Bury me next to the mosque, brother
As if I could hear the call of the muezzin from Gore.
Nazrul lived for 7 years. But 35 of them were dead. He said in his poem, "I will not wake up and ask for your drink, I will make noise all day and will not disturb anyone's attention."
In 1942, the poet fell ill and became speechless. In just 43 years, he wrote countless stories, novels, poems and 3,000 songs and ghazals. Where Ravi Tagore composed about 2,000 songs. He was one of the leading Bengali poets, novelists, playwrights, musicians and philosophers of the twentieth century.
You will be surprised to read Nazrul's biography. His whole life was a strange life of struggle. How sad is his name Dukhu Mia?
During the last 34 years of his life, he was afflicted with a disease and became speechless. If the poet could have written these 35 years, he would have thought how much more we would get in Bengali literature!
The poet died on this day in 1986.
According to the poet's wishes, the poet was buried with state honors next to the central mosque of Dhaka University. This is where he lies in eternal sleep.
The poet said-
I'll be gone forever
But don't forget to give it to me.
Yes! You will not be forgotten, you will live forever in the minds of Bengalis,
Be well, dear poet, in the garden of paradise.
