Chapter 16 - Cowards And Debt

Two days had passed rather quickly and there were only several hours before the entrance exam would begin and Macarthur still had no sight of Regius. The teens had begun to line up in front of the dean of admissions for the Merlin University and in the sky above them floated 4 heads of the 10 families as well as a certain way away from Macarthur. There was one thing that Macarthur hadn't expected though.

When Pangea finally pulled itself together another Race had come forward and stated that they had lived in the depths of the ocean and for them, Mana never disappeared. The Atlanteans ruled the other side of the world from their new floating city of Atlantis. They looked the same as humans with no difference other than the typical vibrant blue of their hair. The captain of their royal guard stood next to the four family heads having an idle conversation but MacArthur knew that his presence meant that a member of the royal family had enrolled in this freshman class of Merlin university and considering the Atlanteans stuck to themselves this development had Macarthur puzzled but though he was burning up with questions he wouldn't taint his personal space with these 4 family leaders.

The 4 leaders present were Kylie Korp, Jason Graves, Hilford Heaton, and Christopher Cross. Macarthur had made his promise to Regius to be an umbrella but the sight of the 4 of them made him want to claw their eyes out and piss in the holes. He snorted through his nose and moved farther away as he turned to the direction that Regius should be coming from. Kyrie, looking at his actions, laughed and spoke out loud.

"Come Macarthur you can still be mad over the death of one overconfident fool can you, why don't you give up that silly vendetta and come join the families you know we will accept you with open arms. You owe that ghost nothing."

Jason chimed in after "She's not wrong, Macarthur. He could have been such a boon to the world but instead, he kept all of his most promising things to himself and his family. He was selfish."

The other two stayed silent and Macarthur flexed his hands. "Who are a bunch of cowardly traitors to tell me about who I do and don't owe?" said Macarthur through gritted teeth.

Macarthur's voice grew to a roar for his next words "You think because you cowards have crawled your way into the demigod rank you can talk to me any way you please!? That's fine, all of you can come to me at once. I can show you everything I owe the ghost."

Macarthur's mana burst from him and the others subconsciously took a step back. He grinned and dispersed the mana.

"See, four cowards remain just that. Cowards." Macarthur's anger subsided for one reason and that was because in the distance gliding across the ice he saw a black speck that the others hadn't noticed yet. Kyrie straightened her clothes and stared back at Macarthur "One of these days Macarthur you'll let go of the ghost and come running because one day you'll need us much more than we need you. Hopefully not someday soon." said Kyrie. The others turned and began to talk to the Royal guard as the students began to line up at the portal and an old portly man stood at the front. "I am the dean of admissions for Merlin University and welcome to your entrance exam."
