Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - You are?

Kathy's pov

"Mr. Jack." I greeted.

His cold stares send shivers down in my spine and we stared at each other like there's no tomorrow and I hope nobody find this awkward at all.

But they did.

The speaker cleared his throat, making our eyes break contact. "Is there something wrong Ms. Hutton? I'm sorry if Mr. Bonneville tardiness disturbs you and his unacceptable excuse."

"I-its okay." I said, "It's okay, please continue our meeting."

"Ms. Hutton?" My assistant bend down and whispered, "Are you Okay? You look pale."

I smiled at her, "I'm fine Alice, I just need some water please, thank you so much." She looked at me worriedly but I gave her a reasuring look then she grab a bottled water for everyone and we continued our meeting for 2 hours straight.

"So, Ms. Hutton do you agree?"

I leaned against my leathered chair, amused by their presentation. I said, "It's quite an interesting toy after all and I'm glad to make them for you." I smiled.

His face brightens and said, "Is that a yes Ms. Hutton?"

"Yes," I said and they all smiled, accepting victory. "But it's gonna be hard on the first day to sell those things." I continued, "I hope your advertisement is interesting enough to make children buy those things, I don't want no dirt in my company. I hope our partnership will last long."

Jack stood up from his chair and looked at me, he opened his mouth and said,"We won't fail you, Ms. Hutton. Thank you for trusting, Toy bucks company." He offered his hand to me and I shook it with pride. "If you have any problems with the budget or problems with the manufacturing supplies, don't hesitate to call me."

"I have a manufacturing company in China, the number two toy makers in the world. Problems barely happened Mr. Bonneville." I said while shaking his cold hands and we exchange cold smiles.

Alice must have noticed our negative aura and immediately announced. "Meeting dismissed," She exclaimed."Thank you for being here today."

Everyone stood up and left the room and as for Jack he didn't even move an inch from his seat and Neither did I.

Say something you piece of shit.

Yes, I was the shit so I asked him first.

"Is there something wrong Mr. Bonneville?"

"Where have you been these past 5 years, Kathy?" He asked me directly, looking at me straight in the eye.

"I-" I blinked three times and gulped, I looked away and said, "I don't know what you're talking about Mr. Bonneville."

"Oh, heck you know what I'm talking about Kathy." His voice taut in anger, "For the past years I've been a fool looking for you and you didn't even care to give me single explanation why you left? Just a simple explanation, Kathy. That's all I need." His ears was red in anger but his face was still the same, the same old stone-face-Jack who never expresses a  emotion.

I didn't say anything and didn't even make eye contact. I'm too scared for this shit.

"Where were you, Kathy?" He asked again.

There was a long pause and I know he won't ask me again, he's not that type of person who likes to waste his time by asking a damn question twice.

I finally gathered all of my courage and said, "I was way out of your league, Jack. Why were you looking for me anyway? I didn't ask you to find me and I was a nobody, just a nobody that you found in the bar drunk and broken. You took advantage of that and I took advantage of your messed up state. I'm just a penniless girl with a broken family and you were too rich for me. Jack don't you think that's a bit disturbing at all?"

He raised his eyebrows at me and said, "So after all these years all you care is reputation?"

"I don't want to be labeled as a gold digger, Jack."

Our conversation stopped when someone opened the door and it was Alice. "Excuse me, Ms. Hutton. I just want to inform you that I've successfully rescheduled your meeting with slushy and slime company for tomorrow."

I gave Alice a sturdy look and want to give her a hug for saving me in this tight conversation. "Thank you, Alice." I looked at Jack and said, "It was nice catching up with you Mr. Bonneville till we meet again."

-Flashback-

"Let's go!"

After chatting with the black haired guy and everything just snap and we're suddenly comfortable with each other.

"I'm too drunk to do this right now." I warned him, whoever his name was.

"And I am too drunk for this too." He said and we both laughed like a maniac.

I haven't seen him smile at the bar, all he does is nod but here we are laughing and smiling. He look good smiling, he should do it more often.

We were just walking, talking and laughing and I didn't notice that we were already on top of a hill where the luminous moon sat in the sky. We laid down on the grass and stared at the moon for 5 minutes.

He suddenly stood up and grab my arm, literally dragging me under the grass. I groaned, "Dude, what the hell is your problem? This is not how you treat a lady." I don't know if I was angry or not because I can feel my giggles wanting to burst out.

He laughed and said, "You're such a pain in the ass." He dramatically let go of my arm.

We stared at each other and started burst out laughing again. I've never laughed in my entire life before or even have a drink with someone because nobody wants to befriend me in this town.

He wipe his nonexistent tear from his eyes and calmed himself. He dust off his suit and pants and I'm too tired to stand up. "Come, I'll show you something." He offered his hand.

I finally let out a big sigh and grab his hand, I dust off my shirt and pants and straighten myself. "Fine, just don't take me somewhere boring."

He chuckled, "I won't, I bet you'll love it and besides it's full moon."

We walk a little further to where we've been and crazy scenarios started to appear inside my head like what if he's going to murder me in this place? There are no people around either, there'll be no witnesses and nobody is going to bother looking for me.

Why do I trust people so much, I hate people.

We stopped on an old bench on the edge of the cliff with a beautiful view down town and the moon above. It was perfect.

My mouth agape. "This place is so beautiful!" I squealed and giggled in excitement, "Where did you find this place?" I sat on the bench and stared at the moon and sunk deeply on the bench when the cold wind pinching my cheeks. He sat beside me and reach something on his pockets.

"What you got there?"

"Do you smoke?" He asked, "Smoke make me feel warm in this cold place. Want some?" He handed me a cigarette and a lighter.

I grabbed it from his hands and lit some myself and we went silent, just the sound of us blowing airs and smoke ringing in our ears.

"We aren't so different after all." I said breaking the silence while looking at him.

"We're different." He simply said, "Just because I smoke and you smoke, that doesn't make us less different." and I shrugged on his comment.

"So what's your story?" He asked.

"There's nothing much to tell. My life is not exciting."

"Why don't we start from family?" He says.

"Well, I am not gonna tell you a story about my family to a total stranger now wouldn't I?"

"Do they really fight everyday?" He ask frankly.

I furrowed my eyebrows,"Why are you asking me this?"

He shrugged, "I'm sorry, just want to know if the rumors were true."

"Its true." I said and in confusion I squint my eyes at him. "And how do you even know about my parents, you don't even live in this town."

He shrugged again and said, "People talk loud and when I say loud, I literally heard them talking about you at the bar." He puffed out his smoke and looked at me, "Why would you let people talk about your family like that?"

"I'm tired of defending my family and I don't care if they talk shit about my family."

He just looked at me and said, "You're something."

I look at his shiny wristwatch and it kind of remind me that I have a brother to take care back home, "Can I go home?"

"Why? Do you have somewhere to be?"

"I made a promise to my little brother that I will take him out for an ice cream." I said.

"Oh," He stood up from the bench walk towards the edge of the cliff and turned around to face me, "Can I see you again, tomorrow?"

"I don't know," I shrugged, "Maybe or maybe not." I stood up from the bench  and exhaled my sober self and smiled at him. "I have to go."

I didn't bother saying goodbye and started to walk away, I don't feel so drunk anymore and my headaches are starting to vanished but a firm cold hand grabbed me by the arm, I looked up and raised my eyebrows at him.

"I haven't got to know your name." He says.

I smiled and said, "Kathy Hutton and you are?"

He smirked and said, "Jack... Jack Bonneville."
