Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

While the afterlife was welcoming Zick, the fierce battle between the priest and the demon continued. Now that the demon can manifest up to 20 percent of his power, the priest was about to get royally messed up. As the demon checked out Zick's body after he had fully possessed it and claimed it as his vessel, the priests and other seminarians could only stand by and watch.

"Alright mortal, oh where are my manners, messenger of God," in a disrespectful tone, the demon spoke while sizing up his new form. "Why don't I send you on an errand to your creator Himself? I'm sure you would like to deliver my message to Him personally."

The priest resumed his battle stance. Unfortunately, it was useless. 20 percent of this demon's power was already at a level considered godly to mere mortals. Considering the fact that this demon must be a very high-ranking demon, at this current level of power, he is as strong as a minor god.

But of course, the priest doesn't know that the demon is now in an entirely different realm of power. He knew the demon's power had multiplied by several times since he could sense a fraction of it, coupled with the uncontrollable aura surrounding the demon. That was all he knew.

The priest planted his foot into the ground like a great sword falling onto the earth from heavens, which caused the entire hall to disintegrate into small chunks and boulders because of the strength and energy released. Before this, he told everyone to move away from the building, as he cast a spell that would make him boost himself in every aspect. This spell was the most powerful augmentation oriented type spell, one that the church only thought to qualified individuals of the service. A spell that could make you powerful enough to stand toe to toe with Archangel Mikael on the battlegrounds of annihilation, someone who was the commander and forerunner of the army of the Most High.

The priest had kept this as a last resort, but at that moment, he knew he had to use it, because the realm of power the demon had reached was truly a profound one.

With debris and chunks of what used to be a hall now in mid air reduced into gravel, the priest burst forward with all the momentum he could muster, aiming the tip of the crucifix directly in the path of the demon's heart. Drenched in holy spiritual energy, there was no way the priest could be considered as just a mortal. It was clear he had gone above that. The demon was finished.

This must have been what the priest thought as he had no hesitation what so ever. He looked like a tiger preying on an antelope whose legs had been cemented to the ground. The demon couldn't even react on time to block the priest's attack. As he was still in the process of turning his head, the priest was already in front of him, thrusting the crucifix into his chest. The demon was dead for sure.

This ordeal took about the same time it took the sound of thunder to permeate through the ears of the onlookers, it was too fast for their eyes to catch. What they saw after the sound of thunder shook them. The knew the priest had boosted himself to a ridiculous amount but… not this.

"What? How come?" the priest said in disbelief.

The crucifix crumbled away like spirits disappearing in fantasy fairy tales, only this time the pieces weren't shiny golden or yellow, they were like ash melting into the air. The demon looked at the priest as though he was a little confused or in disbelieve of what was going on at that moment.

"Do you take me to be a lowly creature such as you mortals?" he asked authoritatively, and his tone cold and calm, but his face conveyed a different message. He looked genuinely confuse. "Why would you think to attack me after using such a spell? Or do you not know of the spell's effects?"

As the demon asked these questions, all the priest could think of was blank. No thoughts came into his mind, nor words through his mouth. He didn't even dare move a single muscle.

"Why would you be as confident as to even attack me after using a lowly bluff spell?... The church has really fallen. This is good news for my master. I was going to entertain myself in a battle, but I am afraid I can't. The strange energy within this body that is allowing me this much use of my power is very little, luckily another is nearby who possesses this strange energy. I simply can't waste my energy on bugs."

After the demon said that, he casually walked away from the priest, moving towards the other seminarians who had accompanied the priest. Knowing what will happen next, the priest would not act cowardly and let this vile creature casually murder the entire church, he charged forward from the position he had been in, knowing full well what his capabilities were at this point, at least he would delay the demon enough for some to escape. Unfortunately, only the priest's body charged forward while his head saw its body crashing in front of it while slowly losing consciousness as time seemed to slow down for only the head. The demon turned to look at the falling head.

"Oh mortal, you have long been dead."

The demon had separated his head from his neck after the crucifix hit him, but it was so fast that the priest felt no pain and everything was still aligned, even on a cellular level.

Seeing this, many seminarians ran in panic as if trying to showcase the effect of random motion, while were just too scared to move. After a while, the first raindrop spotted the demon's face as sudden downpour followed, the bodies of countless people littered the floor like rags, with their blood mixing with the rainwater, soaking the soil and flowing through the pavements like wine through a barrel.

"I have expanded too much energy on this inferior beings. Time to collect that energy."
