I was told that ..." - I swallow the saliva stuck in my throat, as I see him approach- "that there is a

meeting between employees. "- I inform him.

"Damn it! Could you cover yourself, please!" - I can't help myself and I spit sour screaming.

I look him in the face to see his reaction. Maybe I exaggerated. Everyone here is friendly and polite, so I have to

pay attention to what I say.

"What the fuck ...? It was you who entered my room. This is 6S."-he answeres with a rude and cold tone.

I glance at him, then step back and look at the number on the door.

I roll my eyes and, without deigning a glance, I slam the door behind me.

What an asshole!

Besides, who does he think he is to treat me like that!?

I finally find myself in front of the meeting room, but this time I double check the number first

to enter it.

I knock and, just as it happens, the witch of "The charge of the hundred and one" opens the door with an empty look in her face... and among other things she is dressed in black and white.

I laugh at my thoughts without even realizing it:

"Am I laughing?" - she asks with a glacial look.

"No." - I hold back a further laugh, but I stop when I feel myself pushed forward, and then crash against the Lady.

"James!" - the old woman raises her voice before I do, but

as soon as I have the opportunity to see him, I notice that he is the same rude man I just met few minutes ago.

So his name is James.

"Be careful where you walk!" - I threaten him, but he gives me a grim look.

I only know his name, and his body, but I already dislike him as hell: I look at his uniform with the

corner of the eye and judging by the costume and the earpiece around the ear, I'd say he's a bodyguard.

"Don't look at him like that, you're eating it with your eyes." - Carl's voice makes me jump.

"You are here, too?" - I ask, and then look at him from head to toe and notice that he wears the same costume as

James.

"You are also a penguin." - I laugh again at my words: they actually look like penguins in white and

black.

Everyone here wears black and white.

Only now do I notice that I am surrounded by penguins.

"Sure." - he looks at me with an amused frown, and then continues- "But I don't have the luck of James, he's the

Edward's bodyguard. "

"Edward?" - I frown.

"Yeah, Edward is Gordon's other son. He's pretty handsome."

"This house is full of handsome guys." - I run away- "Too bad that two of them are gey." - I wink at him, and then

be silenced by his mother.

"Sit down, take your seat." - she points out the chairs arranged in the large room.

Our names are written on the chairs, so I have to walk away from Carl, approaching the

other cooks.

"Today is an important day for Mr. Gordon. On the occasion of the birthday of the eldest son, he's organizing a gala evening, so today you are called to be more present and efficient than usual. »- my eyes light up when I hear her words.

I love parties. The big ones, the ones I've only seen in Hollywood movies so far, drive me crazy.

But I try to set myself a goal for tonight: not to give my best in the kitchen, but rather ... not

messing around.

That's my specialty.

I start staring at the old woman, unable to follow what she says anymore: I lose it in the exact moment my eyes catch the huge mole under her chin.

I take a disgusted expression, and I try to look away: moles don't disgust me, they terrify me

rather.

I get chills every time I see them, but as soon as I started talking to my mom about it, instead of

advising me to go to a psychologist, she told me that she would have locked me up in an asylum if that story didn't end.

"Any problem?" - for a moment I thought the mole was talking to me, but then I lift my eyes to meet those of Cordelia who is watching me with a frown.

I open my eyes wide and just shake my head to give her an answer, but she replies with a tired and cold voice:

"Are you at least listening to what I'm saying ?" -she lengthen the muzzle.

I wonder myself if this woman has forgotten how to smile, since she hasn't done it once since I met her yesterday.

I nod exaggeratedly, because if I open my mouth, I don't know what sentence will come out of it... definitely something

that will make me uncomfortable in front of the sexy and obnoxious penguins that are watching at me right now.

More obnoxious than sexy.

As soon as I remember the bastard of this morning, I turn my back, and then catch him staring at me with a serious expression, as if he were

pissed at me.

I remember why I hate him, so I turn around and turn my attention back to Maleficent.

Well, at least Maleficent was beautiful, so I'm paying her a compliment, in theory.

I follow the others who get up, then hurry to the door with the intention of arriving in the kitchen with my 'colleagues', to make breakfast for Uncle Gordon.

I have always loved cooking, but I never wanted to make it a job, also because I prefer to invent

new recipes, but having strange tastes, in this villa I cannot risk killing my uncle and his two children.

Gordon has been a friend of my father for who knows how many years: every Christmas he came to visit us, even if he never

brought along or mentioned his children, which leaves me a little perplexed.

I would have preferred knowing the two brothers before: theoretically I don't even know Edward, but if his father is throwing such a big party for him tonight it means he's a posh and 'dad's son' guy.

But I'm the first to say to never judge a book by its cover, so I can't wait

to know him, and I hope he is not as I think he is.

I've always hated snobs, in fact: braggart men bother me. Like James.

I know he and I won't ever get along, but if I keep busy here in the kitchen and he'll be around

as Edward's right hand, we wouldn't have many opportunities to see each other.

Luckily! I've known him enough and I've seen more of him than any other person in here

has.

"Are the first courses ready?" - a woman whose name escapes me calls my attention.

"Almost." - I limit myself saying.

When I cook I am silent and nobody has to bother me, but only now I realize that I have to hurry,

also because it is already nine o'clock.

I ask another waitress to help me put the food on the plates:

"Do you think she's a cook? That's your job." - she spits, but I'm not surprised by her behavior.

Women here are all daughters of Snow White's stepmother: I just give her a long, dirty look, and scream against her mentally:

'Change your drug dealer, woman!'
