It's the day of the trial. Ignis and I wake up at dawn and get dressed, combed, and perfumed. I even wear a tiara to look more queenly.
I haven't been invited, not as the Saint, which makes me understand something is happening. I will go there as the Queen of Alba, which isn't any position of power.
Are they changing their mind about me? It's against their interest to have the Queen out of their influence. I have my powers regardless of them, and they can't force me into their ranks thanks to the King's power. So, why let go of me?
«Don't worry,» Ignis says, holding my hand. «I won't let them hurt you.»
«I know that, but I'm worried for the other Mages. I can't let them burn... It would be so unfair. I'm safe thanks to you, but there is no one protecting them.»
«There is,» Ignis says. «You are protecting them, and we'll bring them back without a scratch.»
«Thank you,» I whisper, squeezing his hand. «Thank you for everything, Ignis.»
