Regius did not truly want to believe what he was hearing, but he had no choice in the matter with who was saying it. His father had made the decision with these people to save Earth and, in the process, he sacrificed everything they had. Their entire family had become a sacrifice that made it possible for earth to keep living. Regius felt defeated. He had hated the family leaders and while they may have been partially responsible, this was still his own father's plan.
Regius couldn't put into words the amount of hurt that threatened to swallow him as he stared at Elizabeth Vasille. While at the same time after the events of the tower, it was somewhat easier to deal with the mental blow. Regius stumbled backwards when a hand stopped him. He looked back to see Valentine Chordis looking at him with the warmest look he had ever seen from the man, but it still made Regius recoil.
