Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

We ran together for a while, until I caught her struggling to even catch up. This wasn't good, I thought.

"Wait….wait, let me catch my breath." The Saint leaned against a tree rasping for breath. "Where are we even going?"

"I said we'd take my ride, I have it hidden in a cave nearby. But we have to hurry before anyone finds the bodies."

"I understand…but why are you helping me? I know who you are. I know what you've done. I…I know how many innocent people you killed."

Ah yes. The innocents I killed, well—she's not wrong. I did do my share of fuck ups. I pillaged villages, bribed or black mailed guards and nobles alike, but kill kids and babies? Nah. Not my style.

"Yeah, so what? The paladins and priests you guys have spouting bs never did anything wrong? I know some of them do even crazier shit than I do."

"Liar! It's people like you that ruin the lives of people, but do you care? No. You go and ruin the lives of even more people!"

The Saint, no longer catching her breath was glaring at me. Even worse, she had no intention of stopping her babbling.

"You monsters have destroyed everything!"

She kept ranting.

Honestly, I kind of wanted to slap her.

"It's because of you—"

"We're here."

We stopped in front of a cave barely covered with tree branches. A bad attempt at hiding it. But it didn't matter whether it was found or not though. Since he'd actually like the company.

The Saint, I hate calling her that, followed me inside. It was pretty small for a cave, the place was empty except for a summoning circle dug into a wall.

"Wait here."

I placed my hand on the wall and began pouring my essence into it. The circle glowed bright red.

"Is, is that a—"

"Yup." I smirked and poured faster. "Meet Balthazar."

The cave lit up and a red demon, with his wings and tail appeared. He turned towards me and grinned revealing his line of sharp teeth.

"V!" He hugged me tightly. "It's been a while you bastard, why haven't you called?"

"My bad man, I've been busy." Smiling, I put my hands around his shoulders and looked at her. "Balthazar, meet the Saint of the Holy Order. The one chosen by Eclipsa to lead millions of people in her name."

Balthazar's smile widened as he scrutinized her from every inch. Her disheveled hair, her tattered robes, and the fear on her face.

"Well. this. Is. A. Surprise." He grinned. "Are you giving her to me?"

The Saint froze and clutched her cross between her breasts.

"I actually need to borrow your wings for a bit, I'm planning on taking her back to her people."

"And why did you think I'd help her?"

"We both know you don't want the Demon god to rampage the planet. So, help me help her and we can get back to having some real fun."

Balthazar studied my face and started chucking.

"All right then, but you'll have to try playing on the same team. I know some guys who would rock your world—"

"Hell no."

"Come on, you haven't even tried it."

"HELL NO."

"Fine, fine. You're missing out, but oh well."

I face palmed. This guy has been trying to get to sleep with men for a while. Just try it he says maybe I'd like it he says. I sighed, he's a cool dude who's gotten into some shit with me but sometimes he can get tiresome.

"Just give me your wings already."

"Here you go boss." Balthazar snapped his fingers and suddenly I felt my back erupt in pain. My shirt started ripping and two black wings unfolded.

The Saint gasped and gave a short prayer. Ignoring her, I looked at Balthazar. "Thanks, I'll give them back after I drop her off."

Yanking the Saint mid-prayer, I carried her princess style. She started praying faster. Hoping she wouldn't keep that up the whole trip I sighed.

"Later."

"Bring drinks next time."

Grinning, I carried the bumbling Saint into the air all the while wondering, if I made the right choice.

Meanwhile, Balthazar kept his eyes on us as we drifted out of sight. Leaning against the cave walls, he licked his lips, and strutted back into the cave.

"V, wherever this leads to—don't die."

A branch snapped.

A group of men wielding weapons were standing outside his cave. They walked right in ready to kill anyone they see. Balthazar, now wingless stretched his arms out to greet them.

"Gentleman," He said.

"Welcome."
