Shin always imagined that there was one God of Death, and he'd meet him after dying on the battlefield. His life hadn't been easy, and he expected to die young. After all he, was enrolled in a military academy run by a super powered emperor.
Shin lived in world torn apart by an elite few super powered beings. So strong, their battles reshaped the land, diverted seas, and anhillated a large part of the world's population. Billions of people died in the span of a few months. Billions.
There weren't many Supers left at the end, only 13 of the most powerful survived. Many lesser supers survived by aligning themselves to the strongest, but even that group wasn't large. They divided the world up into 13 empires, then gathered the human survivors and started to rebuild.
Aside from his family and friends dying when he was very young, Shin was living a great life as an Academy student. Except for the war he was drafted into, and finding out he had no latent power potential, then learning he wasn't really human, oh and some crazy death goddess was trying to breed with him.
So, you know, a normal Academy life. Though he was still technically fighting with the army, he looked forward to going back to school.
He was on leave from the battlefront, waiting to see his old Corporal, Mimi, when it happened. Someone hit him in the back of the head with a football. The problem with augmented humans was, some of them could through a football like a bullet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shin woke up in an unfamiliar setting, definitely not in the medical suite at his academy.
'What happened to me? Where am I?' he wondered. He remembered waiting for Mimi, feeling pain at the back of his head, and then nothing.
'When in doubt, explore,' he thought. He sat up in bed and found his first problem, he was naked. 'Geez, not even a hospital gown? Maybe they brought me to a private infirmary because it was closer?' He looked around, but didn't see any clothes nearby, so he wrapped the sheet around himself and got up.
'Am I in a castle?' he wondered, because everything seemed to be made from cold stone blocks. The furniture was all made of different marbles and granites too. 'Is that a skeleton in that painting? All the art and decoration here is a little... dark. Finding nothing in the room, not even his uniform or sword, he decided to find someone in charge.
He opened the door, walked out, and was knocked into the ground immediately. Then a tangle of arms and legs landed on top of him.
"Oof," Shin said, not sure if it was a knee or elbow that landed on his stomach. He tried to get out from under the person, but the sheet he was wrapped in made it hard to move.
"Sorry, sorry," a high pitched voice said, very close to Shin's ear. "I seem to be trapped in your, er, sheet.
Shin twisted, trying to separate himself from the person, and the sheet, when his bare skin rubbed against someone else's bare skin. 'Are they naked too? Is this some kind of sex dungeon,' he thought. It seemed crazy. And yet, it made him more desperate. He managed to throw the sheet off of him, and could now see, sitting on his bare chest, a girl in a uniform.
"This is an awkward way to meet. Hi, I'm Aly. You, well, you're naked, but what is your name?" Aly said, cheerily, but her smile was a little wicked.
"Shin. I'm Shin, I mean. Sorry. Sorry, but could you get off me?" He asked. He didn't know if he should be embarrassed, or shy, but, either way, he couldn't take much more of this girl's bare thighs moving on his chest. Her uniform skirt was probably demurely long, but that was hard to judge given that she was straddling him, and it had pushed up to expose the length of her thigh.
"I could Shin, yes. As soon as I do though, won't I see you naked?" she made as if to turn her head back, towards his hips, it made her pale blonde hair swish around her shoulders.
"No! Look at me please."
"Oh, I am Shin, I am," then she laughed and reached over to grab the discarded sheet. She tossed it behind her, sufficiently preserving his modesty, and then stood up.
Shin was so worried about his own modesty, it didn't occur to him that lying on the floor with a skirted girl standing over him was a little indelicate. Unlike the panties he could now see perfectly.
"White lace," he whispered.
"Shin, you are a little pervert, aren't you?" She grinned down at him, but didn't move away. Then she looked down the hall at something, and said, "Oh shit. We are going to be late for the ceremony. Come on Shin." She helped him to his feet, and then wrapped the sheet around him more like a toga. She grabbed his hand and pulled him down the hall with her.
"Late for what?" Shin managed to ask, as they hurtled through the gothic castle. He saw other teenagers in uniforms like Aly's also running.
Aly looked at him like he was crazy. "Did you hit your head or something? Were you staying in one of the paliative rooms?"
He just stared blankly at her. The more he saw of this place, the more questions he had. 'There is definitely no building like this at the Academy. Everything there is glass-crete, chrome and very modern. I don't recognize her uniform or the crest she is wearing. Where the hell am I?' he thought as they ran. The crest on her uniform blazer was very interesting, it had sword and scythe crossed over a field of blue roses. The shape of the crest resembled a raven's head.
"We're going to be late for the opening ceremony," she said, her voice excited. Shin still stared blankly at her. "We're part of this year's new class, at Death God Academy".
