The entire hall was in an uproar. Luna looked at her so-called family members with a smile as their expressions turned from red to pale. She pressed the 'End' button and said, "Dad, seeing that Eve and Clarence love each other so much, how can I steal someone else's beloved? Let's do away with the engagement!"
Julius Brooke had been spending most of his time taking care of his company. He didn't even know that his own daughter had suffered so much. At this time, even his hand holding the cane couldn't stop trembling. He turned and asked, "Eve, Clarence! What's the meaning of this?!"
"Mr. Julius, the video can be faked too!" Clarence Oak walked onto the stage and said in a gentle voice, as though the person that had killed her was another man.
"Luna, I know that I didn't have the time to accompany you due to work in the company, and you began hallucinating again. Today's your birthday, so let's not cause a scene, alright?"
"Right, right!" When she saw what was happening, Eve immediately agreed with a sad face, saying, "How am I supposed to socialize as a proper woman after what you did?!"
Slap!
A handprint immediately appeared on Eve's pale face. Luna's eyes seemed to be frozen as she said, "A b*tch like you doesn't deserve to be a woman."
"Eve!" Clarence held Eve's shoulder and looked at Luna with a hint of disgust in his eyes as he said, "Luna, if you're angry you can yell at me or even hit me. How can you…"
Slap!
Clarence was slapped before he could finish his sentence. His voice was filled with shock as he said, "You… You hit me?!"
How dare a madwoman like her dare to hit him in front of everyone? He was the eldest son of the Oak family!
"So, what?" Luna snorted. "Didn't you say I can hit you or scold you if I'm angry? Do you regret saying that?"
Clarence was just going to say something when Eve suddenly held her face, and then said with humiliation and anger in her voice, "Luna, I know that you never liked me. But Clarence and I are both innocent! How could you say something like that to us! Clarence treated you so well! Not to mention that no matter how much you hate me, I'm still your younger sister! What's the point of slandering me like that! Ah…"
The final sentence was to remind Julius that no matter how this ended, they were still a family in the eyes of all outsiders.
They all had the same last name. This was going to affect the reputation of the Brooke family!
Indeed. As soon as he said that, Julius Brooke's voice could be heard saying, "Luna, enough. Come here!"
While his daughter would always do something shocking after her mother's death, there was still one thing that he was quite satisfied with.
And that was because she obeyed his words.
He thought that Luna would quiet down like usual, but the young woman on the stage stood her ground.
She stood straight in that black dress of hers, just like how her mother used to.
"Dad, if that is not enough for me to break off my engagement, will this be enough?" Luna pulled down the cape on her shoulder and turned around, showing the purplish marks on her back. "This is what your good wife and son did to me! When you're not around, they would step on me, torturing me! They worked together with this woman in front of you and stole everything from me. They stole my money, and even my fiancé!"
Flora Springfield probably knew about Eve's plan tonight, so she had looked for an excuse and wasn't present so that she wouldn't be suspected of any wrongdoing.
And this gave her the chance she needed.
When Julius saw the scars on her back, the walking cane in his hand could almost break through the floor he was standing on. He yelled, "Call the madam! Tell her to come back! Now!"
There were more and more arguments from below. There were even flashes on them.
Luna let them take pictures of her. She would be in the headlines tomorrow!
Clarence gritted his teeth as his voice trembled, trying to suppress his anger. "Luna! Who would marry you after breaking off the engagement?! Know your place!"
'Know my place?'
The frostiness in Luna's smile became even colder as she said, "You know everything about how I got my illness, don't you?"
He was the one that had added the drugs into the original's food every day with the help of Eve and the others. Then they made her believe that she had become mentally unstable after her mother's death, and needed to take medicine every day to help her with her illness!
Clarence's face instantly went pale and said, "Of course, I do! You couldn't handle the fact that your mother passed away, and went crazy because of that! Who else could marry a mad woman like you other than me?!"
As soon as he finished his sentence, the doorway into the hall opened once again.
A man wearing a black suit slowly entered the hall under heavy escort. Although his angled facial features gave him a warm and gentle impression, the aura he was giving off showed that he was not someone not to be trifled with.
Everyone automatically opened up a path towards him, and he approached the front of the stage.
Luna looked at the cold, handsome face and suddenly flashed a brilliant smile. "Alexander White, will you marry me?"
Alexander White was an extremely influential person in Auburn.
Forget about the Oak family. Even the original's father respected this man.
He had met the original a few times. According to her memories, he was not someone that was wicked.
The assistant next to Alexander whispered to him with an indifferent expression, "President, it seems that the daughter from the Brooke family is at it again…"
Alexander White looked at the young woman on the stage. She seemed like a different person. She was no longer shy and timid like before.
She was wearing a tight, black dress and stood there with a straight back. Her eyes were like the tapestry in the night sky, and it lit up a path into his heart.
'Is this really that same timid little girl that didn't even dare to say a word after being pushed out by her own social circle?
'Since when did she become so strong?'
The arguments and whispers among the crowd had stopped, but they were all looking at Luna and Alexander, making many different conclusions on their own as they looked.
"Enough, Luna. That's President White!" Julius was stunned at how his daughter was acting. Before Alexander could say a word, he took a step forward and held Luna's arm, wanting to pull her down from the stage.
But Luna didn't want to leave. Her eyes looked at Alexander down the stage, with a soft smile on her beautiful face. It was as if Alexander White was already hers.
Just when all of them were thinking that Luna was going to completely humiliate herself, a cold voice broke them out from their own delusions.
"That's fine. I'm in need of a wife!"
One event had yet to be settled, and there came another. There were even more flashes surrounding them.
Good! From this day onward, she could consider herself having the support of a powerful ally!
