Synopsis
Being given an offer to go to a generic fantasy world by a floating blue screen, Rayne escapes his boring life of tedious manual labour and procrastinating about fictional stories. --- He will be an adventurer, he will use wind magic combined with a warhammer and buckler, he won't be the smartest or hell-bent on world domination, just expect something similar to konosuba but with much less comedy. This won't be very slice of life, Rayne will be a thrill seeker who dives headfirst into dangerous situations unprepared. So expect lots of action and fights. Also I'm not planning on writing any lewds so don't ask or you'll be bonked. --- The image is a random one I found on google images when I searched 'DND fighter' so I don't own it.

Chapter 1 - 『 New world, new me 』

〚 Story by: AyyyZelos 〛

Prologue [1] :

"I accept." I say in response to the floating blue screen with an offer of leaving my mundane and boring life in exchange for one full of thrill and adventure in another world.

A world with magic and monsters, with a setting similar to medieval Europe and filled to the brim with fantasy races such as elves, lizardmen and animal-eared people.

After I utter those words the screen changes to an image of myself, an above-average guy with tanned skin, green eyes and black hair.

A 'character customisation' screen. As I enjoy how I currently look I make a few minor changes to my face to appear more attractive without looking like a completely different person.

Removing some acne scars and straightening up a few bent teeth and a crooked nose that I got from a fight in high school. The only massive change I make is giving myself a more balanced physique, a stark change from my top-heavy muscular body that I had gotten from working as a builder for the past 2 years.

After these changes I mentally hit the 'accept' button, soon I find my vision overlapping with a cobblestone road filled to the brim with passerby's who seem to not notice anything out of the ordinary with someone appearing out of thin air as if they hadn't noticed it happening.

Taking in the sight of different races of people all around me I am ecstatic at the fact that I wasn't hallucinating. I was really in another world!

At this moment I make a promise to myself, I wasn't going to become a side character again, a mere mob who fades into the background without ever achieving anything in their life. I would become someone amazing. A powerful man whose name would echo throughout the ages, sung about in tales of valour and heroism.

Redirecting my attention to myself I notice that I am garbed in iron platemail armour with a small round shield on my left side next to what appears to be a warhammer, quite decent for basic starter gear.

A hammer would be easy to use too, not much finesse or skills were needed to use it and it wasn't much heavier than a sword, one side had an inch long spike and the other had a hammerhead with a face as wide as a small penny.

This weapon would concentrate a lot of force behind a single point and break apart any enemy's defenses.

Lost in my own little world I feel a push coming from being me and catch myself with my hands before I faceplant onto the floor.

"Damn, sorry about that. Didn't see you there." Says a rough voice with a hint of surprise as he extends his hand.

"It's fine, no harm done." I reply, grabbing his hand and being pulled to my feet.

I see that he is a short, stocky middle-aged man with wild ginger hair and a full beard clothed in a dark blue outfit and a brown apron.

"I haven't seen you around here before stranger, you one of the newbie adventurers from down south?" He asks with an inquisitive look on his face.

Knowing some basic information about this world I nod in approval, saying I came from the southern Kingdom of Driere would do nicely as a background for me.

"Yeah, grew up on the border. Decided I wanted a bit more excitement in my life and hitchhiked on a caravan to Hyera." I told him, mentally recalling the information that the blue screen gave me about the country I was currently in.

Hyera was the name of the country I was currently in, a dwarven-ruled country occupied by people of all races, from the Beastfolk of Xaralas to the Snow Elves of the Akamir mountains people from all walks of life could be seen about.

To the south was the Kingdom of Driere, to the north was the Lejosaar Ocean and on either side of the country was monster-infested forests and mountain ranges.

"Heh, so you just up and decided to move here one day, what it's like to be young and full of ambition! Hope you enjoy your stay here in Telavir, it's a lovely city. If you ever need a blacksmith I'm your man, the names Vagrun Ashgrip. I may not be the finest Smith around but I sure as hell won't run your pockets dry!"

With a jovial laugh, he introduces himself describing the different areas of town, where the guilds and academies were, the best places to eat, and his very own smithery before bidding me farewell and going on with his day.

From the explanation Vagrun gave me I prepare to begin my journey as an adventurer, deciding to head to the Warrior Academy for some basic training and introduction to 'skills'.

Every class had their own starter skills, from the archers 'Eagle vision' to the rogues 'Stalk' every class began with a single skill that helped in battle.

What I intended to learn is the Warriors 'Shout', this was an integral part of any warrior's skill set, from the nimble duelist to the bulky tank, all variations of the warrior class used their shouts for various purposes.

And this was what I was going to learn in preparation for adventuring.

Looking in my coin purse I have 125 coins, more than enough for basic warrior training and adventurer registration.

And so I head to the east of the city towards the rising sun and my destination, the Warrior Academy.

One step closer to greatness.
