Chapter 1 - Sunset

The Sunset: A time when daylight fades and the sun is no longer visible. It's not the most flamboyant definition to represent all of the beauty the sky beholds.

The glamour lies within the effervescent sky during a sunset. It combines the serenity of the auburn sun, pale pink hues, and the rich light radiating from the ends of the sky to the ends of the buildings, reflecting its beauty to all for see.

Children resemble sunsets, not only from their beaming smiles, but in their hearts. One child in particular used to exemplify these characteristics.

The redness in the sun resembled the innocent child's cheeks when he was laughing extremely hard; the sound echoed for miles. His glossy purple hair blew freely in the wind as his eyes showed the ignorance a child should have.

This child lived like any other child, with the warmth a mother provides, the fun with an older brother. But unlike other children he was the child of the most exceptional family in the city and his father isnt always around as he is extremely busy, but that doesn't change the atmosphere as it is always harmonious.

"Get ready this will be unlike anything you have felt before as this is undoubtedly the real thing", The voice boomed out snapping away the reality as it was and waking up our protagonist from his reminiscing.

Looking around in confusing with the smallest tears barley noticeable before realization kicks him and he blinks them away and he stands as straight as an arrow. The same action repeated by the others around him in uniform creating a loud THUD with a thundering roar of the following, "Yes Sir!"

The voice who spoke out before now recognized as the mentor training the young adults infront of him spoke out again, "You have all been training for this day, to have the body activated for the full potential of your powers to run free" He looked at each of them in the eye before continuing, "I wont lie and say this will be a breeze because you will most definitely feel unbearable pain but consider that a test of your resolve also".

Bringing out his holographic holo-pad he tapped a few buttons and a machine whirring sounded out before the recruits felt something attach themselves to their cerebral cortex through their spine into their brain.

Orange sparks flew around doing something to them that cant be seen with the normal eye but they are clearly in pain as they writhe and scream, some even outright falling over and clutching their skulls screaming.

"Argh it hurts fuck turn it off"

"Please stop it I cant bear it anymore"

"I'm dying"

Similar phases were thrown about by a few of them but there was one person standing strong albeit bending slightly letting out muffled groans clearly showing that while affected he can stand the pain.

No one feature makes Yoshida Himura so handsome, though his eyes come close. People often speak of the colour of eyes, as if that were of importance, yet his would be beautiful in any shade.

From them comes an intensity, an assertiveness, a intense feeling. Perhaps this is what is meant by a warrior, not one of brute force or being brash, but one of great spirit and noble ways. What he is, what is beautiful about him, comes from deep within; it makes one want to respect him, how his hands follow the stories of a man trained since young.

He stands out from the masses as if his soul shines through his skin, showing the world he is the one to look out for.

The feeling of pain felt like an eternity when in fact it only took 5 minutes for it to finish and when it did Yoshida nearly collapsed but bit his cheek and stood his ground standing tall like a mountain.

The mentor looked at everyone then nodded slightly at Yoshida to show respect for his resolve before shouting out, "Fret as this is not the end of your journey, your story starts now as you have officially become Otherworldy Special Force members, Congratulations". Staying silent to let them soak in the feeling of success he follows it by saying,

"Go home and relax as from tomorrow you will be doing missions with your squadrons which you will later be told off" Finshing what he said he walked away letting the recruits talk to eachother.

Yoshida about to walk away is stopped by a hand on his shoulder, "Hey where do you think your going"

He was about to attack the person behind him until he saw who it was and sighed, "Ota please stop with your weird antics and behave normally I feel embarrassed just being near you, you wannabe anime character" Slapping his hand away Yoshida walks away with Ota yapping away at how disrespectful he is to anime.

Ota was someone who joined with Yoshida at OSF training camp and becomes friends albeit reluctantly as Yoshida prefers to be alone but he grew on him now. He was an energetic young man around the same age as Yoshida obnoxiously bright yellow hair and a beauty spot under his eye.

Although he is attractive and a womanizer he never succeeds as he is just too over the top and annoying.

Ota was going to continue his religious spiel of anime bullshit but stopped when he noticed Yoshida's holo-phone light up with a message.

"Hey Yoshi you got a message bro I'd check it out if I were you as you dont have any friends it might be from family" Sighing silently and taking his advice he opens up his phone and sees a message from both his brother and father saying respectively,

"Good work, be safe, follow rules, and succeed"

"Congratulations on passing"

Ota looked over Yohsida's shoulder a clicked bis tongue, "man your family is strict couldn't they altleast be more expressive always so dull".

Yoshida replied by saying thanks to his family and turned to Ota, "Well you know who my family are it's to be expected that I pass, nothing more than formalities"

Ota clearly dissatisfied with Yoshida's lackluster answer decided to do something fun with him, "Oi let's get our fortune told who know we might score some chicks or become super powerful and popular like the elites"

Running ahead of him Ota lead Yoshida to a shop where he bought to random toys with fortunes inside them, "Here take one but dknt tell me what it says and I won't say either"

Yoshida looked at the little doll with paper tied around it and shook his head, "So pointless" Nonetheless he still opened it and twitched slightly when he read it. Folding it neatly he put it away securely in his pocket to keep.

Looking up at Ota he can see him loose his smile for an instant before becoming his usual self, "Haha it just some toys man come on let's go get some food I'm famished from all that pain"

Yoshida was about to agree before alarms blared around the city and armoured trucks came pouring out with heavily armed weapons and Men and Women in uniform clearly belonging to the OSF.

Shocked by this turn of events he looks around and says, "Aren't the Mythos meant to roam outside the city, what the hell are they doing here this is a serious breach of security"

Grabbing Ota and not saying a world he runs the opposite direction ignoring his protests and the screams from panicked civilians, looking around and seeing no immediate danger he calms down and drops Ota, "We should be safe here"

After he said that he heard a childs cry and turned the corner to see a Mythos about the kill the child. Shouting at Ota to help him out he pulls out his training sword before he loosens the area around him making him and Ota lighter.

Doubling the weight of the Myhtos he cuts its joints and vulnerable points he learned at military school with Ota adding his own piece throwing debris and broken cars and the Monster with his telepathic powers.

As it was the weakest of it's kind it was easy to dispatch but not without some major enegery expenditure from both of them as this is their first serious fight.

About to secure the child they get surrounded by camera men shouting over eachother making a mess of a noise, about to use his powers to move them away he feels a hand on his shoulder before his surrounding spins and he appears in an alleyway.

Looking around cautiously he was about to pull out his sword when he heard, "stand down soldier" turning towards the voice he sheaths his Katana and stands straight, statues then relaxes.

It was the Mentor who managed to see the state they were in and got them away from the journalists, "Your lucky it was me who found you or else you would've been suspended for violating the rules and fighting without your license"

Ota just getting his wits together ask the important question, "how did they get into the city?"

Yoshida also looks towards the mentor for answers as the city is meant to be secure and he is not disappointed when the mentor answers by saying, "There was a mutated Mythos who killed the guards without raising the alarms and before you ask mutated Mythos are those who have killed people with powers enough times to grow stronger"

"Now go on with your day and dont speak of this incident your performance has already drawn attention of the journalists so watch out" Disappeared in a instant the mentors leaves with the now asleep child presumably to return it to the family.

Sighing loudly for what felt like a dozen time already in the span of a few hours he walk down the streets after bidding farewell to OTA hoping to get some sleep.

The sunset: such a beautiful concept resembling the innocence of children also has another meaning, a warning towards the darkness that it to come and consume everything without warning and now this once seemingly innocent sunset sets its Rays onto Yoshida setting its sights onto him.
