Chapter 2 - JEN?

Madison was burnt in the furnace, she couldn't plead with her father because he would not listen to her. She knew what she did was unforgivable and an outrageous crime so she knew that it was the repercussion of going against her father.

.....

The river flowed as it took the baby in the basket far away, the old woman who was cleaning up in the water caught sight of the basket, she glanced as she saw a baby in it. 'Who could have dropped the baby?" she asked herself. She disinclined to help the baby at first but then she took her out of the water.

The river had flowed to the vampire's country, and the old woman was also a vampire. The woman took the baby to her house, she placed the baby carefully on the bed as she stared at it's beautiful red eyes. Is the baby a werewolf?, she asked herself, she shrugged as she kept watching the baby's move.

She noticed that the baby's fist was clenched since, she pried it opened as she found a small letter.

It reads:

Please, whoever you are, take care of my baby, I wouldn't be alive to do that because I am getting killed, I am pleading with you, save my baby Jen..

Madison.

The old woman read 'Jen?' she asked herself as she looked at the baby, the baby smiled happily when she heard her name. She kept her hands in her mouth as she chewed it gently, creating bubbles with her spit.

The old woman smiled, she would take care of the baby, but she was also going to die soon, who would take care of her after she died?, the old woman thought of taking her to the castle to her old friend if she would help the baby out.

.....

The old woman took care of Jen everyday and the baby was growing up fast, she grew into a beautiful young lady, she has double eyelids with almond shaped red eyes. with wine hair and also the beautiful red lips. Her hair, although it was wine, it was long and shiny. Her eyebrows were shaped perfectly and her eyelashes were long, her nose was pointed as it created a shadow over her beautiful lips.

"Jen, why don't you get food for us?" The old woman asked, she was so weak that she couldn't stand on her feet.

"Yes granny" Jen said as she happily collected the basket from her to look for food, the old woman had told her where she found her. But her parents and where they were was still a mystery to her.

Jen went down the hills as she walked and jumped happily around the street.

"Hi Mr Gu, are you baking today?" Jen asked, the man was know for baking loaves and she always rendered her assistance to him.

"No I am not, but I have some loaves for you" he said as he urged the girl to come closer, Jen walked happily to meet him as she collected five loaves, the man was very generous towards her.

"Hello Jen, aren't you with your granny today?" Mrs Jade asked, she knew the two always stick together, wherever you see the old granny, Jen was surely there.

"No" Jen said plainly as she kept walking, they gave her foods and also money. The people liked Jen even if they knew Jen was not their kind. They were vampires and she's... whatever they don't know.

Jen went to the hill where she lived with her granny, she saw her granny in a bad situation and the basket fell from her hands, what had happened to her granny?.

"Jen, go to the castle, meet my old friend called Mary, she would help you" The old woman said as she clutched her chest tightly.

"Granny what is happening to you?" Jen asked feeling concerned, why was her granny in this bad situation?.

"Just go, you have to go" The woman said, the pain was unbearable and anytime from now on, she would die, she was so sure she was leaving the world today.

"Granny, I can't leave you" Jen said as she rushed to meet her, tears flowed like rivers from her eyes. She loved her granny so much and now the old woman was leaving her.

The old woman held her hands tightly as she gave them a light squeeze. "You have to go Jen, promise me" she said, but Jen was short for words, she couldn't say anything, her granny was In so much pain..

"Promise me" she said again.

"Please, promise me" the granny begged and Jen nodded, the granny collapsed and Jen knew what that means, she was dead, her granny would never come back to life.

She gathered her things as she walked away after burying her granny all alone. She wished she had the power to raise the dead but she didn't.

She knew where the castle was, so she went there straight not glancing anywhere, she was abstracted and her mind only occupied the sudden death of her granny. She didn't even know she passed by the castle until someone stopped her...

"Hey you, where are you going?" the woman asked in a coercive voice that sent chills to Jen even if she was standing quite far away.

"Come here" the woman said and Jen nodded ,she went closer to the woman, the woman stared at her as she tilted her head.

"Not bad for a maid" the woman said as she grabbed her arm harshly and Jen's eyes widened in shock.

"You called me here to be a maid?" she asked and the woman stared at her spitefully, 'And so what?' that was the expression the woman had on her face.

"Yes, don't you want to serve the princess, it would be a great honor, now stop asking questions and get to work" she said as she pulled her into the castle.

Jen stared at some young ladies at the door "You're all fired" the woman said loudly...

The girls hurried away as they looked petrified staring at the woman.
