Chapter 19 - Shot-18

~Author's POV~

"What the effing hell is going on over here?" Yelled a shocked Veronica who had run down the stairs in search of Sanvi but found the gate barricaded by a sea of students.

She halted in her steps and screamed in horror once she came upon the World War in the parking area. She made her way haphazardly through the throng of students with Pavan hot on her heels. The scene made her bang her hand on her head and Pavan led out an exasperated groan.

"Pavan, don't tell me that this is my best friend Sanvi wrestling Rishabh Singh Rathore..." She caught Pavan's hand and cringed helplessly.

"And don't tell me that these two are the student prodigies of our school..." Pavan's eyes were still widened at the sight as he held onto a blighted Veronica who was on the verge of leaping towards them.

"Stop it you two! Hey! Leave my Vee alone! Vee, stop hurting him!" She bellowed on the top of her lungs but her fruitless protests went muffled under the roaring ongoing chant of 'Fight! Fight!'

She got hold of a scrawny ninth grader who was apparently enjoying the fight a little too much and shook him violently to make him stop chanting. "What the hell are you cheering for? I'll cheer you off to the Death Star if you don't stop!"

Pavan immediately came to the poor baffled guy's rescue and grasped Veronica tightly in his arms before she could worsen the situation.

People were gawking at the scene like fools who apparently had a dearth of entertainment sources in their lives.

"You imbecile..! You pig..!" The arena echoed with several slangs in Sanvi's voice as she hovered over Rishabh on the ground, almost sitting over his stomach and trying to punch him with her unusual karate techniques?

She didn't have the privilege to enroll herself in a martial arts class or she could have easily showed that jerk the way to hell.

But right then, the only weapon she had was her scrawny fists. She lunged forward with an inexplicable force. Still, she couldn't help but cry out, time and again, in frustration as the punches didn't particularly land on his face each time.

Her enemy, Rishabh, was trying to protect himself from the claws of the now-turned tigress. He was lying flat on the ground with his arms shielding his head as she sat atop, straddling his waist.

He was managing to dodge her punches with ease but the most absurd thing in all these which one might find was that he was still giggling hard.

As if she was tickling him? He wheezed even louder as she squeezed his sides perhaps in order to find any weak spot that could take him down then and there.

His blatant disregard towards her aggression boiled her blood even more as she wriggled her hands harder in order to find a gap between his arms so that she could strangle him then and there. She was so angry that she felt her fury rage through her bones.

How dare that brat puncture her tire? How dare he humiliate her in the morning after kissing her in that manner the night before? How dare he steal her first kiss? How dare he effect her in that painfully numbing manner?

She was sure to entirely pour her accumulated wrath upon him on the spot until they heard a loud voice with hurried footsteps coming towards them.

Veronica tried to pull Sanvi apart but the tigress in her didn't even give a damn about the surroundings. Her adrenaline pumped mind stressed that she was the tigress and HE was her prey! It was the proposition of either kill or get killed for her.

It was not until Veronica lunged forward to grab her by her ear that Sanvi came into her senses. She winced loudly at the tug and Veronica, looking flabbergasted, pointed towards the school building.

The students immediately dispersed out into the field as an intimidating figure made their way into the arena. Sanvi stood up from her position but not before sneaking in a tight smack across Rishabh's head for her one last spoil.

With that one last 'Ow', Rishabh too pulled up and straightened his posture while massaging his head. He was still giggling hard but was forced to maintain a straight composure once they stood face-to-face with their Elder.

"What in God's name have you two been upto?" Father roared in his authoritative tone, making almost each one of students flinch in fear.

Sanvi straightened her clothes and Rishabh jerked off the dust from his pants. Veronica and Pavan stood beside them, staring at their shoes, ashamed on their behalf. They couldn't believe how non-chalant the culprits looked right then.

"I require an explanation right now!" The Father glared at the culprits, who were still indulged in murdering each other with horrendous looks, squint-eyes and a few stupid faces from Rishabh's end.

"Look at me!" The last beckoning call brought them out of their world as they jerked their heads towards the Father, as if finally realising the consequences of the ruckus they had caused.

Sanvi's cringe redoubled up to a thousands times more than the humiliation of it all upon the realisation while facing the Father. She made a mental note to flush herself down the toilet if and only if they could get out of Father's hands that day. Rishabh, on the other hand, could finally realise that it indeed was a stupid idea to puncture Sanvi's tire.

If they got summoned to the Father's office, which they definitely would, Sanvi would immediately put all the blame on him. Rishabh, a fairly brilliant individual who hadn't had a detention in his life, was not on the part of suffering the punishment all alone.

After all, she was the aggressor there. He simply wanted to mess around with her, not indulge in a cat-fight right in the midst of the school premise. He would definitely bring Sanvi down with him if need be and he made a mental note of that.

"Okay so you won't talk this way? Then I want both of you in my cabin RIGHT NOW!" Father yelled at them before walking back inside in his powerful strides.

"And dare you start again! NOW means NOW!" He added while turning back at the two who had returned to eyeing each other venomously. Rishabh glared at Sanvi before storming off behind the Father whereas Sanvi couldn't help but scowl at his stupid face.

Sanvi turned back at Veronica who looked worried while Pavan asked her if they should accompany her to the office. While Sanvi really appreciated their kindness, she politely declined the offer and asked them to return home without worrying too much about her. They trailed back till she had entered the building.

Veronica apologetically reminded Pavan that she might have had something to do with the fight since they had been weirdly hostile towards each other eversince Sanvi had come down to Rishabh's party in search of Veronica the other night.

Pavan assured her that while the physical fight might not have been a regular occurrence but it still didn't mean that the rivalry between those two wasn't there. It was, in fact, very much alive.

It was a known fact around the the school that Sanvi Dixit and Rishabh Rathore were academic rivals and that they couldn't see eye to eye when it came to something related to the academics.

Pavan asserted that the huge fight might have been one of the frictions that blowed-up due to the awaited inter-school championship. Veronica might not have even contributed a little bit to the cause. However, she didn't seem satisfied at his assurance. Much to her own dismay, she would be absolutely right in her assumption.
