Chapter 39 - Arc 2: Chapter 5

Training room.

.

Class Three once more gathered for their preparation. Kyle went to tell everyone what he knew about Trutam. Since it was a forest, the fire was out of the question. They also had to be careful to minimize the damage to their surroundings. A big attack wasn't allowed unless they were in an open field free of trees. They needed precision and efficiency in this field training to avoid what had been saying before.

"Before we are going to explore the forest, I will use my strings to sense our surroundings and act as traps as well," Kyle told everyone. The forest was a haven place for Kyle, who was skilled in a tricky fight. His strings wouldn't cause damage to the environment, and they could spread easily.

"We might have to spread our numbers into six groups who will take care of each area. Each group must not be too far from each other to maintain contact," Kyle added. He showed the map of the Trutam forest and pointed at the possible spread out for each group.

"I also have the encyclopedia of monsters and beasts in Trutam," this information was important. If they knew what they faced, they could make a preparation beforehand.

"However, since it is the sudden increase of monsters, we might encounter monsters that are not in this encyclopedia," Kyle added while giving the encyclopedia to Bianca to make a copy of it. The increase of monsters should be coming somewhere else, but he still had not yet received any news regarding the monsters' movement to Trutam. He needed to find more.

"Then again, our plan will be adjusted according to the patrols. So expect something out of our planning," Kyle added. The patrols might take the lead instead of letting them free in the forest. Ir was the best choice for safety though.

Saturday.

.

For the rest of the days before Saturday, Class Three went to prepare for the field training. From preparing the necessities, reviewing Trutam and its habitants, and improving themselves as much as they could. Truly, it had been a busy period for all of them.

Outside of Costina, Class Three had gathered and lined up in front of Halbus. They wore their combat uniforms and had their weapons ready on their sides.

"Listen! Today, we will go to Trutam forest," Halbus started. Halbus himself also wore his combat uniform for this training. He should be with Mrs. Monrietta in this field training but the other teacher had something urgent to do so this left him alone to take care of it. "We will help patrols to reduce the monsters' numbers. According to the patrols, there are no dangerous monsters that can endanger your life unless you are careless. However, we should be cautious and always prepare for the worst!"

"Now get on the buses! Split into ten people for each bus!" The students moved and went to get into the buses which had been lined up for them. The students had decided who entered which bus, the strong ones were divided into each bus in order to safeguard the others if something bad happened.

The buses moved and headed to Suroff's exit. At the exit, the patrols who drove the buses showed their identities to the police who guard the exit. Once their identities were confirmed, they exited Suroff and headed to Trutam.

The road to Trutam was mostly a lonely one. It was a separate road from the main one. However, according to the map, there would be two villages they needed to pass before arriving at their destination.

"Kyle," Bianca whispered beside him. "Do you have experience fighting against a monster?" she asked. This was a question Kyle obviously easy to answer. "No, but I do know how to fight them," he replied.

Monsters weren't like beasts. They had higher physical and magical resistance. A simple knife couldn't pierce a monster's skin easily and a simple fire spell couldn't burn them. For an average person, it would take a lot of energy and time just to kill one monster and it depended on how weak that monster was.

"Ha …. So it is only Eric and Ninia who knows experienced fighting monsters," Bianca sounded disappointed.

"Why do you ask?"

"It just … I'm nervous. This will be our first time fighting living beings with the intention of killing them," Bianca gripped her trousers and looked down nervously. She had been trained how to fight since she was a kid, and her best experience in fighting was fighting her classmates. However, this experience was not comparable with a real one. This time, they had to kill, even it was not a human but a monster, it was still a living being. It might make her sound sympathetic to the monsters, and some people would not even feel guilty reaped monsters' lives. But she felt like she couldn't.

Kyle glanced at the others. They also felt nervous, but some of them showed it clearly while the others hid it. Their nervousness probably wasn't like Bianca's. They might feel nervous because they had to fight for real, but they wouldn't think much about killing monsters.

"Don't worry," Kyle said, smiling. "Just give your best and remember to utilize everything you have learned so far," Kyle nudged her, made her look at him. "Besides, you are not alone here. Me and the others are going to help you."

"Thanks," Bianca smiled. "You are truly a reliable Vice President."

"Ugh …." At the mention of his position, Kyle groaned uncomfortably.

"Why are you being like that? You did well in your position," Bianca gave him a questioning and teasing look. She knew the answer, but she liked to ask it again just to see Kyle's reaction.

"I want to live in leisure, not to live in work," Kyle replied with a sigh. "Being a VP is demanding me too much."

"Hm, I don't think so. Eric mostly takes care of everything. So I don't think you will have to work hard," rather, it was her who had to work hard because she was a secretary.

"True ... but still," Kyle sighed.

"You are truly lazy …. I'm speechless," Bianca shook her head. She didn't know how someone so silly as Kyle became their VP. Oh, wait, it was them who agreed about that.
