Frost Glacier didn't allow Haize to keep on adapting to the cold environment. Frost Glacier used his ice manipulation to create ice sickles in front of him.
As if Frost Glacier was operating a machine gun with ice sickles as bullets, Haize was being rained down with countless ice sickles nonstop.
Aside from the ice sickles that Haize needed to avoid, there were also occasional ice beams that were being reflected by the ice mirrors that attempted to hit him. Under those rain of deadly projectiles, Haize couldn't dodge even if he wanted to as Shirley's gravity field had affected his speed.
After getting used to the gravity field, Shirley often manipulated the weight of the gravity field so that Haize's speed would be affected. If Haize got used to the weight of the gravity field, Shirley would let Haize be complacent about it and then immediately change the weight of the gravity field into something Haize was unaccustomed to.
