TWO DAYS AFTER DENZEL'S ARRIVAL...
Chris was mulling over something, he stood up from his bed and went to take his cell phone from his study.
He dialled a number, placing the phone to his ear afterwards. A beep sound coming up twice, the call was answered.
-"Hello, This is Lawyer Ceaser Erwin speaking,"- The person said.
Chris huffed twice before he spoke.
Ceaser Erwin was his close friend from long ago when he was still in high school. He was opportune to have an encounter with him six years ago, and that was when he found out that Erwin had become a lawyer.
"I know that. You are speaking with Miller Chris," Chris said, he was anxious that Erwin might not want to have anything to do with him because of his son's predicament.
-"Miller Chris... Sorry, might be wrong num-- Wait a minute, Miller? Christopher? Boxer?"- Erwin said over the phone.
"Hey..." Chris let a heavy sigh of relief when he called his name. When Erwin initially claimed that it was the wrong number, Chris was about to end the call, already comforting himself, confessing that he expected that. "And, It's Chris, not Christopher. I have told you that about a million times,"
-"Christopher Boxer, Hah! Okay, I've heard. It's been years, I wanted to call you four years ago, but I didn't because I felt I should have a heart,"-
"What do you mean?" Chris raised a question, he looked mystified.
-"Your son, M.D. I wanted to contact you then to notify you that if you needed a lawyer, I would be up for it. But when I thought about it once more, I felt it might be rude to call you for that at that moment. But you calling me now, I am sure it is not just to check up on me, so we are even now. What's up?"-
Chris was really happy that his long time friend still spoke to him that way. He expected him to let out something frigid to him.
"Wow, you didn't change, Erwin. Well, it's almost the same reason you wanted to call me then for that I am calling you now. To be sincere, it's the same thing. I need your help. I need you to help my son,"
-"Hmm, you need me to help your son out of prison?"-
"No, It's not that yet. Can you help me to investigate something?"
-"Well, I can. What's it? And why didn't you just tell that to the investigators?"-
"Definitely, I would have done that if it was possible, but you see, even the investigators have been negotiated. It's about my son, and all the carnages you have been hearing about M.D were not done by him. Someone was framing him, using his sobriquet to kill,"
-"How are you sure about that? If I am to investigate anything for you, it has to be true,"-
Chris explained it all to Erwin, saying them exactly how he heard them from Denzel.
When he was done, he could hear Erwin sigh heavily. -"Christopher, if you were just a normal client, I would have refused, but, since you are the one asking, I would take it on, but, what's going to be my gain?"-
"Well, will sixty thousand Xin do?"
-"Hmm... That's not a lot. If I am going to help you investigate, it would be tough, I would find partners that would be by my side and get it done. Sixty thousand Xin Huh? We are friends so, it won't hurt to help. However, when we have all the evidence, your son would have to turn himself in. Then I would help him get out of it, and that girl, Leia would get convicted,"-
They spoke a little more and began to conclude the call. Immediately Erwin dropped the call, Chris stood up from his seat and started to dance an old school dance that he and Erwin always did together.
*****
In Denzel's room, he was on his bed, faced up with his sister's headphones in his ear. He played music and made sure the volume was at its highest.
He did that anytime he didn't want disturbance, but it wasn't like he was thinking about anything or doing anything particularly.
He was already yelling the lyrics of a song when he heard a notification tone through the headphones.
Quickly, he turned on his phone and saw that it was a message Grayson sent him.
"Grayson? He never messages me, why did he today?" Denzel unlocked his phone and clicked on that notification to read the message.
~Denzel, I thought I should tell ya... Those Z.K's invaded my home coz they were searchin for u, but of course, they didn't find you.~
That was the end of the first message, and another one came in immediately he was done reading that.
~Well, I took care of the one that wore the Rhinoceros mask, nd apparently, they re wearing the mask of the animals they have in them. I was opportune to brutally injure the one with the Rhino mask. And I'm sure that if they are goin to attack you in less than a month, the Rhino guy won't be sent.~
~U should research Zoo Keepers online and get the weaknesses of each member of the Zoo Keepers. But keep those things you got for the snake, he would probably be sent with another member of the gang. Don't let your guard down,~
The message felt confusing at first, but going over it once more, Denzel could discern what he was trying to tell him.
-Thank you, Grayson,- Denzel texted him back to reply to his conversion.
Denzel got up from the bed, ran out, calling Zoey's number concurrently, but he was interrupted by his dad.
Denzel ended the call, walking back into his room when he recalled what his dad told him.
"Denzel, you wanted to go out now right, do I come later?" Chris walked in, closing the door behind him, not even waiting for Denzel's reply. It meant they were about to talk about something very confidential.
"Nothing much dad, just wanted to check something up," Denzel replied his dad, he was impatient at that moment, he had to do something about what Ted told him.
"Good. Well, I am here to tell you that we have found a lawyer to help you out with your case. He asserted that after a week, he would be able to begin with it," Chris explained to Denzel, feeling as satisfied as ever.
"Next week Huh? That's nice, but can't it be sooner?"
"I tried my best."
"But if he doesn't show up, I proceed with my plan. In fact, I am going to keep up with what I want till he shows up, and if in two weeks, he doesn't say a thing about it, I am going to take my mind off it." Denzel clarified that point to his dad.
"Fine, Two weeks is a lot. I am sure he would not disappoint us."
