Chapter 21 - Falling for a boy, first time ever

In a very dark room with only a large candle as a source of light, Develee was standing and staring into the darkest corner of the room.

"I know master, but you have to slow down with your tormentations"

"And why should I do that?" A very terrifying voice spoke from the dark corner of the room.

"Master the boy may lose his head soon, if you continue like this"

"I should have known, children of this generation are so weak and incompetent"

"Yes master, but he will soon meet up with our" Develee stopped immediately to change his words." I mean your requirements, the boy has promise"

"More than the others before him" the voice became louder.

"Yes master,he just needs time"

" What about our young one?"

"She doesn't seem to encounter any challenges for now master"

"That's good, but your concentration should be more on Matusa"

"I know master"

"Now leave, you still have a lot to do" the voice grew more fierce.

"You shall live forever master" Develee, bowed with his right knee and quickly disappeared into the darkness of the room.

Aurora yawned, rolled and stretched out her body on her bed you could easily tell she wasn't feeling comfortable, she suddenly sprang up and sat at the edge her bed with her feet on the ground and the whole of her left hand on her cheek.Something was definitely bothering her, Aurora was not known for getting easily bothered by anything maybe because she was just a kid."Was I too rude too him?" Aurora muttered to herself.

It was clear now Aurora was feeling bad because of the way he responded to Eric, yesterday the new boy that just wanted to be friends with her.

I was awake now I opened my eyes to see that Aurora was up, but with her hands on her cheeks, she was probably thinking of something but I decided to lay low on my bed for now,it wasn't long until she left to go get ready for schoo,I immediately got up after she shut the door since she longer likes the idea of waking me up.I quickly got up from my bed and followed her.

"Are you okay Aurora?" were the first words I heard as I opened the door to the dining/kitchen section and the question was coming from mom.

"I'm okay mom" Aurora said, grabbing a bottle of chilled water from the freezer.

"I'm just saying, you don't usually look this tired after waking up in the morning, that's Mike's thing"

"C'mon mom" I interrupted their conversation and it seemed like none of them noticed me enter the room.

"Oh Mike I didn't see you there" mom turned and smiled at me.

"You guys find the best way possible to criticize me even behind my back"

"You know she's not lying Mike" Aurora said, taking a sip from the bottle.

"Whatever" I said bluntly."Where's dad?"

Mom pointed outside,I looked through the window to see that dad was busy cutting large pieces of wood with his axe, those wood would then be burnt down to coals which we used as a form of warmth during winter, because the cold up here gets intense during that time of the year,we also use them to cook in emergency periods when we run out of cooking gas.Dad was busy now and wouldn't like any disturbance so I decided to leave him alone and go get ready for school.

On our way to school I could see that Aurora wasn't feeling relaxed at all, like something was bothering her.

"Are you okay Aurora?" I asked still walking straight and not looking at her.

"You know you guys should stop assuming I'm not okay just because I'm a little slower than usual"

"I saw you on your bed this morning, you were thinking about something"

"So"

"And you are also thinking about the same thing now"

That was all guess work but I was right, she was still thinking about his altitude towards Eric yesterday.

"I don't what you are talking about" She folded her hands.

"C'mon Aurora, whatever it is you can tell me"

"Just leave me alone" She mumbled, but instead of running of like usual she continued walking with me.

"Ok"

We met Chloe at the entrance to the school, she was just about to walk in when she us coming and decided to wait for us.

"What's wrong with you Aurora?" was the first question Chloe asked when we came closer.

For someone who was always vibrant and causing havoc wherever she could it was easy to detect when something was wrong with her.

"What is wrong with all of you?!" She yelled and walked into the school leaving Mike with Chloe.

"What is wrong with her?" Chloe asked, after watching with uttermost surprise as Aurora walked.

"I've tried asking but I got a reply similar to yours"

"Do you think she's going to be okay?"

"I'm sure whatever it is she can handle it" I flung my hands towards her and the next I knew my hands were entangled with hers,I didn't really like the idea of holding hands with a girl on school grounds, sure I've held hands with Chloe lots of times but that was outside the school where I was a little if not completely comfortable with it.I tried to separate my hands but Chloe was already pulling me into the school.

