Chapter 17 - Chapter 16: The Wind in her Hair

Warning: Fantasy violence

I woke up about 15 minutes later with something wet in my ear. I looked over to see a little green chameleon with its tongue in my ear. "Hey!" I announced as I shook my shoulder to get the chameleon off. I looked around. I was tied to a green, wooden chair with… golden hair. "Is this hair?" I questioned. A girl with tan skin, golden hair, green eyes, freckles, wearing a purple dress laced up with pink ribbon jumped down from a brown, wooden loft.

"Who are you and how did you find me?" She demanded.

"I'm Anna. And I was being chased, saw a tower, climbed it. If I knew that someone was living here, I would have picked a different place to hide. I will just get my…" I began to look around for my bag. I couldn't see it. "Where's my bag?".

"I've hidden it, somewhere you'll never find it.".

"Oh! Let me guess. It's in that pot." I guessed, looking at the orange, clay pot. I suddenly went unconscious again.

I woke up about five minutes later with something wet in my ear again. "Hey!" I playfully explained. "Now I've hidden it, somewhere you'll never find it." The girl exclaimed as she pulled me towards her. "You came here for a reason, was it fate, destiny, …".

"Some really crazy kids.". The girl looked surprised. "Look, I was being chased, saw a tower, climbed it." I explained.

"What do you want with my hair, to cut it? Sell it?". Okay, this girl was messed up.

"No! I have my own hair! Why would I want yours?!" I exclaimed, confused.

"You mean you don't want my hair?". The girl's demeanor softened a bit. Suddenly, she seemed a bit more relatable, a bit more human.

"No! The only thing I want to do with your hair is to get out of it.".

"Anna, do you know what these are?" She turned me around. A painting of a dark blue sky, dark green grass, a girl with long, blonde hair, and tan skin wearing a pink dress looking up at multiple yellow lanterns in the sky.

"The lanterns. They do it every year for the Lost Princess.".

"Lanterns! I knew they weren't stars!" She explained. She turned to look at me.

"Then, Anna, how about we make a deal, you take me to the lanterns, return me home safely, and then, and only then, I will give you your bag.".

"It's a deal once I know your name.".

"Rapunzel.". I looked at her. Rapunzel wasn't a popular name. "... Is something wrong?".

"I'm sorry, I had a friend named Rapunzel, once, it's been a long time since I've seen her last.".

"Oh, that must be really hard, I'm sorry.".

"It's fine, now untie me and I'll get you down.". Rapunzel untied me.

I picked my hang glider, stood on the stone frame of the window, and jumped off. I glided down. "You coming, Rapunzel?" I questioned.

"Here I go." I heard her sigh. She belated down on her hair.

She giggled when she felt the grass on her feet. She began to sing.

"Seems like I've spent my whole life hoping

Dreaming of things I've never tried"

Rapunzel spun.

"Tangled in knots just waiting for my time to shine

What if the doors began to open?"

She leaped and threw her arms out.

"What if the knots became untied?"

I undid a knot in Rapunzel's golden hair when she was sitting down.

"What if one day, nothing stood in my way"

She ran forward.

"And the world was mine?"

Rapunzel spun, her long hair flowing around her.

"Would it feel this fine?"

She hugged herself.

"'Cause I got the wind in my hair"

Rapunzel ran her fingers through her golden hair.

"And a gleam in my eyes"

Her green eyes sparkled.

"And an endless horizon"

Rapunzel looked up at the blue sky.

"I got a smile on my face"

She looked down and smiled.

"And I'm walking on air"

Rapunzel skipped arcoss the big, brown rocks in the river.

"And everything life oughta be

It's all gonna happen to me out there"

She looked towards Corona.

"And I'll find it, I swear

With the wind in my hair"

The wind blew through Rapunzel's hair, blowing it to the side.

"So many roads I've yet to travel"

She looked down a dirt trail surrounded by evergreen trees.

"So many friends I haven't met"

Rapunzel picked up and hugged a fluffy white bunny.

"So many new adventures just around the bend"

She peeked behind an evergreen tree at a brown, windy, dirt path surrounded by evergreen trees.

"Plenty of mysteries to unravel"

Rapunzel undid a knot in her hair.

"Tons of mistakes to not regret"

She fell into a yellow beehive. I ran over to her. I helped her up. We both laughed.

"So much to see, and to do and to be"

Rapunzel did a cartwheel.

"A whole life to spend

And it doesn't end"

She spun.

"And I got the wind in my hair"

Rapunzel's hair blew in the wind.

"And a song in my heart"

She pumped her heart.

"And the fun's only starting"

Rapunzel did a cartwheel.

"I got a skip in my step

And I haven't a care"

She skipped.

"A beautiful breeze blowing through

It's gonna carry me who knows where"

Rapunzel ran the same direction as the wind.

"I'll take any dare"

She ran up to me. We locked pinkies.

"With the wind in my hair"

Rapunzel's hair blew in the wind.

"I got a smile on my face"

She smiled.

"And I'm walking on air"

Rapunzel skipped across the big, brown rocks in the river.

"And everything life oughta be

But I know that it's waiting for me out there

And I'll find it, I swear"

She looked towards Corona.

With the wind in my hair"

The wind blew through Rapunzel's hair, blowing it to the side.
