I lived on the lonely side of town with my parents and little sister,we didn't go out much as kids and barely had friends except at school. My parents made it mandatory that we should live in that lonely side where nobody barely lived,Aurora and I would always ask them why but they never gave us any good reason to live here.
"You will understand when you are older"Dad would always say.But trust me I don't still understand the meaning of older because I'm twenty five years and Aurora is five years younger.Mom tried to cheer us up assuring us that will one day we will leave here to another place where we could associate with the society more, one thing about my family that always made me happy was that despite our condition we were still a happy family,my sister is my best friend since I don't have any friends to talk to I enjoy doing things with her,and so did she, but I knew that some part of her still wanted to have real friends as should would climb the hill daily to watch the people at the other side of town go about with their day to day activities.
Our home was located on a hill which wasn't that far from the main town, but climbing that hill both up and down was a major stress, that was why no one ever visited us even the friends I made at school and we didn't visit them.
"Hey sis"I called from behind, she got kinda startled by me sneaking up on her like that.
"Oh hey Mike, you almost scared me there"she said
I drew closer to the edge of the hill to take a look, that was when I realized why she came here everyday, the sight was beautiful and just looking down there seemed like you were in the city.
"Hey Rora"I said as I sat down beside her under the tree 🌲 on the hill.
"Yes"she replied.
"I know you want to be there"
"We all want to be there" she said.
"But we can't.Do you know why?" I asked
"What?"
"Because you have a handsome big brother" I replied.
She wasn't expecting that answer but I was doing it to make her feel better.
"I know you are handsome Mike, but that has nothing to do with what you were saying" She said.
Yes she was right and had a point, which was why I tried to change the topic completely.
"Yes it does"I said trying to start an argument
"How?" She asked
"If you catch me I will tell you how" I said
"Mike I don't have the strength...."
Before she could finish I had already smacked her on the head and down the hill I went, she got annoyed and started chasing me.This was exactly what I wanted because she would chase me all day without catching me and then she will get tired. My mom would look at us from the kitchen window and give us that smile that showed she had a big burden weighing her down inside her heart.
