How was Karlie supposed to start training?
She doesn't even know how to start her powers! Well actually she does.
She doesn't know it though.
You don't understand? You'll find out.
Karlie was in her room as usual zoning out while listening to music. She kept picturing the book with the musical notes in them. What if she had a book like that. Where she wrote songs but not just any songs, there spells too(A/N: Karlie could be calling them spells to distract her from the fact her father wrote songs, to avoid memories or she has real powers. Which is it?) Karlie wasn't aware that she was just writing what sounded fire.
As she was writing she heard a knock. "Come in," she yelled. Kayden walked in. "Hey sis. Um… sorry about yesterday, you know we just care about you." Kayden said, scratching the back of his neck. "Wow! Kayden being the nice one? What do you want?" Karlie saw right through his act. "What do you want for your birthday next week? I can't have Kore getting a better present" Kayden said as quickly as possible. Karlie chuckled, "Kore asked me the same thing a week ago. I'll tell you what I told her" Karlie offered. ''Which is?" he said, curiosity peaking in his voice. "I need a gift from what you think i want , not what you know I want ." "Ugh….. you're too smart for your own good," Kayden groaned. "I am well aware, brother. Now, shushu I have music to write" Karlie demanded as she chased her brother out of the room.
'You write music?' her brother mentally questioned. "Yes I do" Karlie yelled from the other side of the door. ' Wait! He didn't say that through his mouth' Karlie though. 'Did I read his mind?' she questioned herself. If she did read his mind this means Karlie powers are expanding beyond just her voice. Meanwhile as Karlie was struggling with writing her songs, Her siblings were busy trying to get adopted. Sadly, having no parents means they were put into an orphanage but luckily Kayden had just enough money to buy a house and now they stay in there. Legally they still belong to the orphanage so they have to get adopted soon.
*Next Day*
Karlie had left and is at school trying to behave while her siblings were still at the orphanage signing papers seeing as last night they managed to get adopted by a Private investigator.
*5hrs later*
Karlie is back from school. She's just chilling her room trying to practice her lyrics/spells. The Private investigator stops by to say hi and hear's Karlie sing and asks Kore about it. "Oh that's our sister Karlie. You haven't met her yet. I'll go get her" with that Kore runs up stairs and calls Karlie down. "Karlie, I have a surprise. Come down" Kore ran back down stairs with a slightly tired Karlie following. "What?" Karlie asks. "Um this is our new dad. Surprise *jazz hands" Karlie was in pure shock. She stood there and looked between her and him.
She ran to her room and hid. She wasn't allowed to leave the house so she hid in a corner behind her bed. She covered herself with old blankets and called Kayden
On Call:
Kayden: Hey Karlie, are you ok? You never call me.
Karlie: No it's not ok, am not ok. *sobs
Kayden: What happened?
Karlie: Kore *sniff brought a guy home and said *hicup and said his
o-our new dad *sob
Kayden: Oh Karlie
Karlie: tell me she's lying. That it's all a prank. Please tell me *sob
Kayden: Karlie, she's not lying.
Karlie: NO! She is lying, you're lying. You're all lying.
Kayden: Karlie list---
Karlie hangs up. She gets her headsets and starts to listen to music. She starts to sing along with Monsters by Amanda Fagan.
'I don't want him to die either. It was all my fault they(her parents) died. I don't want to hurt him too.' Karlie thought while sobbing. "I wish i'd just disappear" Karlie whispered.
With that Karlie found herself in a big black space. 'Did I actually disappear?' Karlie asked herself.
Karlie walks around and finds a punching bag. 'What's a punching bag doing here?' Karlie thought. "Train!!" A voice said. Karlie obeyed not wanting to know what would happen if she disobeyed. She punched the punching bag. Again. Again. Again and again. Until her arms were tired. She then switched to her legs and began kicking it. She was so exhausted afterwards, she fainted. To wake up in her room with her brother staring at her. "Karlie! You've finally woken up" Kayden said chuckling. "Was it a dream?" Karlie questioned. "No, it wasn't. He's still here and we gotta go by next friday. So, please be co-opperative and pack your things and we can leave by thursday." Her brother said. "But? What about Niagara and Josh? I don't want to move." Karlie exclaimed. "They can come visit and we don't have a choice. I can't keep changing schools for you. I don't have that kind of money. We aren't going to survive without a real adult." Kayden argued. Karlie just stayed quiet knowing what would happen if she kept arguing. She'd have an episode, so she started sobbing instead. Kayden got annoyed at how childish she was being so he walked out of her room and someone else came in.
Karlie looks up. 'It wasn't Kore and it definitely not Kayden because he just left then who is it? Oh, It's him' Karlie thought in disappointment. "How are you doing kido?" he asked. Karlie turns away from him. "Look, I know you're not too happy about this. I promise your friends can come visit whenever they want. Am not trying to replace your parents, I just want to help out." He says. "I was told not to talk to strangers" Karlie said so blunt and rudely. "Ok, fine! Am Ran Jackerson. I'll be your adoptive father. I plan on giving you the best life possible and do my best to make you feel at home." He gave a proper introduction. Karlie was partially sure he was telling the truth. He put out his hand to help Karlie. Karlie looked between his hand and him, he gave a soft smile. She took it. She took the hand and started packing.
Kore and Kayden walk in hoping Karlie hasn't scared him off. To find? Karlie packing her stuff and the guy thanking her for being cooperative.
Kayden and Kore looked at each other with the same confused look. 'How did he do it?' they wondered. All their years of knowing Karlie, never once has she ever co-operated ever since their parents' death. Yet, she's here packing her things with no struggle, no arguing, no episodes. 'What did this guy do to make her co-operate?' the thought went on their minds as their eyes switched between Karlie and Ran. "How did you?" Kore asked. "Am a Private Investigator. I've dealt with situations like this before," he said. Karlie heard what he said and she smiled, for the first time in forever she smiled. 'Maybe he'll be able to help me with my episodes?' Karlie thought.
She was secretly hoping her and him would become very close to the point she could call him dad.