"C'mon Mike, let's get to class"

I had no option rather than to go with the whole thing.

Aurora walked into class to see that Eric was the only one in the class, and he was sitting on her desk,he didn't notice her when she entered so she slowly went back outside to think of what to do,it was either she waited outside for more people to come into the class or she could go in there and scream at him to get off his seat like the mean girl she is or she could go in there and try to be friends with him, that last part didn't sound like something Aurora would try to do with a boy but either way he was going to go inside and ask him to leave her seat but she was planning to be less harsh.

"Hey can you shift to your desk?" Aurora said to Eric, who was busy reading a book when she entered.

"I'm sorry" he quickly scooted to his own desk.

"Why's he apologizing now?" Aurora muttered,as she dropped her bag on her desk.

Eric had stopped reading and was now staring at her, Aurora noticed this but whenever she turned she would only catch him looking into his book until she just decided not to bother herself about it again.Aurora was done bringing out all her books according to what they had for the day, all she had to do now was bring out her writing materials and she will be set for the day, but the zipper on the side of her bag was stuck.

"C'mon stupid zipper" She grumbled, pulling the zipper carefully in order not to spoil it.

"Do you need some help?" Eric offered to help her.

"No I don't need any help" Aurora replied, still struggling with the zipper.

"C'mon I can help you" Eric said, standing up now.

" Fine, but if you don't open it" She searched for something in the class using her eyes." You see that mop water over there" She pointed to a mop bucket filled with disgusting water that was near the closet in the class.

"Yes"

"I am going to wash your face with it"

"Ok" Eric smiled weirdly to the threat, but still went ahead to try and open the bag,as Aurora shifted to his own desk.

"Hey I got it open" Eric jubilated."A piece of thread was stuck to your…..."

Aurora was no longer interested in opening her bag,her whole attention was now on Eric's book.

"Have you read the other volumes of this book?" Aurora asked holding up the book.

"You mean the lost adventurer"

"Yeah that's volume five"

"Are you done reading it?"

"I'm almost done with it"

"Can I bor..."

"Sure thing" Eric didn't let her finish because he knew what she was about to say.

"Seriously"

"Yes"

"So you are not going to try and punish me for being mean to you"

"I don't think you are mean" he stopped to look at Aurora who wasn't paying much attention, she was still browsing through the pages of the book." I just think you are cute"

Aurora had almost blushed there but he didn't want Eric to know his words flattered her.

"Ok, so how did you open the bag?"

"You had a thread stuck to the zip line"

"Really, thanks"

"You are welcome "

Aurora was about to return to her desk, but then she rembered she had to ask Eric more about the book, just to make sure,he had really read all other volumes like he claimed he had.

"So Eric"

"Yes"

"How well do you the lost adventurer, from volume one?"

"Ok, but you may have to sit down"

"Ok" Aurora slowly sat down.

Eric started explaining the first volume of the book with every possible detail and Aurora was quite impressed,at a point she stopped listening to the story and started to admire him,he was pretty cute she thought, she was lost in thoughts and staring at Eric at the same time that she didn't know when the other members of the class entered and the worst part of everything was that she was on the desk of a boy that sat beside Eric, she had sunken into Eric and the story that he was telling that she forgot she wasn't on her desk.

"Aurora, you are on my desk" the boy said, standing over Aurora, who wasn't really paying attention to anything.

"Oh sorry" She quickly got up, feeling a little embarrassed.

"Did they all see me talking to him" She mumbled,as she went around Eric to go to her own desk.

"I see you guys are getting along already" Emily said after Aurora sat down.

"We were just having a little chat" Aurora said, pretending as if it was no big deal.

"That didn't look like any little chat, you whole attention was on him and what he was saying"

"Yes because what he was saying needed me to pay good attention" Aurora kept her voice low, because was just close to her and she didn't want him to hear her.

"And what was that?"

"It doesn't matter"

"Aurora don't tell me you are..."

"Ok I will love not to"

Mr Kel entered the class for the day's lessons,so all discussions had to be suspended until maybe during lunch break.
